ELS get upgraded with innovative, crew-friendly modifications
Visakhapatnam: Electrical Loco Shed (ELS), Visakhapatnam, has introduced a series of innovative, crew-friendly modifications in WAP7 locomotive (37419), setting a new benchmark in operational excellence and crew comfort. Retrofitted crew desk, enhanced cab AC ducting, ventilated and improved seats, superior seating for enhanced driving comfort, motor-operated side window shutters, caution order display, rear view camera, anti-slip flooring with radium stickers, driver tool box, adjustable cab spot lights are some of the key feature improvements made to the loco engine. The upgraded locomotive was ceremoniously flagged off by Divisional Railway Manager (DRM), Waltair, Lalit Bohra at Electric Loco Shed, Visakhapatnam. Recognising the dedication and innovation demonstrated by the ELS, VSKP team, DRM has announced a cash award of Rs 5,000. Speaking on the occasion, Lalit Bohra said, 'These modifications reflect our commitment to crew welfare and operational excellence. I congratulate the team for their innovative approach and wish them success at the All India Electric Loco Cab Competition.' Launched under the guidance of senior divisional electrical engineer B Shanmukha Rao, these enhancements have been carried out as part of the ELS/VSKP's entry into the 'All India Electric Loco Cab Competition' to be held at Banaras Locomotive Works (BLW).

Keeping children engaged through various sessions
Visakhapatnam: East Coast Railway Sports Association (ECoRSA) – Waltair has launched its annual 'Summer Coaching Camp 2025.' Started recently, the 40-day camp that continues till May 31 at Waltair Railway Stadium in Visakhapatnam drew enthusiastic participation from over 200 children, aged 5 to 15 years. The camp has both morning and evening sessions. As part of it, a dedicated yoga camp is being conducted under the guidance of Jyotsna Bohra, president of the East Coast Railway Women's Welfare Organisation (ECoRWWO), Waltair. This initiative aims to instil healthy habits and promote mental well-being among young participants. Children are actively participating in the yoga sessions, making the most of this opportunity. The free summer coaching camp offers a wide range of sports disciplines including yoga, athletics, boxing, basketball, cricket, ball badminton, football, badminton, swimming, table tennis, tennis, and volleyball. The platform is open to children of railway employees as well as residents of Visakhapatnam. Participants benefit from expert coaching and access to sophisticated sports facilities at the Waltair Railway Stadium. The initiative's primary objective is to nurture young talent, foster a spirit of sportsmanship and offer a platform for local youth to pursue excellence in sports at the national and international levels. Registration is currently open, with specific entry norms applicable for cricket, swimming, and tennis. More trips of special train services to clear summer rush
Train no. 08579 Visakhapatnam–Cherlapalli Special and train no. 08311 Sambalpur–Erode Special are being extended by some trips to clear the summer rush. Train no. 08579 will leave Visakhapatnam on April 25, May 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30 at 5.30 p.m. to reach Duvvada at 6.03 p.m. It will depart at 6.05 p.m. and reach Cherlapalli at 7.20 a.m. the next day. In the return direction, 08580 Cherlapalli-Visakhapatnam Special train will leave Cherlapalli on April 26, May 3, 10, 17, 24 and 31 at 7 p.m. to reach Duvvada at 6.38 a.m. and leave at 6.40 a.m. and arrives in Visakhapatnam Junction at 8 a.m. These trains will have halts at Duvvada, Anakapalli, Elamanchili, Annavaram, Samalkot, Rajahmundry, Nidadavolu, Tanuku, Bhimavaram, Akividu, Kaikalur, Gudivada, Vijayawada, Guntur, Sattenapalli, Piduguralla, Nadikudi, Miryalaguda and Nalgonda. These trains will have two II-tier AC, three III-tier AC, Two 3E, eight sleeper class, four general second class, a second class luggage-cum-Divyangjan coach, and a generator tor car. Similarly, train no.08311 Sambalpur– Erode Weekly Special Express will leave Sambalpur on Wednesdays at 11.35 a.m. from May 7 to June 25 to reach Duvvada on the same day at 9.30 p.m. and depart at 9.32 p.m. to reach Erode on Thursdays at 8.30 a.m. In the return direction, train no. 08312 Erode–Sambalpur Weekly Special will leave Erode on Fridays at 2.45 p.m. from May 9 to June 27 to reach Duvvada on the next day at 1.08 p.m. and departs at 1.10 p.m. to reach Sambalpur on Saturday at 11.15 p.m., according to a statement issued by K. Saandeep, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager of Waltair. This train will have one II-tier AC, three III-tier AC, nine sleeper class, three general second class, two second class cum luggage and Divyangjan coaches.

CRS inspects newly laid double line between Darliput and Padua stations
Brijesh Kumar Mishra, Commissioner of Railway Safety, South Eastern Circle, inspected the newly constructed electrified double line of 9.78 km between Darliput and Padua stations in connection with the Kottavalasa - Koraput Doubling Project on Tuesday. Divisional Railway Manager, Waltair, Lalit Bohra; Chief Administrative Officer (Construction) Ankush Gupta, Chief Bridge Engineer Ashok Kumar; Chief Engineer (Construction) Srinivasa Rao; Chief Electrical Engineer (Construction) Sansanwala; Chief Signal Engineer, Chief Signal & Telecom Engineer (Construction); Deputy CRS officers and other officers from the Division accompanied Commissioner Railway Safety during the inspection. The newly laid section features 60 kg rails, including major and minor bridges and curves, constructed to accommodate a 25 T axle load. The inspection was completed, speed trials were conducted successfully, and authorisation was received for full-fledged commissioning. It is part of the doubling project of the Koraput-Rayagada line. This was achieved through the concerted efforts of the Civil Engineering, Signal & Telecom, and Electrical departments of the Construction Organisation, in close coordination with operations and traffic planning by the Waltair Division, according to K. Saandeep, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager of Waltair. The work involved navigating tough geographical terrain, cutting through hard rock, and navigating steep gradients and curves. As a part of this project, several traffic facilities, including new cross-overs laid at station yards, high-level platforms, and bridges, were also inspected.

East Coast Railway Sports Association summer camp to begin today
A Summer Camp 2025 is being organised by the East Coast Railway Sports Association - Waltair from April 22 to May 31, 2023. Divisional Railway Manager Lalit Bohra released a poster about the summer camp on Monday. The camp will offer coaching in various sports for children between the ages of 5 and 15. Every day, there will be morning and evening sessions. ADRM (Operations) Manoj Kumar Sahoo, ADRM (Infra) E. Santharam, sports officer M. Haranath, sports advisor A.K. Moharana, joint sports officer Avinash, treasurer Jusuf Kabir Ansari, assistant sports officers Sh. Patil, Sahu, and general secretary N. Usha were present. Training will be given in athletics, boxing, basketball, cricket, ball badminton, football, shuttle badminton, skating, swimming, table tennis, tennis, and volleyball. Mr. Bohra said that the summer coaching camp was open to children of Railway employees as well as others from the city.e.
