Kylie Kelce Calls Out Those Who Say Maternity Leave is a 'Break'

Kylie Kelce Calls Out Those Who Say Maternity Leave is a 'Break' originally appeared on WeHaveKids. Those parents who are lucky enough to get to take maternity leave know how negatively some people can view the time off. Many folks incorrectly assume that the leave is some sort of a vacation for new parents, where they get to enjoy a little extra leisure time at the expense (sometime figuratively, and sometimes literally) of their co-workers. Now, Kylie Kelce is speaking out against those naysayers, and she has some really strong opinions on the matter. Related: Kylie Kelce Returns to Podcast 7 Weeks After Giving Birth When Kelce returned to her podcast after her nearly two month long maternity leave, she did so with a vengeance and a bone to pick with anyone who believes that the time a new parent spends recovering from child birth (or in some cases, bonding with a newly adopted baby) is a walk in the park. She sounded off about that mindset on the latest episode of her Not Gonna Lie podcast. "Can I be honest about maternity leave? First of all, I just wanna get ahead of something. Maternity leave is not a break or a vacation," she told her listeners. "That is a crazy concept." "Do you think I was just kicking up my feet and lying in the sun out by the pool and chilling without a care in the world? Because you'd be wrong," she continued. "I birthed a child who prefers contact naps. That's right. I got another Wyatt sleeper." Apparently, Kelce has been attached at the hip to her daughter Finnley "Finn" since her birth, which is why she says she's spent the last seven weeks learning new skills. "Maternity leave for me is figuring out how to do things one-handed again. That is a skill that you have to master," Kelce Joked. "We have graduated to having her wrapped onto me for no exaggeration, probably anywhere from three to five hours of the day, collectively, which is interesting." Honestly, that's a very accurate take on maternity leave. For those who are fortunate to be in a position where it's offered, most of those early days are spent learning how to be a parent and how to live alongside the brand new human in your life. We're glad Kelce is setting the record straight, hopefully the people listen! Khloe Kardashian Shows Up for Tristan Thompson's Brother Amari In a Big Way

Khloe Kardashian Shows Up for Tristan Thompson's Brother Amari In a Big Way originally appeared on WeHaveKids. It doesn't matter that Khloe Kardashian and Tristan Thompson have called it quits, because Koko is always going to be a part of Thompson's little brother's life. After Thompson's mother died, the former NBA star became a fulltime caregiver for his brother Amari. Kardashian immediately offered her former beau her support when that happened, and the trio have been spending time together ever since. This week, Kardashian showed just how big of a part of Amari's life she still is by attending his dance recital, which she even posted about on her social media platform. Related: Khloe Kardashian Shares How She Teachers Her Daughter to Deal With Jealousy Around Her Famous Cousins The mother of two shared some sweet moments from the dance recital, which featured 18-year-old Amari participating from his wheelchair. In one clip, ABBA's "I Have a Dream" played in the background, and Kardashian added a note to the clip sharing about how "happy" Amari was during his performance. In another video, Kardashian caught another ABBA number on film, writing, 'Thank you Lord for these blessings." The recital turned into a full on family affair for the reality stars, and other photos from the evening also featured Kris Jenner. Anyone who follows The Kardashians series on Hulu has had a front row seat to everything that has happened with Amari, including how Koko stepped in to help Thompson manage everything when his mother unexpectedly died, leaving the teen in his care. It seems like the arrangement has worked out for everyone involved, and that Amari now has two families keeping his best interest at heart. Unfortunately for fans of Koko and Thompson's on-again/off-again relationship, it's unlikely that this will be enough to bring the former love birds back together. But, with two children, we'll still get to see plenty of them as they continue to navigate their co-parenting relationship! Hoda Kotb Shares Scary Update About Her Daughter's Health

