Here's 11 Sneaky Easter Eggs And Details From When Celebrities Referenced Their Movies On The Red Carpet
These days, we've seen some great examples of celebs bringing out references to their movies at premieres. Sometimes they're subtle and niche, and sometimes they're super in-your-face. But I'm loving it either way.
So here are 11 times celebrities didn't shy away from the theme and included references and details on the red carpet. Let's go!
Ariana Grande – Wicked
Now, I know this probably wasn't the look you were expecting. Ari and Cynthia both went all out for every Wicked premiere with their pink and green gowns. But at the London premiere, Ari decided to reference the Wizard himself – donning green-tinted sunglasses to mimic the ones worn by the folks in the Emerald City in the original Wicked stage production. She paired the accessory with a gorgeous yellow Ralph Lauren gown that matched Glinda's on stage.
Blake Lively – It Ends With Us

Before all the drama, Blake's outfits on the press tour for It Ends With Us were a huge talking point. She wore this Tamara Ralph Couture look at the UK Gala Screening in London, with the florals referencing her character Lily Bloom's love of flowers.

Rachel wore this Alexander McQueen mermaid gown to the European premiere of the Hunger Games prequel in 2023, and eagle-eyed fans would have spotted that it was a reference to Katniss's dress in Hunger Games: Catching Fire. Y'know. The part when her dress catches fire.
Zendaya – Challengers

Zendaya's Challengers press tour looks will go down in history. At least in my books. This sleek Loewe gown for the Australian premiere is a personal favorite. Law Roach, Z's stylist said that the silhouette of a tennis player on her dress is actually a screengrab of Zendaya herself taken straight from the movie.

Sorry, I had to do another. Have you seen the material? This look from the London premiere featured Z in a Thom Browne halter gown with Bulgari earrings. Zendaya had her hair in a sporty braid, and just look at the tiny tennis rackets on her dress! Too cute!!!
Anya Taylor Joy – The Super Mario Movie
Kayla Oaddams / WireImage
Frequently the best dressed on carpets, it's no surprise that Anya brought her A-game – even to the Mario movie. Anyone who's ever fallen off the track in Rainbow Road will recognize Anya's reference to her character Princess Peach's race suit with this pink leather Dior jumpsuit.
Zendaya – Dune: Part Two
Marc Piasecki / WireImage, Warner Bros. Pictures
Back to Zendaya! She just had so many bangers in 2024. This look for the Paris premiere of Dune: Part Two was a Louis Vuitton custom two-piece, featuring a silhouette that referenced the robes worn by Zendaya's character Chani.
Margot Robbie – Barbie
Han Myung-gu / WireImage, Mattel / Amazon
Yaaaay! I finally get to talk about the Barbie outfits! Margot made sure to dig deep for her premiere outfits – and this Versace look from the Seoul premiere was a reference to Barbie's 1985 'Day to Night' collection.
Margot Robbie – Barbie
Enter Night Barbie! This second look from the Seoul premiere had Margot switching to the other version of the 1985 "Day to Night" collection – and I'm obsessed.

One more and I'm done, I swear. Out of the expected Barbiecore pink, Margot perfectly recreated the 1961 Barbie 'Solo in the Spotlight' doll with a black Schiaparelli gown, and I'm still obsessed.
Zoë Kravitz – The Batman
James Devaney / GC Images
Suited up in a custom Oscar de la Renta gown, Zoë referenced her Catwoman character with a bust that featured silhouettes of cats – and IDC if it's custom, I need this in my wardrobe.
Which was your fave? There are so many hard hitters on this list, but for me it's gotta be Zendaya for Challengers – get it? Hard hitter… Like tennis… I'll let myself out. LMK your thoughts.

