South Africa, Buenos Aries, and London to host inaugural World Supercross rounds
The World Supercross Championship has announced three rounds of the 2025 season, all of which will mark the first time a WSX race has been held in the respective market. These markets are Buenos Aries, Argentina; London, England; and Cape Town, South Africa.
Buenos Aries will host a round in a newly-built stadium in the central part of the city, London's round will be held at London Stadium, and Cape Town will be contested at DHL Stadium.
London will be the third different location for the British Grand Prix, which was held in Cardiff, Wales, in 2022, and Birmingham in 2023. A round was not hosted in the United Kingdom in 2024.

The 2025 season marks the fourth edition of the international supercross series.

Expanding to places like this is a big move for the sport and sets the stage for even more growth.'
Ken Roczen won the first two championships (2022 and 2023) over Joey Savatgy. Tomac won the title last year over Ken Roczen; Savatgy kept his streak of podium finishes alive with a third-place standing in 2024.
The Cape Town race will be the first time the series has visited the continent of Africa.

The World Supercross Championship (WSX) announced a five-round schedule that begins October 18, 2025 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and ends December 13, 2025 in Cape Town, South Africa. A previously announced round in London was canceled. These five rounds will bridge five continents. 'The 2025 calendar is a defining moment for World Supercross, as we continue to push the sport to new territories and audiences,' said Tom Burwell, CEO of SX Global in a news release. The season opener in Malaysia will be hosted at Stadium Merdeka in Kuala Lumpur and it marks the first time in series history that a race has been held in that country. Round 2 also represents a new venue with Buenos Aries hosting a round on November 8 at the Oscar & Juan Gálvez Racetrack. This is the first time a WSX supercross track has been built in the confines of an existing racetrack. Vancouver, British Columbia, returns to the schedule at BC Place on November 15. Last year's round represented a return to the market for the first time in 20 years. Eli Tomac and Shane McElrath were victorious. Australia also returns to the schedule, but the venue has changed. Last year the WSX raced in Perth. In 2025, Robina on the Gold Coast will host the fourth round on November 29 at Cbus Super Stadium. The season ends with the South African GP in Cape Town, South Africa, on December 13 at DHL Stadium. Franco Morbidelli slams Aleix Espargaro after "unfair" Silverstone MotoGP crash
In the opening lap of MotoGP's British Grand Prix at Silverstone, Aleix Espargaro and Franco Morbidelli came together in an incident that led Espargaro to retire from the GP. Time has done little to cool tempers, and Morbidelli says he 'could've been much harsher' in his criticism of the Honda rider. It happened early, during the first lap of the initial start, when the Italian and the Spaniard found themselves toward the back of the pack after Morbidelli botched his getaway from tenth on the grid. Advertisement There, the Honda test rider lost control of his prototype and ended up colliding with the VR46 rider. Fortunately for Morbidelli, oil that spilled from his own Ducati led the marshals to wave the red flag and this allowed him to hop onto his second bike and rejoin the British GP. A fourth-place finish for Morbidelli brought some consolation but did little to erase what had happened with Espargaro – whom Morbidelli even accused of having something personal against him. The Catalan rider responded directly in a social media post, using sarcasm to make it clear that, obviously, crashing and taking Morbidelli out had not been part of his plan. Morbidelli argued that, in his view, the incident exposed the poor conduct of the Spanish rider. 'I hate hearing that I was being harsh, because I could've been much harsher. The time that's passed hasn't changed my perspective one bit,' Morbidelli said, before detailing the reasons why, in his opinion, the older Espargaró brother should rethink how he approaches race weekends now that he is no longer a full-time rider. 'What happened to me on Sunday at Silverstone was unfair. That's not how a test rider should behave when racing against someone who's fighting for important points. That's regardless of whether Aleix made a mistake — which he did,' Morbidelli added. 'That mistake says a lot. First, it means a test rider isn't fulfilling his main role: gathering data for the factory. Even more so if, like in his case, he spends the whole weekend riding two seconds off the pace, only to crash on the first lap. But I simply said it seems like he's got something against me—because we've had our clashes in the past.' Despite the incident, which fractured the talus bone in his left foot, Morbidelli hailed his "amazing" recovery in the race. The Italian fought back to finish fourth on the road and, in the final laps of the race, even battled fiercely with championship leader Marc Marquez.
