Meghalaya CM Sangma helps student play guitar during village school visit: ‘Too humble and dashing'

A heartwarming moment featuring Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma has captured the internet's attention, as a video of him helping a student play the guitar during a school visit has gone viral on Instagram, drawing widespread appreciation. During a recent visit to Nongspung A village in the Jirang constituency, Sangma interacted with students at a village school. While taking a round of the school and observing activities, he noticed a student attempting to play the guitar but struggling with strumming. CM Sangma stepped in, and patiently demonstrated the correct finger placements and showed the student the right way to hold and strum the guitar. Sharing the touching moment on his Instagram page, Sangma wrote, 'At Nongspung A village in Jirang, a student showed keen interest in playing the guitar, so I handed one to the school during my visit there. He may be an amateur now, but I'm confident he will learn and play when we inaugurate their new school building someday.' 'I don't know why but he's my favourite CM too humble and dashing,' a user wrote. 'I can't find any good words to express what I feel watching all Your Humbleness and Thank you Sir,' another user commented. 'The act of kindness and love ……it's great to see your time with the students on music,' a third user reacted. 'How I wish I get a privilege to meet such a great leader. Sir you are truly an inspiration,' a fourth user chimed in. In December last year, a video of CM Sangma playing guitar at a cafe made waves on social media. He was seen playing the iconic guitar solo from Iron Maiden's classic track, 'Wasted Years.'

Poole-based band set to release Iron Maiden classic cover

A POOLE-BASED band has released its own version of an Iron Maiden classic. The Whitley Lake Band's take on Wasted Years is set to hit streaming platforms on Monday, March 3. The song, a favourite at their open-mic nights, was originally penned by Iron Maiden's Adrian Smith after a gruelling year of touring. The track's lyrics are said to resonate with listeners, as they reflect life's challenges and triumphs. The Whitley Lake Band, inspired by Iron Maiden's galloping riffs, powerful vocals and guitar solos, used their open-mic night performances of Wasted Years as a base for their own interpretation. This version of Wasted Years has become a live favourite for the band, often prompting singalongs from the crowd. The Whitley Lake Band will perform live at The Thomas Tripp on Thursday, March 27. The band consists of Martin Ramsay on drums, Richie Adams on guitar and vocals and Luke Parnell on bass.
