WWE Smackdown results: US Champion Zelina Vega beats Alba Fyre as Chelsea Green's plan backfires

Zelina Vega continued her strong run as the Women's United States Champion with a big win over Alba Fyre on WWE SmackDown. Despite facing plenty of chaos from Chelsea Green and her Secret Hervice, Vega stayed focused and finished the match in style. Earlier in the night, Chelsea Green met Nick Aldis in the hallway, wearing a rainbow face mask and holding a cardboard cutout of her own face. She claimed Vega had attacked her and demanded the title be taken away. Aldis made it clear that Vega would not be stripped and told Chelsea she would get a rematch once she's cleared to compete. Not happy with that answer, Green took matters into her own hands and somehow booked Alba Fyre in a match against Vega. Aldis agreed to make it official. But the champion bounced back with quick strikes and a hurricanrana that sent Fyre out of the ring. Chelsea Green distracted the referee while Piper Niven tripped up Vega. Fyre followed with a superkick and took control as the show went to break. Back from commercial, Vega fought out of a chinlock and landed a big Meteora in the corner. She went for a suplex but changed her mind and hit a jawbreaker instead. Vega then missed a moonsault, and Fyre tried to take advantage with a Swanton Bomb, but Vega kicked out at two. The match reached its wildest point when Vega stepped outside the ring. Chelsea Green tried to hit her with the facemask, but Vega ducked, and Green accidentally hit Piper Niven. Vega got back in the ring and nailed Fyre with a Code Red to score the win.

Former WWE Star MVP Explains Why He Has Zero Respect For Triple H

Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. AEW star MVP has again strongly criticized WWE Chief Content Officer Paul "Triple H" Levesque. In a recent interview with BetIdeas, MVP stated he has "zero respect" for him, citing personal interactions and questioning his booking decisions since Triple H took over WWE creative in mid-2022. These remarks came when MVP was asked about how Levesque views talent of color. MVP used former two-time WWE Champion Bobby Lashley as an example of his booking concerns. "Let's just say this, Bobby Lashley was a two-time WWE Champion, and after he took over, Bobby Lashley was reduced to the mid-card," MVP said. "Bobby Lashley is a bankable, marketable guy. And two-time WWE Champion just got reduced to mid-card, whatever." MVP addressed WWE fans who might dismiss his views as mere complaining. "What I said, specifically in response to the person on my Instagram page, was that you see it. It's my opinion of how he chooses to book certain talents," he stated. "Some people say all the time that, 'oh MVP's just griping, MVP's just crying'. Okay, well just watch the program. Who were the people in the top spots under his leadership? Who were given the opportunities? And I'm not talking about NXT. I'm talking about the main show." More news: WWE News: Steve Austin Reveals Real-Life Vince McMahon Confrontation Despite these pointed criticisms of booking, MVP, who departed WWE in August 2024 and is now part of AEW, clarified that his fundamental issues with Triple H are personal and not based on race. He has previously implied concerns about the booking of Black talent under Triple H but has also denied labeling him a racist. Ryan Loco/AEW "And I'll be honest with you, my issues with him have nothing to do with race," MVP asserted during the BetIdeas interview. "My issues have to do with him as a person and our personal interactions and things that he said and did that caused me to have zero respect for him." MVP, a former WWE United States Champion and architect of The Hurt Business, promised to elaborate on these personal issues in the future. "I have my opinions, based on my personal experiences. And at some point on my podcast and my YouTube show, I'll talk about it and I'll go in depth about what my issues are with that man... But I'll get into that on my show. Marking Out with MVP and Dwayne Swaezey." More WWE News: For more on WWE, head to Newsweek Sports.

Injured AEW Wrestler Is Getting Closer To Making In-Ring Return: Report

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Some positive news has emerged regarding the health status of a prominent AEW mainstay. Fans may soon see the return of the energetic and unpredictable Juice Robinson to AEW programming. According to Fightful Select's Sean Ross Sapp, the former IWGP United States Champion is reportedly closing in on a comeback. Sources indicate Robinson has been largely healthy for nearly a month now, though he is still awaiting final medical clearance from AEW officials to compete. This update comes after a significant sideline period for the AEW star. Robinson suffered a serious injury back in late November 2024. Unfortunately, during a challenging AEW Continental Classic tournament match against Will Ospreay, Robinson broke his fibula. The injury reportedly occurred during a pin attempt sequence late in the bout, ending his participation in the prestigious tournament. While Robinson is healthy and considered relatively close to returning, an exact date for his appearance back on AEW television has not yet been confirmed. His recovery adds a potentially crucial piece back to his faction, the Bang Bang Gang (also known as Bullet Club Gold). Robinson's return would certainly provide a boost to the group, currently featuring Jay White and The Gunns (Austin and Colten Gunn). Since arriving in AEW, Juice Robinson quickly established himself alongside Jay White as a key figure in Bullet Club Gold. He often serves as the group's boisterous mouthpiece and loyal enforcer. Bringing his signature chaotic energy, Robinson is known for his intense promos and wild ringside mannerisms. He has been integral to the Bang Bang Gang's identity and their multi-man match strategies. Throughout his AEW tenure, Robinson and BCG have engaged in several high-profile rivalries. Their battles included memorable clashes against former AEW World Tag Team Champions FTR (Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood). Robinson also played significant roles in feuds against Ricky Starks and during Jay White's pursuit of the AEW World Championship, then held by MJF. His antics, such as mocking Starks with a cardboard cutout or taunting MJF with a roll of quarters, became notable moments. Robinson achieved championship success with The Gunns. The trio captured the ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Championships, defending the titles under the Bang Bang Gang name. With reports indicating Juice Robinson is healthy and just awaiting the green light, anticipation builds for his return. His comeback is poised to strengthen the Bang Bang Gang and add his distinct brand of mayhem back into the AEW landscape. More WWE News: For more on WWE, head to Newsweek Sports.

According to a report from Fightful Select, Chelsea Green has inked a new multi-year contract with the sports entertainment giant. Now, Green, who made her return to WWE in late 2022 and subsequently appeared at the 2023 Royal Rumble, will continue to grace WWE rings. Since her comeback, Green has carved out a significant presence within the women's division. Her journey has been marked by notable achievements, including a reign as one-half of the WWE Women's Tag Team Champions and a historic run as the inaugural WWE Women's United States Champion. These accomplishments underscore her value and her connection with the WWE fans. Fightful Select's report indicates that Green's previous contract was nearing its expiration in late 2025. However, this new agreement signifies WWE's commitment to retaining her talent and the mutual desire for Green to continue her career under the WWE banner. Her character work and in-ring performances have resonated with audiences, solidifying her position as a compelling figure on the WWE roster. Before her return to WWE, Green cultivated a diverse and impressive resume across various wrestling promotions. Her tenures with the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA), Ring of Honor (ROH), and World Wonder Ring Stardom highlight her international experience and adaptability. In a move that blurred the lines between reality and storyline, Green, fully embracing her character's persona, seemingly bid farewell to WWE in a post on X following the title change. This announcement, however, now appears to be a testament to her commitment to her on-screen role, further amplified by the news of her contract extension. This new multi-year agreement between Chelsea Green and WWE signals an exciting chapter for both the wrestler and the company. Her established connection with the fans and her proven track record of success ensure that she will remain a valuable asset to the WWE women's division for years to come.
