Winston-Salem police launch investigation after man is found dead in home on Timlic Avenue
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (WGHP) — The Winston-Salem Police Department is investigating after a man was found dead Saturday, according to an incident alert. At 12:54 p.m., the WSPD responded to an apartment on Timlic Avenue to assist an EMS call. Officers found Fernando Rodriguez Mendoza, 58, dead inside the apartment. The WSPD Criminal Investigations Division has taken over the case as the circumstances and cause of death are undetermined. Pedestrian dies after being hit by car in Winston-Salem on Peters Creek Parkway, police say
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (WGHP) — A pedestrian who was hit by a car while crossing the street in Winston-Salem died over the weekend, according to a Winston-Salem Police Department news release. On May 19, WSPD officers responded to a crash in the 3100 block of Peters Creek Parkway. Fernando Rodriguez Garcia, 51, was crossing the road on foot when he was hit by a 2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser. He was taken to a hospital, where he died on Friday. He was transported to a local hospital by Emergency Medical Services (EMS), where he later succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash. Teen injured in shooting on Niblick Drive, Winston-Salem police say
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (WGHP) — Winston-Salem police are investigating a shooting that left a teen injured Saturday evening. According to the Winston-Salem Police Department, at 6:29 p.m., officers responded to the intersection of Grandview Club Road at Duffer Lane, where an 18-year-old man was found suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to a local medical facility for treatment. Investigative leads took officers to the 4200 block of Niblick Drive, where a crime scene was located. The shooting remains under investigation. Anyone with information related to the shooting is asked to call the WSPD's non-emergency number at (336) 773-7700. 1 charged after assaulting man in hotel elevator, Winston-Salem police say
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (WGHP) — A man who is accused of assaulting another inside a hotel elevator has been arrested and charged, according to the Winston-Salem Police Department. Around midnight Saturday, the WSPD responded to a vandalism call at the Courtyard Marriott Hotel on West Fourth Street where hotel personnel stated that the suspect, Bertrand Christopher Gray, 41, was inside an elevator with a 65-year-old man. Officers responded to the elevator where the 65-year-old man was found suffering from injuries consistent with assault. He was taken to a local hospital. Gray was arrested and charged with assault inflicting serious injury and one other charge. He appeared before a magistrate where he was given a $10,000 secured bond.
