What is Uber Courier? New UK delivery service for customers
For those who often forget their key and need them to be sent across town, or you need to get a last-minute birthday gift to a friend, Uber Courier is now available to help tackle everyday errands and deliveries. Available now in the likes of Glasgow, Oxford and beyond, through the Uber app, Courier will be live in 20 UK cities this summer. Don't worry, I already got the uber 😌 Courier is said to offer a 'simple, seamless solution to life's everyday logistics' and is 'perfect for everyday personal tasks'. However, it's also a 'powerful' new tool for small business owners who need to manage deliveries flexibly and efficiently. From small dry cleaners to legal firms transporting official documents to independent boutiques offering same-day service, Courier enables businesses to scale their operations and keep customers happy without leaving the Uber app. Courier uses trusted features Uber users already know, including live trip tracking, PIN verification, and shareable delivery updates for complete peace of mind. (Image: Laura Dale/PA) Courier is currently available in the Uber app in Sheffield, Edinburgh, Stoke, Glasgow, Leicester, Oxford, Belfast, Northampton, and Hull, at the time of writing. But Uber has plans to further roll out the product in the coming weeks and Courier is expected to be live in Brighton, Sussex, Cambridge and East Anglia, Cardiff, Newcastle, Portsmouth, Birmingham, Leeds, Manchester, Merseyside, Nottingham and Bristol. A London launch is scheduled for late 2025. ‘It just smelled funny': Uber drivers unwittingly used as drug mules in metro Atlanta
Channel 2's Michael Seiden uncovered some drivers for Uber Courier, a package delivery service, fear they are unknowingly being used as drug mules. [DOWNLOAD: Free WSB-TV News app for alerts as news breaks] 'How are you?' asked a Johns Creek Police officer in body camera video. 'Sorry, my English is not good,' replied the Uber driver. In the bodycam video, a driver for Uber Courier called 911 in October after a customer asked him to deliver a suspicious package to an apartment in Atlanta. 'It's just that one bag,' said the officer on video. Investigators said the bag contained marijuana. But that was not an isolated incident. 'It just smelled funny. It just smelled funny,' said an Uber Courier driver who asked us not to use his name due to safety concerns. He said he doesn't know what is inside the packages he delivers most of the time. Taking on Porter, Uber launches logistics service Courier XL for delivery of large goods
Ride-hailing firm Uber on Monday launched Courier XL , a service that expands its logistics product Courier, to enable deliveries of large goods. Courier XL has been rolled out in Delhi NCR and Mumbai, with plans to expand to more cities in the coming months. It allows users to send large packages weighing up to 750 kilograms. The company will use three and four-wheeler vehicles to deliver large shipments. Courier XL will offer a fast and tech-enabled solution for heavier shipments, it said. 'Courier XL is our answer to a growing demand from users — especially small businesses and households — who need a reliable way to move heavier goods across the city. Whether it's inventory, furniture, or large parcels, we're making big moves simpler and smarter,' said Shiva Shailendran, director – consumer and growth, Uber India South Asia. According to the company, the new category has been introduced following the growth of Uber Courier, its bike-based package delivery service. Uber Courier is now available in 25 cities and has served over 5 million users. Uber said deliveries through its Courier service grew by more than 50per centin 2024, with growth continuing to rise in the first three months of 2025. Courier XL will compete with the likes of other new-age on-demand services such as Porter, Borzo, and Mover. Porter, which recently closed a $200 million round led by private equity firms Kedaara Capital and Wellington Management, is the largest in this segment, which primarily caters to MSMEs. New-age logistics company Delhivery also has a small presence in this market. Uber saw its operating revenue in India grow by 41per centin the fiscal year ended March 31, 2024 to touch Rs 3,762 crore, as it managed to reduce its losses on the back of an improvement in its ride-hailing services and growth in its support and service operations.
