Lena Dunham flashes cryptic thigh tattoo as she directs Natalie Portman and Rashida Jones for Good Sex in NYC

Lena Dunham flashed a rarely glimpsed tattoo on Wednesday as she shot a new project with stars Natalie Portman and Rashida Jones in New York City. The 39-year-old actor, writer and director was pictured in Manhattan's Washington Square Park as she helmed a scene with the two actress for her upcoming feature Netflix rom-com Good Sex. She was hot on a new project shortly after her Netflix series Too Much, which stars Hacks actress Megan Stalter and The White Lotus season two's Will Sharpe premiered on July 10 to stellar reviews. Lena stood out on her set in a pair of denim shorts that revealed a tattoo on her left thing with a banner reading 'My Beastly Shadow' and featuring a squiggly, abstract design. Although the Girls creator catalogued several of her tattoos earlier in her career and shared the inspirations behind them, this ink has so far gone unremarked on. She appears to have gotten the tattoo sometime in 2020. Lena was hot on a new project shortly after her Netflix series Too Much, which stars Hacks actress Megan Stalter (pictured) and The White Lotus season two's Will Sharpe premiered on July 10 to stellar reviews It's unclear if the 'Beastly Shadow' of the text could refer to one of her pets. In 2018, she suffered a tragedy when her Yorkie Bowie died, and only months earlier her cat Gia Maria had died. Dunham now appears to be a cat and dog owner again, and she regularly poses with her dog Ingrid on social media. Dunham rounded out her casual outfit on Wednesday with a black T-shirt and red flats for a splash of color. Natalie was seen with her between takes in a ruffled white blouse with a long black ribbon. She showcased her legs in a black mini skirt with chic black leather loafers, and she accessorized with a semicircular black handbag. Rashida's costume featured a midnight blue mini dress with a jacket decorated with a brown-and-yellow lattice pattern and strappy beige sandals, though she slipped into a pair of more-comfortable black clogs when she was seen chatting with Natalie and Lena off camera. Good Sex stars Natalie as a couples therapist who reluctantly explores the dating world at the start of her 40s following a string of relationships that haven't worked out. The film also stars Mark Ruffalo, Severance's Tramell Tillman and Meg Ryan. Natalie plays a couples therapist getting back into dating at 40 after at a string of failed relationships The film also stars Mark Ruffalo and Severance breakout star Tramell Tillman, while Meg Ryan returns to starring in a rom-com after rising to fame in them. As part of her press tour for her new show Too Much, Lena chatted with Variety for a profile earlier this month. She spoke about how protective she felt over her actors, who engage in extensive sex scenes in the show. 'If anybody has anything to say about any of my actors — I keep my mouth shut on most things these days but try a b****,' she said. 'I'm not playing around here. It's the only time that I'm going to be taking my hoops out, ready to fight.' The comment landed her in hot water with some social media commenters, who claimed the statement was an example of cultural appropriation, while one person said she was 'cosplaying a black woman.' Elsewhere, she suggested she wasn't 'protective enough' of herself after being body-shamed in the past, particularly for her work on Girls. She also took 'merciless' body shamers to task and noted that she had experienced people's cruel reactions to her body in multiple different states. 'I have been in Hollywood at every size. I have been a sample size [a size two], I have had my body change because of life, illness, aging, menopause. And it is merciless wherever you are,' she admitted.

Sarah Jessica Parker Reveals Whether or Not She'd Wear Carrie Bradshaw's Outfits — Including 'That' Ginormous Hat

