Justin Baldoni Rips Blake Lively Over Legal Team 'Tantrum'
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Justin Baldoni hit back at Blake Lively's request regarding her deposition location amid their ongoing legal battle. Merriam-Webster defines "deposition" as "a testifying especially before a court." Newsweek reached out to lawyers for Baldoni and Lively via email for comment on Monday. The Context In December, Lively, 37, filed a complaint against her It Ends With Us co-star and director Baldoni, 41, accusing him of sexual harassment on the set. Baldoni and production company Wayfarer Studios responded by filing a $400 million countersuit against her, her husband, Ryan Reynolds, and her publicist, Leslie Sloane. The filing, which accused the parties of defamation, mismanagement, extortion and more, was dismissed by U.S. District Court Judge Lewis Liman last month, as Lively's accusations were legally protected. Baldoni also sued The New York Times for $250 million for publishing Lively's story about events on set, which he believed relied on her "self-serving narrative." The newspaper defended its reporting, stating at the time, according to CNN, that the article was "meticulously and responsibly reported" and "based on a review of thousands of pages of original documents." That lawsuit was also dismissed. Justin Baldoni attends The CW Network's 2016 Upfront at The London Hotel on May 19, 2016, in New York City. Morefor The CW;for Sony Pictures What To Know In a new filing, Baldoni's team argued that this week's deposition should be held at their office, rather than Lively's lawyer's office one mile away, because they may need to consult hundreds of pages of notes, the Daily Mail reported. They also have access to a conference room. Lively's team, however, said the meeting should take place at their office because of paparazzi fears. "Although Lively's foot-stomping and use of her celebrity status may have enabled her to seize control of the film, which is the crux of this dispute, her counsel's tantrum has no place in this Court," Baldoni's team said. "Lively is bound by the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure like every litigant." Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively on the set of "It Ends With Us" on January 12, 2024, in Jersey City, New Jersey. Jose Perez/Bauer-Griffin/GC Images What People Are Saying Justin Baldoni's lawyer, Bryan Freedman, suggested Lively's deposition be held in front of an audience, per TMZ: "If Blake Lively is really serious about testifying for the world to see, let's live stream it in Madison Square Garden and give the money to the domestic violence survivors." Blake Lively's lawyers, Esra Hudson and Mike Gottlieb, fired back at Freedman, telling People: "Justin Baldoni's lawyer has tried to make this matter a public spectacle at every turn, even proposing to sell tickets to a televised deposition at Madison Square Garden. This is a serious matter of sexual harassment and retaliation, and it deserves to be treated as such." What Happens Next The deposition is scheduled for July 17, and their trial is set for March 2026.

Here's 11 Sneaky Easter Eggs And Details From When Celebrities Referenced Their Movies On The Red Carpet
IDK about you, but in recent years I've noticed a fantastic resurgence of celebrities bringing the fun back to red carpets. These days, we've seen some great examples of celebs bringing out references to their movies at premieres. Sometimes they're subtle and niche, and sometimes they're super in-your-face. But I'm loving it either way. So here are 11 times celebrities didn't shy away from the theme and included references and details on the red carpet. Let's go! Ariana Grande – Wicked Now, I know this probably wasn't the look you were expecting. Ari and Cynthia both went all out for every Wicked premiere with their pink and green gowns. But at the London premiere, Ari decided to reference the Wizard himself – donning green-tinted sunglasses to mimic the ones worn by the folks in the Emerald City in the original Wicked stage production. She paired the accessory with a gorgeous yellow Ralph Lauren gown that matched Glinda's on stage. Blake Lively – It Ends With Us Justin Tallis / AFP via Getty Images Before all the drama, Blake's outfits on the press tour for It Ends With Us were a huge talking point. She wore this Tamara Ralph Couture look at the UK Gala Screening in London, with the florals referencing her character Lily Bloom's love of flowers. Tristar Media / WireImage Rachel wore this Alexander McQueen mermaid gown to the European premiere of the Hunger Games prequel in 2023, and eagle-eyed fans would have spotted that it was a reference to Katniss's dress in Hunger Games: Catching Fire. Y'know. The part when her dress catches fire. Zendaya – Challengers James Gourley / Getty Images Zendaya's Challengers press tour looks will go down in history. At least in my books. This sleek Loewe gown for the Australian premiere is a personal favorite. Law Roach, Z's stylist said that the silhouette of a tennis player on her dress is actually a screengrab of Zendaya herself taken straight from the movie. Zendaya – Challengers Jeff Spicer / Getty Images for Warner Bros Sorry, I had to do another. Have you seen the material? This look from the London premiere featured Z in a Thom Browne halter gown with Bulgari earrings. Zendaya had her hair in a sporty braid, and just look at the tiny tennis rackets on her dress! Too cute!!! Anya Taylor Joy – The Super Mario Movie Kayla Oaddams / WireImage Frequently the best dressed on carpets, it's no surprise that Anya brought her A-game – even to the Mario movie. Anyone who's ever fallen off the track in Rainbow Road will recognize Anya's reference to her character Princess Peach's race suit with this pink leather Dior jumpsuit. Zendaya – Dune: Part Two Marc Piasecki / WireImage, Warner Bros. Pictures Back to Zendaya! She just had so many bangers in 2024. This look for the Paris premiere of Dune: Part Two was a Louis Vuitton custom two-piece, featuring a silhouette that referenced the robes worn by Zendaya's character Chani. Margot Robbie – Barbie Han Myung-gu / WireImage, Mattel / Amazon Yaaaay! I finally get to talk about the Barbie outfits! Margot made sure to dig deep for her premiere outfits – and this Versace look from the Seoul premiere was a reference to Barbie's 1985 'Day to Night' collection. Margot Robbie – Barbie Enter Night Barbie! This second look from the Seoul premiere had Margot switching to the other version of the 1985 "Day to Night" collection – and I'm obsessed. Margot Robbie – Barbie Michael Tran / AFP via Getty Images, Mattel / Amazon / Via One more and I'm done, I swear. Out of the expected Barbiecore pink, Margot perfectly recreated the 1961 Barbie 'Solo in the Spotlight' doll with a black Schiaparelli gown, and I'm still obsessed. Zoë Kravitz – The Batman James Devaney / GC Images Suited up in a custom Oscar de la Renta gown, Zoë referenced her Catwoman character with a bust that featured silhouettes of cats – and IDC if it's custom, I need this in my wardrobe. Which was your fave? There are so many hard hitters on this list, but for me it's gotta be Zendaya for Challengers – get it? Hard hitter… Like tennis… I'll let myself out. LMK your thoughts.
