Iowa State Auditor Rob Sand describes himself as a morning person (though maybe not by former Principal CEO Dan Houston's standards, he joked).
State of play: In the mornings, he likes to read, exercise and work through more complicated audits, he tells Axios.
Zoom in: An app he's been using recently is ScreenZen, which helps limit screen time and make sure he doesn't get bogged down or distracted by his phone.
"It's a great app to increase productivity," he says.
Here's how Sand starts his day:
⏰ Wake up: Between 5-6am.
🍳 Breakfast: He's a "big breakfast" guy and eats Casey's breakfast pizza, Waveland Cafe or a breakfast sandwich at home.
"There's usually eggs and meat involved."
