PM mum on potential Umno meeting over royal addendum
GEORGE TOWN: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim did not provide a clear answer when asked if there was a request by Umno leaders to meet him regarding the enforcement of the royal addendum allowing Datuk Seri Najib Razak to serve his prison sentence under house arrest.
Approached by the media after the groundbreaking ceremony for Kompleks Madani Teluk Kumbar here this afternoon, Anwar said he was on his way back to the capital after a day-long visit to Penang.
"I am just returning from Penang to Kuala Lumpur.
"Then, there is a Unity Retreat in Port Dickson (tomorrow)," he said.
However, when asked further whether he would meet Umno leaders during the retreat, Anwar did not comment.
It was earlier reported that Anwar had said he was open to holding discussions with Umno leaders regarding the royal addendum decree, which would allow the former prime minister to serve the remainder of his prison sentence under house arrest.
Anwar said several Umno division chiefs had raised the matter and requested a meeting to push for its implementation.
