₹1 lakh cr investment to be grounded in Ganjam dist: CM
Berhampur , Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Sunday said investment valued at ₹1 lakh crore will be brought to Ganjam district.
More than one lakh people would get employment in the industrial units to be set up with that investment, Majhi told reporters after visiting the Budhi Thakurani temple here.
The Budhi Thakurani Yatra, a 25-day festival, will be concluded on Monday.
The CM offered puja at the temple and witnessed the "tiger dance" performed by local artists.
The New Education Police-2020, which was formulated to impart quality education, was not implemented in the state by the previous government due to political reasons, he alleged.
'After we came to power, we implemented it in the state, which will help students of the state a lot,' he said while addressing the centenary celebration of the Upper Primary School at Bhimpur in Ganjam district's Patrapur block earlier in the day.
The NEP will bring a revolution in the education system in the country, Majhi said.
He also said the Shishu Vatika, a pre-primary teaching unit, will be opened this year in every primary school under the New Education Policy -2020.
He said his government has launched a scheme, Godabarish Mishra Model Primary School, under which a primary school will be set up in each panchayat with all modern and infrastructural facilities.
Experienced trained teachers would be appointed in these schools, he added.
The government is also making efforts to check the dropout of tribal students from schools, the chief minister said.
The government has allocated over ₹3100 crore in the current budget to help improve school education in the state, Majhi said.
He said he will conduct a grievance hearing session in Berhampur soon.
'The government, the CM along with 10 ministers, will come to Berhampur to hear the grievances of the people,' he stated.
Later, he visited Gopalpur in the district to attend the 12th-day ritual following the death of the mother of minister Gokulananda Mallik.

The Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC) had said it would not let Thug Life release unless Haasan apologised for his Kannada-Tamil comment at a promotional event in Chennai. His banner Raajkamal Films International filed a plea before the Karnataka High Court seeking protection for the release of the film, which sees him reuniting with Mani Ratnam after Nayakan in 1987. After a rap from the court over the remark, the producers said Thug Life will not be released in Karnataka.

CM Majhi: Odisha govt targets 1.5 lakh jobs in five years, 27,428 posts filled so far
BHUBANESWAR: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Friday said that the state government has given top priority to job creation both in the public and private sectors ever since the BJP came to power on June 12 last year. Addressing the newly-appointed officials at a Nijukti Mela here, Majhi said that the government aims to create 1.5 lakh jobs within five years, with 65,000 positions to be filled up in the first two years. As of now, 27,428 government positions have been filled, including the 1,294 appointment letters distributed during the programme on Friday. The chief minister said only two per cent of jobs in the state are in the government while the rest are in the private and industrial sectors. At least 13 lakh jobs will be created in the industrial sector in the coming days. Employment opportunities for 90,000 people have been created within four months of the Utkarsh Odisha conclave, he said.

Odisha cabinet gives nod to new biotech scheme, allocates Rs 1,113 crore
BHUBANESWAR: The state cabinet on Friday approved a new scheme 'Development of Biotechnology' to promote creation of advanced infrastructure for product and service development with an allocation of Rs 1,113.5 crore for a period of five years from 2025-26. The scheme aims to position Odisha as a knowledge-driven bio-economy. The scheme, approved at the meeting presided over by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, will strive to foster collaboration between industry and academia to open up opportunities for biotech applications across various sectors including agriculture, medicine and environment. Chief secretary Manoj Ahuja said with Odisha Biotechnology Policy-2024 in place, the new scheme comprises 17 sub-schemes to promote higher education, research and infrastructure development in the most promising areas of biotechnology. It will also develop and strengthen supportive and vibrant ecosystem for 5Is - Innovation, Incubation, Investment, Income and Impact - to build enterprises and industries, he said. Stating that the scheme will realign academic excellence, skilling and capacity building to meet industry requirements, the chief secretary said it will also promote product and process development, commercialisation and intellectual property monetisation.
