World Supercross Championship (WSX) announces five-round 2025 schedule
The World Supercross Championship (WSX) announced a five-round schedule that begins October 18, 2025 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and ends December 13, 2025 in Cape Town, South Africa. A previously announced round in London was canceled. These five rounds will bridge five continents. 'The 2025 calendar is a defining moment for World Supercross, as we continue to push the sport to new territories and audiences,' said Tom Burwell, CEO of SX Global in a news release. 'Expanding into new regions like Malaysia, Argentina and South Africa, alongside returning to key markets like Canada and Australia, highlights our vision to make supercross a truly global spectacle. Delivering elite supercross racing to five continents for the first time is a huge moment. This will be the biggest and best season yet.' The season opener in Malaysia will be hosted at Stadium Merdeka in Kuala Lumpur and it marks the first time in series history that a race has been held in that country. Round 2 also represents a new venue with Buenos Aries hosting a round on November 8 at the Oscar & Juan Gálvez Racetrack. This is the first time a WSX supercross track has been built in the confines of an existing racetrack. Vancouver, British Columbia, returns to the schedule at BC Place on November 15. Last year's round represented a return to the market for the first time in 20 years. Eli Tomac and Shane McElrath were victorious. Australia also returns to the schedule, but the venue has changed. Last year the WSX raced in Perth. In 2025, Robina on the Gold Coast will host the fourth round on November 29 at Cbus Super Stadium. The season ends with the South African GP in Cape Town, South Africa, on December 13 at DHL Stadium. The World Supercross Championship has added Robina on Australia's Gold Coast to the 2025 calendar, joining London, Buenos Aries, and Cape Town. The full schedule has not yet been released, but the four venues already announced exceed those in 2024. Last year, Australia hosted two rounds in consecutive days, with two other races held in Abu Dhabi and Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. "I absolutely loved being down on the West Coast last season," said Tom Burwell, Chief Executive Officer at World Supercross, in a news release. "The fans were fantastic, and we know the passion of Australia's supercross fans runs deep across the country. So that's why we're bringing World Supercross to the Gold Coast, offering a chance for even more local fans to experience the world's best riders in action up close. At an incredible venue, in front of what I'm sure will be an electric crowd, I can't wait to see the racing unfold in yet another continent – bring it on." Advertisement Last year's Australian Grand Prix was held in Perth, Australia, with Eli Tomac sweeping the doubleheader in the 450 division and Shane McElrath winning both 250 races. "Sun, surf and supercross. This is the perfect event for the Gold Coast, for tourists and motorsport enthusiasts alike," said Tim Mander, Queensland's Minister for Sport and Racing. "This is a global event with huge reach, another fantastic addition to the Queensland sporting calendar, and a great opportunity for kids to be inspired to get involved in sport and active recreation." This will be the fourth season for the WSX in Australia. The 2022 and 2023 GPs were held in Melbourne before moving to Perth for the 2024 races.

South Africa, Buenos Aries, and London to host inaugural World Supercross rounds
The World Supercross Championship has announced three rounds of the 2025 season, all of which will mark the first time a WSX race has been held in the respective market. These markets are Buenos Aries, Argentina; London, England; and Cape Town, South Africa. Buenos Aries will host a round in a newly-built stadium in the central part of the city, London's round will be held at London Stadium, and Cape Town will be contested at DHL Stadium. London will be the third different location for the British Grand Prix, which was held in Cardiff, Wales, in 2022, and Birmingham in 2023. A round was not hosted in the United Kingdom in 2024. 'Expanding World Supercross to new cities like Buenos Aires and London marks a defining moment for the championship,' said Tom Burwell, CEO of World Supercross said in a news release. The world's best supercross riders racing in these iconic cities reflects our commitment to growing the sport globally and delivering unforgettable experiences to fans everywhere. 'Bringing World Supercross to Latin America, with its vibrant culture and passionate supercross fanbase, has been a goal from the moment we took the reins of the championship earlier this year. London, with its world-class facilities and rich sporting legacy, is another perfect destination for us. The 2025 season marks the fourth edition of the international supercross series. 'It's exciting to see World Supercross making its way to Argentina and return to the UK,' said 2024 champion Eli Tomac. 'Buenos Aires and London are both such vibrant cities, and hosting races there shows the championship's dedication to bringing supercross to iconic locations around the world. Expanding to places like this is a big move for the sport and sets the stage for even more growth.' Ken Roczen won the first two championships (2022 and 2023) over Joey Savatgy. Tomac won the title last year over Ken Roczen; Savatgy kept his streak of podium finishes alive with a third-place standing in 2024. The Cape Town race will be the first time the series has visited the continent of Africa. 'Expanding our racing calendar into Africa is a historic milestone for World Supercross and a reflection of our ambition to bring supercross to fans in every corner of the globe,' Burwell said. 'South Africa has a rich sporting heritage, and we're excited to put on a show with world-class riders and a fan first experience.
