Israeli army admits to Gaza strike
DUBAI: The Israeli military has admitted to the BBC that it conducted a strike on the Al-Mawasi area of Khan Younis in southern Gaza, which reportedly killed at least one Palestinian and injured 30 others. The attack took place on Sunday, soon after an incident near a new aid distribution center in Rafah. BBC's fact-checking unit, Verify, was analyzing footage of the Rafah incident when it identified a separate strike in nearby Khan Younis. Initially thought to be linked to the Rafah incident, BBC Verify geolocated the footage to Khan Younis, 4.5 km from the aid distribution site. The Khan Younis blast had not been announced by the IDF, which regularly publishes operational updates online. When BBC Verify approached the Israeli military, it admitted it had carried out an artillery strike and said the incident was the result of 'technical and operational errors.' Troops had fired toward a specific target but the artillery deviated and 'wrongfully hit the Mawasi area' in Khan Younis, the military said, without providing any evidence to support its claims. The blast took place in an area where displaced Palestinians had been sheltering. The footage showed bloodied bodies surrounded by dust clouds, BBC said. Women and children could be seen running and screaming as they watched injured people being carried away. The broadcaster emphasized the rarity of the Israeli military acknowledging errors. BBC Verify's analysis of its official Telegram account identified four previous instances where it admitted to mistakes or technical and operational errors related to the war in Gaza.

Straker adds n8n to growing list of AI platform integrations
Don't miss out on the headlines from Stockhead. Followed categories will be added to My News. Straker has launched an integration with AI workflow platform n8n The company delivered record adjusted EBITDA of $4.8 million in FY25 Ord Minnett has upgraded Straker's price target to 52c Special Report: ASX-listed language tech company Straker has extended its reach into the fast-growing enterprise automation market, announcing a new integration with AI workflow platform n8n. This comes just days after Straker (ASX:STG)reported record profitability and winning a price target upgrade from broker Ord Minnett. The integration introduces Straker's Verify product – its AI-powered translation quality and compliance tool – into n8n's ecosystem, giving over 230,000 active users and 3,000 enterprise clients the ability to automate translations, receive real-time quality scores, and seamlessly escalate content to human linguists when needed. The partnership forms part of Straker's broader platform strategy, which has already seen the company integrate its services into workplace staples like Slack, with plans underway to launch in Microsoft Teams. 'As organisations race to adopt generative AI workflows, translation accuracy and oversight cannot become casualties of speed,' said co-founder and CEO Grant Straker. 'This integration with n8n ensures businesses can move fast without compromising on the quality their global audiences demand. It is yet another example of Straker's strategy of leveraging third-party platforms to cost-effectively broaden the reach of our sales efforts and grow Straker's high-margin recurring revenue.' The new capability is particularly relevant to highly regulated sectors such as financial services, healthcare, and legal, where accuracy and compliance are non-negotiable. Users can deploy Verify to automatically trigger translations, evaluate content quality in real time, and apply human oversight only where needed offering both scale and assurance. Record results, stronger margins The announcement comes off the back of Straker's FY25 financial results, which saw the Auckland-based firm deliver revenue of NZ$44.9 million – at the top end of guidance – and adjusted EBITDA of NZ$4.8 million, a company record. Gross margins rose more than 300 basis points to 67 per cent, reflecting a strategic pivot toward AI-enabled, recurring revenue streams and away from lower-margin, legacy translation work. Ord Minnett responded by lifting its 12-month price target for Straker by 42%to A$0.52 per share, citing stronger-than-expected execution and rising profitability. The broker noted that the company's adjusted EBITDA came in 141% above its forecast and described the platform strategy as a 'margin-accretive opportunity'. 'The earnings uplift and expanding contribution from newer offerings such as SwiftBridge and Verify position the company well heading into FY26,' the note said. The company's SwiftBridge product, developed in partnership with IBM, recently launched in Japan to support new Tokyo Stock Exchange disclosure requirements. Meanwhile, Verify – now accessible via n8n – delivered more than NZ$1 million in new revenue in its first year. Straker ended FY25 with NZ$12.9 million in cash and no debt. The company reduced headcount by 15 per cent across the year, including a 32 per cent cut in its Production segment, contributing to sustained operating leverage as it scales its software-led offerings. While no formal FY26 guidance has been issued, management expects margin expansion and further growth in recurring revenue lines to continue. Straker partners with n8n to automate quality AI translations
