Lost Soul Aside goes gold after 11 years in development, releasing on PS5 and PC this August
Ultizero Games has announced that Lost Soul Aside has officially gone gold, marking the end of its lengthy 11-year development. The action RPG will release on August 29 2025 for PlayStation 5 and PC, with Australia, New Zealand, Japan, and Korea receiving it a day later. The project began in 2016 when Chinese developer Yang Bing shared a demo video that quickly gained attention online. The footage caught Sony's eye, leading to Lost Soul Aside becoming part of the China Hero Project, a PlayStation initiative that supports indie Chinese developers with resources such as quality control, code reviews, audio, and marketing. What started as a solo endeavour has since grown into a 40-person studio effort. The game's style reflects Bing's admiration for the Final Fantasy series, combining manga-inspired characters with realistic textures. In an interview with Famitsu, Bing explained that the mix of surreal and realistic design elements influenced the creation of the game's protagonist. For its combat system, Lost Soul Aside takes cues from titles like Bayonetta, Ninja Gaiden, and Devil May Cry, blending fast-paced action with elaborate visual effects. The development team is now focusing on final optimisation and testing ahead of launch, having shifted from the original planned PlayStation 4 release to fully utilise PS5 hardware. Two editions will be available: the Standard Edition at $59.99 and the Digital Deluxe Edition at $69.99. Pre-purchases are open ahead of the game's debut later this month.

Upcoming PS5 Exclusive Might Be Shown at Tomorrow's State of Play
Now that we know the is real, it's time to speculate on what could possibly be shown. There are some slam dunk guesses, of course. Although it isn't actually known, the latest tweets from Death Stranding 2: On the Beach's Hideo Kojima suggest a new trailer for the sequel will be shown. But that's just one reveal from the 40+ minute event. What else could be shown? Well, one may guess a previously announced will be seen once again during the presentation. In a recent X post (as seen by Kami), the official Lost Soul Aside account reposted the February 2025 PlayStation State of Play announcement from Sony, which was made earlier today. Although this could be a totally harmless repost, it could also indicate that developer Ultizero Games is ready to show more of its action-adventure game. Lost Soul Aside has some pretty tight-knit ties with Sony's gaming platform. An announcement trailer was initially revealed as part of the PlayStation China Hero Project, an initiative from the gaming giant that aids China-based developers. More recently, a new Gameplay Trailer was revealed confirming a 2025 release window. Since the State of Play will cover PS5's slate for the year, it wouldn't be a stretch for Ultizero Games to show off its upcoming game during the showcase. Like any rumor or bit of speculation like this, take it with a grain of salt. We could be looking far too into this repost. As mentioned, since the game is heavily associated with PlayStation, it could just be the developer sharing the exciting news. On the flip side, the repost could mean they want players to know its game will be shown. Regardless, we won't know more until the State of Play tomorrow.