Hoda Kotb Shares Scary Update About Her Daughter's Health originally appeared on WeHaveKids. We finally know the real reason behind Hoda Kotb's decision to leave her spot at NBC. The mother of two made the announcement while appearing on the Today show, sharing with fans how her daughter Hope's recent health struggles had been a major driver in her decision to step down. The good news is that Hope is doing well now, but it sounds like she has a lifetime of monitoring her health to ensure that she stays that way. Related: Jenna Bush Hager Lists Things She's 'Done With' As a Mom and It's Spot-On According to the doting mom, Kotb's 5-year-old daughter had been diagnosed with Type I diabetes more than a year ago. Kotb talked about the diagnosis, and how her constant worrying about how she was doing at home led her to step down from her position at NBC. 'As anyone with a child who has Type I [knows], especially a little kid, you're constantly watching, you're constantly monitoring, you're constantly checking, which is what I did all the time when I was [at 'Today.'] You're distracted,' Kotb explained, adding that the diagnosis had her rethinking her priorities as a working mom. "I can be here and sweating what's happening to Hope in the morning and in the night, or I can be there and feel relief that I can see,' she continued, nothing that her daughter is fine most of the day, but there are times when she needs a bit more attention from her mother. Fortunately, those large chunks of time where Hope is okay is what gets Kotb through the day, according the mom, who said she did the math and discovered that her daughter has 23.5 good hours a day. "So, for 23 and a half hours, she's every other kid. So I try to remember that.' While Kotb did reiterate that Hope's health was in good shape these days, and even explained how her daughter had been able to reduce the amount of insulin needed each day over the past year, she does still worry about her little girl... as any mom would. Here's hoping that Kotb and her family continue to be in good health, and that the proud mama enjoys this extra time with her family, even if it did come as a result of something scary and stressful. Tia Carrere Celebrates Her Son After He Comes Out as Trans originally appeared on WeHaveKids. It's a boy! Some 19 years after making his entrance into this world, Tia Carrere's son has come out as trans. The 58-year-old shared the happy news, as well as her feelings about it, with People magazine while promoting the new Lilo & Stitch movie. Related: Reese Witherspoon's Daughter Wins the Internet By Hilariously Channeling Her 'Legally Blonde' Character Carrere gushed over her son Jude, telling the magazine that he "doesn't love the spotlight" after the pair walked the red carpet together during the movie's premier. "He's more introverted, so he definitely won't go into acting or singing like I did," she shared, adding that he's a great artist. "I don't know what he'll do! Maybe become a doctor or work with animals. He's working with animals right now." While she doesn't know what Jude will do when he grows up, the proud mama says she knows who he is right now, telling the magazine that her son is "very matter-of-fact." "He knows who he is, and he's very happy." Not only that, but she congratulated her son for being a good friend to his peers. "He's such a sweetheart, he's like the therapist to all the other kids," she continued. "When his friends go out drinking or partying too hard, he's always the designated driver, that kind of caring friend you can always lean on." While she didn't want to take too much credit for how her son, who she shares with ex-husband Simon Wakelin, turned out she is aware that she did a good job giving him the foundation he needed in order to grow into the good person he is today. "I did a good job with that. But I don't want to congratulate myself too much! He's his own person!" Well done mama! We think you should accept the credit where credit is due. Todd and Julie Chrisley Set to Return Home After Pardons

Todd and Julie Chrisley Set to Return Home After Pardons originally appeared on WeHaveKids. When Todd and Julie Chrisley were convicted and sentenced for their role in a massive tax evasion and bank fraud scheme, the couple's children took the news the hardest. That's because the couple was expected to spend 12 and seven years behind bars, respectively, which meant missing out on so many milestones both big and small. Now, in a flurry of pardons, the Chrisleys seem set to be reunited after Donald Trump issued the pair a pardon. Related: Mom in California Sentenced to 25 Years to Life After Hiding Her 11-Year-Old in the Closet for 3 Years The Chrisley Knows Best couple will be headed home. Grayson Chrisley shared the happy news on Instagram, thanking the president for the pardon. Apparently, Grayson wasn't the first Chrisley to hear the news, even though he was the first to share it, because the president called Savannah Chrilsey to let her know what was coming, according to USA Today. Savannah later shared an update as well, celebrating the fact that her parents would be coming home. "I have shed so many tears. The president called me personally as I was walking into Sam's Club and notified me that he was signing pardon paperwork for both my parents," she said. "So both my parents are coming home tonight or tomorrow. And I still don't believe it's real." The Chrisley kiddos have petitioned the administration for help with the release of their parents for several years, according to the publication, and they've been working tirelessly to get their mom and dad home so they can be reunited with their children, which includes a combined five children, plus their granddaughter Chloe, who the couple were raising up until the time of they reported to their separate prison facilities. It looks like the Chrisley kids have a lot to be thankful for these days. Hopefully everyone can readjust to their lives together soon, especially young Chloe, who has been shuffled around so much since her birth.