Straker has expanded its range of AI-powered translation tools through an integration with n8n, an open-source automation platform used by more than 230,000 active users and over 3,000 enterprise clients worldwide. The newly released Straker Verify node is now available within the n8n environment, introducing key capabilities for organisations aiming to automate content translation workflows. The integration enables users to trigger translations automatically when new content is created, receive real-time quality assessments, and direct specific content to human linguists at Straker for further review if required. Straker's approach targets businesses facing the challenge of maintaining translation quality and compliance as they accelerate their use of AI in content creation and localisation efforts. This is particularly relevant for highly regulated sectors, including finance, healthcare, and legal services, where translation accuracy can have compliance implications. Organisations in these sectors benefit from automation by being able to quickly scale global content delivery while ensuring linguistic accuracy and meeting regulatory obligations. The integration automates the decision-making process by assigning real-time quality scores to translations and routing content that scores below a certain threshold or is considered high priority for expert human review. Grant Straker, Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder of Straker, said, "As organisations race to adopt generative AI workflows, translation accuracy and oversight cannot become casualties of speed. This integration with n8n ensures businesses can move fast without compromising on the quality their global audiences demand. It is yet another example of Straker's strategy of leveraging third party platforms to cost effectively broaden the reach of our sales efforts and grow Straker's high margin recurring revenue." The integration is consistent with Straker's ongoing strategy to embed its language solutions within widely used workplace platforms. Previously, Straker developed an application for Slack, which allows users to order translations and monitor progress from within the collaboration platform. The company has also announced intentions to offer a similar solution for Microsoft Teams. The n8n automation platform, headquartered in Berlin, is increasingly used as a foundation for building sophisticated AI-enabled business process flows. It offers flexibility through its open-source nature, allowing businesses to deploy the platform on their own infrastructure and maintain control over their data and AI models. According to the announcement, n8n's deep integration with AI models and tools like LangChain enables technical teams to construct workflows that automate research, generation, refinement, and publication of content across channels. Deploying Straker's Verify node within the n8n ecosystem reflects both companies' focus on supporting complex, AI-driven content operations while ensuring workflow flexibility and regulatory compliance. The newly launched integration is accessible to n8n users who register for Verify AI services. This integration with n8n builds on Straker's history of technical development in AI-driven language services, combining automated translation mechanisms with human linguistic expertise where necessary. Both companies highlight the critical importance of balancing speed and accuracy as the adoption of AI in business workflows accelerates globally.

Immunovia AB (FRA:1YR) Q1 2025 Earnings Call Highlights: Transitioning to Commercialization ...
Cash Balance: 37.7 million krona at the end of Q1. Cash Burn Rate: 8.1 million krona per month, consistent with the last 12 months. Expected Cash Coverage: Current cash expected to fund operations through late Q3 2025. Market Capitalization: $118 million. Sensitivity and Specificity (Verify Study): 77% sensitivity and 88% specificity for early-stage pancreatic cancer detection. Sensitivity and Specificity (Clarity Study): 78% sensitivity and 94% specificity for familial and genetic high-risk groups. Warning! GuruFocus has detected 4 Warning Signs with FRA:1YR. Release Date: May 14, 2025 For the complete transcript of the earnings call, please refer to the full earnings call transcript. Immunovia AB (FRA:1YR) is transitioning from product development to commercialization, preparing to launch their PancreaSure test in September 2025. The Verify study showed strong results with 77% sensitivity and 88% specificity in detecting early-stage pancreatic cancer, outperforming traditional imaging methods. The company is actively engaging with strategic partners and advocacy groups to support the launch and dissemination of the PancreaSure test. Immunovia AB (FRA:1YR) has a fully operational CLA accredited lab in the United States, supporting their commercial launch efforts. The company has a robust pipeline of clinical studies, including those funded by the National Institutes of Health, to support reimbursement and further validate their test. Immunovia AB (FRA:1YR) faces potential cost increases due to tariffs on biomarker reagents sourced from Europe. The company has a limited cash runway, with current funds expected to last only until late Q3 2025, necessitating additional financing. There is uncertainty around securing Medicare reimbursement, which is crucial for the test's commercial success in the US market. Foreign exchange fluctuations, particularly between the Swedish krona and the US dollar, pose financial risks. The company is