Florida housing inventory hits record high as Central Florida ZIP codes see surge in new listings

Florida now has a record amount of housing inventory — and these Central Florida ZIP codes have seen the largest year-over-year increases in new home sale listings. An analysis from The Business Journals using data from Intercontinental Exchange shows which local neighborhoods have seen the most dramatic jumps in new listings, and which have the most total new listings as of Q1 2025. Downtown Orlando movie theater's closure sparks speculation on new uses, redevelopment

A former movie theater in downtown Orlando may see an opportunity for new life in another form. The CMX Plaza Cinema Cafe 12 at 155 S. Orange Ave. has been closed since late February or early March, according to a recorded movie schedule for the theater. Escalators and stairways to the theater are blocked. Mystery firm's ‘Project Beep' eyes $247M investment, 1,000 jobs for Florida's Space Coast

The company's investment, codenamed 'Project Beep,' is in the works with Space Florida, the state agency tasked with growing Florida's space industry. All told, the project entails an investment of about $247 million and should create 1,000 local jobs. Permits reveal Trader Joe's next Central Florida expansion target

A building permit was filed May 19 in Brevard County for a project with the description 'interior buildout Trader Joe's' — suggesting the ultra-popular grocery store is headed to The Avenue Viera lifestyle center near Melbourne. New Jersey-based CP Venture Five AV LLC, an entity tied to Avenue Viera co-owner and co-manager PGIM Real Estate, applied for the permit. Brian Kern of Oculus Inc. is the applicant. Mount Dora project with Chick-fil-A, Texas Roadhouse, more gets timeline to open

A Lake County retail project with several high-profile tenants likely will see its restaurants debut by the end of the year, according to its developer. Andy Hawkins, development partner for Clearwater-based One Oak Development, told Orlando Business Journal restaurant tenants at Mount Dora Groves South — his firm's 17-acre project on the south side of U.S. 441 in Mount Dora near Loch Levin and adjacent Taylor Morrison's large residential project there — should open by the fourth quarter. These include Chick-fil-A, Texas Roadhouse, First Watch and Mission BBQ, plus a to-be-named restaurant concept negotiating for a 3,000-square-foot space. Heartland Dental also is confirmed as a tenant for the project, which is permitted and under construction, along with a Fifth Third Bank and Circle K.