Sarah Jessica Parker shared her unfiltered thoughts on Carrie Bradshaw's wardrobe during her appearance of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen The actress revealed what Carrie Bradshaw outfit she would never be caught wearing, leading her to share her take on the viral gingham hat she wore in season 3 of And Just Like That... Designer Maryam Keyhani made the large floppy gingham headwear, which divided the internetSarah Jessica Parker just isn't all that into Carrie Bradshaw's wardrobe. While the fictional Sex & the City columnist still reigns supreme for her covetable closet in the eyes of fashion savants around the world, Parker, 60, just broke the news that she and Carrie aren't exactly the same when it comes to style. In a Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen segment called "The Shady Hat" (inspired by the viral gingham hat Carrie wore in season 3 of And Just Like That...), the actress got real about her character's outfit choices when asked if there is "one thing that Carrie has worn that you, SJP, would never be caught dead in." "There's piles and piles of laundry of things that I would never wear," answered Parker, who was then asked if she'd brave wearing that hat in real life. "I have to have a really good reason. I probably wouldn't have strolled around Washington Square Park." The actress added, "I do want to say that milliner is a woman named Maryam Keyhani and she's amazing. That hat is one of many pieces of works of art, whatever, you want to make it a funny thing, but she's incredible." Despite the discourse it caused for being controversially big, Parker revealed to USA Today that she was the one who chose the accessory and insisted that it make its way to the camera. is now available in the Apple App Store! Download it now for the most binge-worthy celeb content, exclusive video clips, astrology updates and more! 'I saw the hat and wanted it on my head,' she told the outlet about the fashion choice made for the spinoff's season 3 premiere. 'At this point, there's no pretend dilly-dallying around. We pretty much just put stuff on my head and photograph it, and hope that Michael Patrick [King, executive producer of the show] is hospitable to the idea.' 'It's like, 'Hey, everybody, we're back! Here's a hat that Carrie would wear eating sherbet in Washington Square Park. Why not?' ' King, 70, explained. 'I've learned over the years that sometimes logic is not as good as a hat. It makes people say, 'I love it. I hate it. Oh, my God, what was she thinking?' " Never miss a story — sign up for to stay up-to-date on the best of what PEOPLE has to offer, from celebrity news to compelling human interest stories. During her appearance on WWHL, Parker also addressed who she thought had the worst style on Sex & the City. In the original 1998 cast, Parker starred alongside Cynthia Nixon (Miranda), Kristin Davis (Charlotte) and Kim Cattrall (Samantha). "I think there were images at one point of us arriving in New York and the way we dressed, I think there was a montage of our arrival like newborn babies exposed to nothing. So, I would say all of us at the beginning," she admitted. Although Parker's personal style doesn't exactly fit the description of Bradshaw's, there have been moments when she's channeled her character in real life, from attending the New York City Ballet in mismatched heels and a hot pink Zac Posen confection to turning heads at the Met Gala in a statement headpiece of her own choosing. Plus, it's not like the Golden Globe winner isn't in possession of Carrie's iconic staples — in fact, she owns them all! In a December 2021 issue of Vogue, she revealed that she has the clothes from all six seasons of Sex and the City in addition to those from the franchise's two movies. "I had all of the original stuff in my own storage. Furniture, clothes, everything, packed according to season and episode and scene," Parker noted, adding in a June 2025 interview with Wonderland Magazine that she has a wardrobe non-negotiable in her contract when she films a project. Man wounded in Washington Square Park was stabbed with own knife, arrested

A 22-year-old man wounded during a fight in Washington Square Park was stabbed with his own knife during a crazed clash and has now been arrested, police said Wednesday. Marquese Haynes is facing menacing and weapons possession charges for allegedly whipping out a blade and threatening Keeshawn Grantnesbitt, also 22, during a stand off inside the iconic Greenwich Village park about 8:55 p.m. Monday. As the two fought, Haynes dropped the knife, which Grantnesbitt picked up and jammed into his stomach, cops said. Medics rushed Haynes to Bellevue Hospital with a minor wound. Both men live in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, according to cops. Grantnesbitt was arrested at the scene for misdemeanor assault and released without bail after a brief arraignment in Manhattan Criminal Court. This was Grantnesbitt's first arrest, cops said. Haynes was charged once he was discharged from the hospital Tuesday morning. At his arraignment, a judge released him without bail, recommending he enroll in an alternative to incarceration program. If he graduates the program, the charges will be dropped. Haynes has been arrested twice before for domestic violence assaults, cops said.