in the early stages of commercialization and still needs to establish a strong market presence and secure a commercial partner. Q: Can you elaborate on the launch efforts and how the initial process will look before integrating the test into HR systems? A: We will have an online portal for physicians to order the test, designed for simplicity. Initially, tests will be ordered through this portal, and we will provide kits for blood collection. Collection can occur on-site at high-risk centers or at thousands of centers across the U.S. The EHR integration will come later, but the portal's simplicity helps mitigate initial concerns. Q: Can you provide details on your current and planned clinical studies? A: We have two main categories of studies: clinical utility and clinical validation. Clinical utility studies demonstrate patient benefits and influence physician decision-making. Two NIH-funded studies will start later this year. Clinical validation studies continue to build evidence of test accuracy in high-risk groups, with a new study announcement expected soon. Q: How do tariffs and trade wars impact your costs and sourcing, especially with a focus on the U.S. market? A: Tariffs primarily affect us through biomarker reagents sourced from Europe. We are paying tariffs unless they are reduced. Most other supplies are from the U.S., but we lack visibility into their supply chains. We aim to reduce costs through process design and automation to offset potential tariff impacts. Q: What are the steps towards receiving Medicare coverage for the test? A: The process involves obtaining a code for the test, applying for a clinical lab fee schedule rate, and undergoing a medical evaluation of our clinical data. We feel confident in our analytical and clinical validation data. Clinical utility studies are ongoing to strengthen our case for Medicare coverage. Q: How has your addressable market increased with the inclusion of pancreatic cysts? A: Many institutions have cyst clinics alongside genetic risk programs. The cyst market is about the same size as the genetic risk group, effectively doubling our addressable market. Cysts identified incidentally often lead to surveillance program enrollment, making this an attractive market. BBC to expand controversial Verify fact-checking unit
The BBC is to expand its Verify fact-checking unit despite several controversies and accusations of political bias. Tim Davie, the broadcaster's director-general, announced plans to 'build Verify across more services globally' and give it a greater role in local UK reporting as part of a mission to 'nurture trust'. The unit was launched by Deborah Turness, the chief executive of BBC News, in 2023. But it has since become one of the corporation's most contentious brands, accused of making factual errors and promoting flawed journalism. Danny Cohen, a former BBC director of television, has accused Verify of anti-Israel bias in its reporting on Gaza. He said the service was 'a major contributor to the damage being done to the BBC's reputation and its commitments to impartiality and accuracy'. It also emerged that Verify used a Labour Party activist to back its analysis of government figures on the farm tax. However, Mr Davie has thrown his weight behind the unit. He said it had an important part to play in the BBC being 'the world's most trusted news provider'. BBC 'hunting for fair funding model' The director-general announced the expansion of Verify in a speech to staff entitled 'A catalyst for building trust'. In the remarks, he reiterated his opposition to the BBC becoming a Netflix-style subscription service. Looking to the future of the licence fee, he said: 'Universal payment is not over.' However, he conceded that the system needed an overhaul. 'The current licence fee works and is delivering the content you see. I think it is a very good system but we are saying that, based on changes in audience behaviour and huge changes in the world, the system should be reformed and should be modernised,' he said. Mr Davie added: 'What we want is a way in which everyone pays for the BBC fairly, and that is what we're hunting for.' The broadcasting boss also said he would like to 'supercharge' the BBC World Service and more than double its audience to one billion people a week, but said the scale of the plan required 'a few hundred million more [pounds] than where we are today'. He also said the corporation was considering launching its own device so that older people who do not have smart televisions can access Freely – an existing online streaming service backed by the BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5. Meanwhile, in a question and answer session after his speech, Mr Davie was asked by one of his reporters if Gary Lineker had broken guidelines earlier this week when he shared a video by Palestine Lobby, a campaign group, which featured an 'anti-Semitic' rat emoji. A terse Mr Davie replied: 'I'd just say the BBC's reputation is held by everyone and when someone makes a mistake it costs us. 'We absolutely need people to be exemplars of BBC values and follow our social media policy, simple as that.' A spokesman for Lineker said the Match of the Day presenter had not noticed the emoji when he reposted the clip on Instagram, but had deleted it after learning of its symbolic meaning. The presenter said in a later statement: 'It was an error on my part for which I apologise unreservedly.'