Alan Tudyk reveals reason he was dropped from ‘I, Robot' press — and it involves Will Smith
Yes, Alan Tudyk was in 'I, Robot.' The actor appeared in the 2004 sci-fil thriller as the robot Sonny via motion capture and voice acting, but he was totally absent from 20th Century Fox film's marketing and press tour. 'A lot of people didn't know I did Sonny the robot in 'I, Robot,' and there's a reason for that, actually,' Tudyk, 54, recently stated on Jim Cummings' 'Toon'd In!' podcast. 8 Alan Tudyk attends the 'I, Robot' premiere in Los Angeles in July 2004. I was done,' Tudyk added. 'There was no publicity, and my name was not mentioned.' Tudyk admitted that he was 'so shocked' by the studio's decision. 8 Alan Tudyk, Will Smith at the 'I, Robot' world premiere. How do they — nobody's going to know that I —' and [Fox] was like, 'Mhm,'' he recalled. 'It was sad,' Tudyk shared. 'I put a lot into it, because he had to move like a robot, so I had to move [like a robot]. At the time, I was very upset.' 8 Bridget Moynahan, Sonny the Robot (Alan Tudyk) and Will Smith in 'I, Robot.' ©20thCentFox/Courtesy Everett Collection The Post has reached out to Smith's reps and Disney, who owns 20th Century Studios, for comment. Directed by Alex Proyas, 'I, Robot' is about a Chicago police detective (Smith) who investigates the alleged suicide of a robotics company founder and becomes convinced that one of the robots, Sonny (Tudyk), murdered him. 8 Bridget Moynahan, Will Smith in 'I, Robot.' ©20thCentFox/Courtesy Everett Collection The film, which also stars James Cromwell, Bridget Moynahan, Bruce Greenwood and Chi McBride, grossed over $346 million worldwide and was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Visual Effects. 8 Will Smith and Alan Tudyk pose at the afterparty for the 'I, Robot' premiere on July 7, 2004. Getty Images After 'I, Robot,' Tudyk did motion capture again for his role as droid K-2SO in the 2016 'Star Wars' film 'Rogue One' and its Disney+ prequel series 'Andor.' Smith, for his part, talked about taking a 'gamble' with 'I, Robot' in a July 2004 interview with Black Film. 8 Will Smith in 'I, Robot.' ©20thCentFox/Courtesy Everett Collection 'I just loved the idea, the gamble of making this kind of movie, because it's actually a small art film that is masquerading as a big summer blockbuster,' the Oscar winner said. 'You know like the interrogation scene of Sonny, I was looking at that scene last night like, you can't compare that to anything,' Smith continued. 'There's no other movie where you have that level of emotion and connection with somebody interrogating, a detective interrogating a robot, without it being silly. I love the film and hope that people can connect to it.'

Kimmel: Trump Presidency Prompted Italian Citizenship
Jimmy Kimmel said he pursued Italian citizenship because the Trump presidency is 'so much worse' than he ever thought it would be. Jimmy Kimmel May 2, 2025 in Beverly Hills, California. Getty Images for UCLA Jonsson Cancer Center Foundation On an episode of the 'The Sarah Silverman Podcast," Kimmel said he obtained Italian citizenship because "What's going on [with Trump] is as bad as you thought it was gonna be. It's so much worse; it's just unbelievable.' Kimmel said at an event in June covered by the Italian news agency Ansa that he claimed Italian citizenship after proving his ancestral lineage. He said his great grandparents immigrated to New York from Ischia, an island in the Gulf of Naples, after an earthquake killed "most of the family" in the late 1880s. Kimmel's remarks came after Silverman said 'A lot of people I know' are thinking about trying to obtain citizenship in another country. O'Donnell, a frequent Trump critic, moved in January and said she is working on getting citizenship. She said she misses "many things about life there at home," but won't return until "it is safe for all citizens to have equal rights there in America." DeGeneres spoke about her move for the first time in July. She and her wife, Portia de Rosi, arrived in England the day before the election but said they decided to make the move permanent after Trump's election. She said if same-sex marriage laws are reversed, she and de Rossi may marry again in the U.K. Other celebrities who've said they've considered moving because of the 2024 election include Sharon Stone, Cher and Barbra Streisand. U.K.-born actor Sophie Turner said she knew it was "time get get the f**k out" of the U.S. when Roe v. Wade was overturned, also citing the nation's amount of gun violence. Actress Lena Dunham in 2016 said she would be moving if Trump won his first election, then backtracked when he did. "I can survive staying in this country, MY country, to fight and live and use my embarrassment of blessings to do what's right," she said. She now lives in London. Tangent Kimmel frequently attacks Trump in monologues on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!' and made fun of him while hosting the Academy Awards last year, which Trump responded to in an interview on Fox News: "This guy's even dumber than I thought," the president said of Kimmel. CBS last month announced it would cancel the late night show of another Trump critic, Stephen Colbert, citing "purely financial' reasons, but viewers, industry insiders and Colbert himself have speculated political concerns drove the decision because CBS' owners were trying to sell the parent company but facing tough pushback from Trump's FCC. Trump celebrated Colbert's firing on Truth Social: 'I absolutely love that Colbert got fired. His talent was even less than his ratings,' he wrote, and later suggested 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!' would be the next late night show to be canceled, with Jimmy Fallon after him. 'These are people with absolutely NO TALENT, who were paid Millions of Dollars for, in all cases, destroying what used to be GREAT Television. It's really good to see them go, and I hope I played a major part in it!' Trump wrote. Kimmel responded by mimicking Trump's claim he would be 'next,' commenting, 'I'm hearing you're next. Or maybe it's just another wonderful secret,' in reference to a birthday note Trump allegedly sent to Jeffrey Epstein in 2003.
