Rap legend Ice-T roasts host Waleed Aly on The Project
Waleed Aly was roasted on The Project last night when he quizzed US rapper Ice-T about the origins of his name. The legendary musician and actor appeared on the Aussie program via videolink on Tuesday night to discuss his upcoming movie Zombie Plane, which is currently filming in Australia, when Aly questioned him about his famous 'Ice' moniker. 'Everybody wants to be cool. You know what I'm saying? Being ice is the epitome of cool,' explained the 67-year-old musician, whose real name is Tracy Lauren Marrow. 'I'm Ice-T and I'm not iced tea to drink, I'm Ice capital T. My name starts with a T, my real name is Tracy.' 'So, you know, I was like considered Cool T. I was named after Iceberg Slim. My friends call me Iceberg. They call me Berg.' While Ice – who joined the show via videolink from the Gold Coast set of Zombie Plan e – was a good sport and answered the question graciously, Aly's co-panellist Sam Taunton couldn't help but mock the question. 'Ice, would you say anyone who has to ask the question 'Why do people go for 'Ice' to be cool' is not cool?' 'Yeah,' the rapper replied. 'I would say that, you know, that's kind of a question you get from a real-life square.' Panellists Georgie Tunny and Kate Langbroek, were left in hysterics with their guest's deadpan answer, with Taunton saying he was 'dying' over the rapper's hilarious response. Speaking of Ice, Vanilla Ice joins Ice-T in Zombie Plane, which also stars Chuck Norris and local celebs Sophie Monk and Kyle Sandilands. The horror-comedy initially did not appeal to Ice, who has also made a name for himself by playing Detective Fin Tutuola on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit since 2000. But it was his wife Coco Austin and daughter Chanel who convinced him to sign on. 'They said to me, 'Would you like to come down to Australia and do a Zombie movie?' I'm like, 'No, I'm good. Uh-uh, no,'' he recalled. 'And then my daughter was like, 'Come on, Daddy. Zombies, zombies, we love zombie movies.' And Coco was like, 'A zombie movie? You're going to turn down a zombie movie?' So I'm on a plane to Down Under and here I am.'

Kyle Sandilands announces shock new career move after $200million 10-year mega radio deal
Kyle Sandilands has announced a shock new career move almost two year after signing a 10-year $200million radio deal. The KIIS FM star, 53, revealed on his The Kyle & Jackie O show on Monday morning that he is making his movie debut alongside Chuck Norris for the actor's final-ever film. Sandilands will star in the upcoming Australian action comedy Zombie Plane, which tells the story of high-profile celebrities fighting Zombies on a flight from Sydney to Los Angeles. It stars Chuck Norris, Vanilla Ice, Ice T, Sir Bob Geldof, Brian Austin Green and Sophie Monk as fictitious versions of themselves. Australian stars Natalie Bassingwaithe, Cody Simpson, Matt Okine, Dan Ewing and Amy Shark are also set to appear in the film. 'I don't know whether you'd call it 'movie star', or would you call it a cameo just playing myself in a movie. But yes, I'm doing this,' Kyle revealed on air. Kyle also admitted that he was quite chuffed to be starring alongside his childhood hero, action veteran Chuck Norris. 'Didn't you use to watch Chuck Norris growing up and want to be him?' Jackie 'O' Henderson asked her co-star, to which he replied 'Oh, 100 per cent yes.' 'Imagine if someone came along and told your younger self, don't worry, Kyle. You're homeless now but one day, you're going to be in a movie with Chuck Norris,' Jackie added. 'I would've probably not believed them, Jackie,' the future movie star replied. Kyle then went on to explain the action packed plot of the upcoming flick. 'Prepare yourself. Zombie Plane. That's right. Zombie Plane,' Kyle said, revealing the film's title. 'Sydney to LA, a flight is taken over by zombies and an eclectic group of high-profile passengers led by celebrities turned secret agents, must band together to fight to save humanity. Have you ever heard of a better plot ever? The KIIS FM star, 53, revealed on his Kyle & Jackie O show on Monday morning that he is making his movie debut alongside Chuck Norris for the actor's final-ever film. Jackie agreed, saying the film had 'Oscars written all over it'. 'I'm actually picking out my Oscars outfit now,' Kyle said in anticipation of his soon-to-be superstardom. 'Who's doing the soundtrack? FloRida. Hello. Everything's lined up for success here. I love it. We'll be going to Cannes, probably. We'll be going to all the film festivals. Probably.' He added: 'Move over, Leo. You've had your turn. It's Sandilands' turn.' While admitting the script was under strict embargo, Kyle did spill some details of what his role would entail. 'I'm playing myself as a very rich man on a super yacht,' he said. 'Then a big American submarine pops u and out pops Ice T who's in charge of the submarine and I've got to help them.' He also revealed that his scenes would require a full day's filming on the Gold Coast this week. 'I'm flying to the Gold Coast today and I film tomorrow all day. I'll still do the radio show in the morning from the hotel then I'll be off to the film set,' he said. While Hollywood may be beckoning, Kyle still has plenty of life in his radio career yet. Kyle and Jackie signed a record-breaking $200 million deal with Australian Radio Network (ARN) in November 2023 that would see them remain on airwaves until 2034 - earning a whopping $10m per year salary each. In January, the duo opened up about what their extensive contracts stated would happen to the show if one of them were to die. 'I've got a whole page in there about what happens if you die,' Jackie told Kyle.

'Stop, collaborate, and listen' Vanilla Ice prepares to hit the stage in downtown Wichita Falls
WICHITA FALLS (KFDX/KJTL) — We are just over 24 hours away from the iconic hip-hop artist known for his billboard chart-topping hit 'Ice Ice Baby.' That's right. The one and only Vanilla Ice will perform at On Tour Live in downtown Wichita Falls on Saturday, March 29, starting at 9 p.m. Wyatt Ferguson, owner of On Tour Live, said Taco Darlin' will provide food, and an open bar will be available. For general admission, you can bring lawn chairs, but be mindful that seating is limited. 'The biggest thing here, honestly, is, there's a lot of people all over Wichita Falls that continuously kind of say there's not a whole lot to do here they want to see more live music coming, or they want to see, you know, city buildings being used for live music and such. And so we're trying to do everything we can to bring that,' Ferguson said. Ferguson said he hopes that continuing to put on huge shows like this will put to rest those rumors when someone in town says there's nothing to do in Wichita Falls. 'But the only way it keeps going is by getting supported by the community. And that doesn't mean you have to love every band that we bring. But coming out supporting is what helps us keep doing stuff and bringing those future bands that they do love,' Ferguson said. Tickets are still available. General admission is just $35. Ferguson said he does have a couple of VIP tables left to purchase, and he is offering discounts for educators, police officers and firefighters. Doors open at 6 p.m., DJ Tito hits the stage at 7 p.m., followed by Vanilla Ice. For more information on how to purchase your tickets, click here. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc.
