Ajinkya Rahane decides not to continue in massive career announcement: ‘I believe it's the right time to…'
Veteran India batter Ajinkya Rahane decided to quit as the captain of Mumbai in domestic cricket on Thursday. Rahane took to social media to announce his decision to step down from the leadership role in Mumbai Cricket. He said the decision was taken because he felt it was the right time to groom a new leader. Ajinkya Rahane quits as Mumbai captain(AFP) "Captaining and winning championships with the Mumbai team has been an absolute honour. With a new domestic season ahead, I believe it's the right time to groom a new leader, and hence I've decided not to continue in the captaincy role," Rahane wrote on X. The 37-year-old, however, made it clear that he has no plans of calling it quits and will remain committed to serve the Mumbai team in all formats as a batter. "I remain fully committed to giving my best as a player and will continue my journey with Mumbai to help us win more trophies. Looking forward to the season," he added. Under Rahane's leadership, Mumbai won the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy last season, and he was also the tournament's highest run-scorer. Mumbai also made it to the semi-finals of the Ranji Trophy, where they lost to Vidharbha by 90 runs. Rahane, 37, last played competitive cricket during the IPL 2025, scoring 390 runs from 13 matches for the Kolkata Knight Riders. As Rahane has now decided to quit as Mumbai captain, it will be interesting to see whether KKR decide to change their captain ahead of next season.

IPL: SRH sign Harsh Dubey as replacement of Smaran Ravichandran
Sunrisers Hyderabad have signed Harsh Dubey as an injury replacement for Smaran Ravichandran for the remainder of the IPL 2025 on Monday. He will be joining the franchise for INR 30 lakh. The nature of Ravichandran's injury is not specified. Interestingly, Ravichandran was a replacement himself. He had replaced Australian spinner Adam Zampa who injured his shoulders three weeks ago. Harsh Dubey has been making his name in the domestic circuit as a handy all-rounder. The 22-year-old Dubey has 127 wickets and 941 runs against his name from 16 T20s, 20 List A and 18 First-Class matches he has played. 🚨 𝗡𝗘𝗪𝗦 🚨 Sunrisers Hyderabad sign Harsh Dubey as injury replacement for Smaran Ravichandran. Details 🔽 #TATAIPL | @SunRisers — IndianPremierLeague (@ IPL) May 5, 2025 Dubey rose to prominence which is historic feat of 69 wickets in the 2024-25 Ranji Season for Vidharbha as he broke the record of most wickets in a single Ranji season held by Bihar's Ashutosh Aman. Dubey was a crucial cog in the title winning campaign for Vidharbha. Finalists in the previous edition, Sunrisers Hyderabad are struggling massively this season. The all-aggressive approach during batting was the biggest strength of the team last season but it has failed this year due to inconsistency. The likes of Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma has blown hot and cold while Ishan Kishan after the century in the first game has performed poorly. Bowling has been another concern for SRH with their main bowlers Pat Cummins and Mohmmed Shami performing poorly. The franchise has won just three of their ten games so far and are in ninth place on the points table. Even if they win their remaining four games, they can only get to 14 points, which will leave them hoping a couple of the top-performing teams get on a losing streak. The poor net run rate of -1.192 won't help SRH as it is the poorest of the team including the already eliminated Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Rajashthan Royals (RR).
