Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 and Z Flip7 certification reveals their battery capacities
Samsung is expected to unveil the Galaxy Z Fold7 and Galaxy Z Flip7 in early July, and ahead of that the duo has undergone UL Demko certification in Denmark, which has revealed their battery capacities. The Fold7 has two batteries, 2,126 mAh and 2,146 mAh rated capacities, respectively, making for a total of 4,272 mAh. This is likely to be marketed as 4,400 mAh typical capacity by Samsung, which means the Fold7's battery capacity will be unchanged from that of its predecessor. Galaxy Z Fold7 (left) and Galaxy Z Flip7 (right) UL Demko certifications The Flip7's cells are 1,189 mAh and 2,985 mAh, for a total of 4,174 mAh, which is probably going to be marketed as 4,300 mAh typical capacity. This would mark a 300 mAh increase compared to the Flip6, which isn't outstanding but it's still nice to have. It's unclear why Samsung still refuses to up the Fold's battery capacity, which has been the exact same 4,400 mAh since the Fold3 launched in 2021 (and we should also mention that the Fold2's battery was actually 100 mAh larger at 4,500 mAh). Anyway, speaking of things Samsung doesn't want to change, both the Fold7 and Flip7 will only support 25W wired charging, unchanged since the Flip4 in 2022 and the Galaxy Z Fold2 in 2020, respectively. There's good and bad news about the batteries in Samsung's next-generation foldables
Hadlee Simons / Android Authority TL;DR The batteries for the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 have received UL Demko certification. The Z Fold 7 would have a total battery capacity of 4,272mAh, while the Z Flip 7 gets 4,174mAh. Both devices may have 25W wireless charging speeds, up from the 15W of previous generations. As we get closer to summer, Samsung's next generation of foldables is looming just over the horizon. We're anticipating Samsung's next Galaxy Unpacked event in the first half of July, which may be held in New York for the first time in three years. Here, we should see the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 devices, and leaks continue to give us a good idea of what to expect. What appear to be the batteries for both the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 have received UL Demko certification, which follows their earlier BIS certification, according to TheTechOutlook. Because of this, we now have some solid expectations for the capacities of both batteries. For the Galaxy Z Fold 7, we're looking at possible battery model numbers of EB-BF966ABE and EB-BF967ABE, while these got certificate numbers of DK–163799-UL and DK–163657-UL. These are Li-ion batteries with capacities of 2,126mAh and 2,146mAh, which means 4,272mAh total for the rated capacity. As a comparison, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 packs in 2,355mAh and 1,918mAH batteries, which brings its rated total to 4,273mAh. In terms of marketing, since the Z Fold 6 has a typical 4,400mAh capacity, we should expect something similar for the Z Fold 7 as well. Regarding the Z Flip 7, we've got model numbers EB-BF766ABE and EB-BF767ABE for the potential batteries here, with certification numbers DK–163399-UL and DK–163928-UL. On this one, the capacities of the batteries are 1,189mAh and 2,985mAh, which would be a total of 4,174mAh. For reference, the Galaxy Z Flip 6's components were rated at 2,790mAh and 1,097mAh, which is a total of 3,887mAh capacity. The typical capacity for the Z Flip 6 is 4,000mAh, so Samsung may be thinking of positioning this be as 4,300mAh for the Z Flip 7. From these new certification listings, those who prefer the larger Galaxy Z Fold series could see a negligible drop in battery capacity, while the Z Flip fans are likely due a more substantial increase. Of course, actual battery life depends on what you do with your device all day, so these numbers may or may not have a big impact. We'll find out when the phones launch and we try them out ourselves. But there is some good news for both, thankfully. It appears the the next-generation of foldables should support 25W wireless charging, according to their listings in China's 3C certification database as spotted by TheTechOutlook. However, we also saw that both the Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 might only have 25W wired charging speeds as well, which isn't as impressive as some of Samsung's other flagships, and even mid-range devices with 45W. We also expect the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 to have Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC and at least 12GB RAM. With just a couple more months before the release of Samsung's next-generation foldables, we shouldn't have a much longer wait and will likely see plenty more leaks in the coming weeks. Got a tip? New leak corroborates Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Fold 7 battery specs – and it's a letdown for Fold loyalists
The Z Fold 6 and Flip 6. | Image Credit - PhoneArena A new certification corroborates earlier rumors about the battery sizes of the yet-unannounced Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 . Samsung's upcoming foldables – the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Galaxy Z Fold 7 – have leaked so much in recent months that it's fair to say that we know it all. However, most things come from leaks, so they have a relative level of certainty. But when it comes to certifications, those things are often more confirming than rumors. Now, a UL Demko certification reveals (with more certainty than rumors) the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 's battery capacities. These numbers were already present in leaks from before, but now... well, they're as good as official. Galaxy Z Flip 7 buyers may be treated with a nice surprise, a bigger battery than last year. The Flip phone is seen using two batteries with model numbers EB-BF766ABE(1,189mAh) and EB-BF767ABE (2,985mAh). That's a total minimum capacity of 4,174mAh. Expect it to be marketed as a 4,300mAh battery, which puts some 300mAh on top of the Galaxy Z Flip 6's 4,000mAh battery cell. Meanwhile, the meaner Galaxy Z Fold 7 is left without an upgrade on this front. The model is listed sporting the two batteries EB-BF966ABE (2,126mAh) and EB-BF967ABE (2,146mAh). That is a total minimum capacity of 4,272mAh, which would likely be advertised as 4,400mAh . Yep, same as last year. Previously, a leaked filing revealed that the charging speeds of the two foldables won't be bumped, which is not the best news. So, you can expect the same 25W wired and 15W wireless charging on the upcoming phones. Rumors have previously indicated the Galaxy Z Fold 7 may come with bigger screens, and the same battery capacity leaves questions: would we see a battery life downgrade? Or would the chip and a more power-efficient display compensate for the lack of a battery cell upgrade? The two phones have reportedly entered mass production now, and are expected to be unveiled during a summer Unpacked event, reportedly in early July. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 may feature a 200MP main camera and a thinner body, while the Flip 7 may get more screen real-estate on the cover display, which is said to grow to 4 inches. The two will join a curious foldable market situation. We have Oppo and Honor with their thin foldables fighting for your heart, we have Motorola's new Razr family featuring this time an 'Ultra' model, all while Apple is likely prepping its first foldable iPhone (albeit for 2026). Let's see how Samsung will join the fight for the best foldable of 2025!
