Emma Fleming leads home charge at Irish Open, Leona Maguire five shots behind leader
Leona Maguire carded a one-over 72 that currently leaves her five shots off the pace as round one of the KPMG Women's Irish Open continues at Carton House, with amateur Emma Fleming leading the home challenge.
Maguire made birdie at the first and went on to pick up shots at 11 and 18, but sandwiched in between were bogeys on 15 and 16.
Fleming, recently crowned Victorian Amateur champion in Australia, carded a 69 to lie on two under, and that has her two shots behind Swiss player Chiara Tamburlini, who leads the way by a shot.
Of the other Irish competitors that have finished, Aine Donegan and Anna Foster are one under; Lauren Walsh is two over; Beth Coulter and Olivia Costello are three over, with Rebekah Gardener five over.
