Representative Image NEW DELHI: Unidentified miscreants set on fire the annexure building of an Upper Primary School in Arunachal Pradesh's West Siang district, police said on Monday. An annexure building of an Upper Primary School in Arunachal Pradesh's West Siang district was set ablaze by unidentified miscreants on Sunday, resulting in complete destruction of nursery and early primary classrooms at Lipu Bagra village near Aalo town. The burned structure housed classrooms for nursery, Class I, and Class II students. The incident has prompted police to launch an investigation. "The fire incident is shrouded in mystery. There were no eyewitnesses, and no call was made to the fire station at Aalo. One teacher who lives near the school was also unaware of the incident," West Siang Superintendent of Police Kardak Riba said. Police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act, utilizing technical evidence in their investigation. "I am deeply disturbed by the unfortunate incident at Lipu Bagra, where miscreants set fire to the Upper Primary School in the dead of night. Although I am currently out of station on unavoidable official duties, I have been in constant touch with the district administration," local MLA Topin Ete said in a statement. Shishu Batikas will come up in every primary school: CM

1 2 Berhampur: Chief minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Sunday said Shishu Batikas will be opened this year in every primary school. The joyful teaching through their mother tongue under NEP-2020 will enable students to understand their lessons, the chief minister said while addressing the centenary celebration of the Upper Primary School at Bhimpur in Ganjam district's Patrapur block. He said NEP, which was formulated to impart quality education and to strengthen primary education , was not implemented in the state by the previous govt due to political motives. "The NEP will bring a revolution in the education system in the country," the CM said. "After we came to power, we have implemented it in the state. It will help students," Majhi added. Apart from imparting quality education, the aim of the education policy is to build the students as a good citizen of the country and their role towards the nation, he said. The CM criticised the previous govt's 5T school initiative and said internet facility was available in only 16% of schools. He said his govt has launched Godabarish Mishra Model Primary School scheme, under which in every panchayat, there will be a primary school with all modern and infrastructure facilities. "Experienced and trained teachers will be appointed in these schools," Majhi said. In order to arrest the dropout rate among tribal students, the CM said his govt has also launched the Sahid Madho Singh Hatakharach Scheme. The govt has allocated over Rs 3100 crore for primary schools in the current budget. "It will help to improve school education in the state," the CM said. Earlier, the chief minister visited the Thakurani Yatra and offered prayers before the deities and witnessed the famous tiger dance.

₹1 lakh cr investment to be grounded in Ganjam dist: CM

Berhampur , Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Sunday said investment valued at ₹1 lakh crore will be brought to Ganjam district. More than one lakh people would get employment in the industrial units to be set up with that investment, Majhi told reporters after visiting the Budhi Thakurani temple here. The Budhi Thakurani Yatra, a 25-day festival, will be concluded on Monday. The CM offered puja at the temple and witnessed the "tiger dance" performed by local artists. The New Education Police-2020, which was formulated to impart quality education, was not implemented in the state by the previous government due to political reasons, he alleged. 'After we came to power, we implemented it in the state, which will help students of the state a lot,' he said while addressing the centenary celebration of the Upper Primary School at Bhimpur in Ganjam district's Patrapur block earlier in the day. The NEP will bring a revolution in the education system in the country, Majhi said. He also said the Shishu Vatika, a pre-primary teaching unit, will be opened this year in every primary school under the New Education Policy -2020. He said his government has launched a scheme, Godabarish Mishra Model Primary School, under which a primary school will be set up in each panchayat with all modern and infrastructural facilities. Experienced trained teachers would be appointed in these schools, he added. The government is also making efforts to check the dropout of tribal students from schools, the chief minister said. The government has allocated over ₹3100 crore in the current budget to help improve school education in the state, Majhi said. He said he will conduct a grievance hearing session in Berhampur soon. 'The government, the CM along with 10 ministers, will come to Berhampur to hear the grievances of the people,' he stated. Later, he visited Gopalpur in the district to attend the 12th-day ritual following the death of the mother of minister Gokulananda Mallik.
