Berner Kühl Copenhagen Spring 2026 Collection

For the second season in a row, Frederik Berner Kühl opted for a presentation format instead of a runway show—an apt choice for a designer whose work is focused on quality, rather than creating buzzy moments. This time around, Berner Kühl was inspired by inhabited spaces, and particularly the relationship between our interior lives and our clothes. By way of illustration, the designer brought furniture and decorative objects from his and his partner's own apartment—including a Wegner airport chair and Egon Eiermann desk—to furnish Brigade Gallery (artworks adorning the walls were curated by Berner Kühl from the gallery's collection). A rotation of models slowly made their way through the constructed interior spaces, making themselves at home among the furniture (so much so, it was at times difficult to tell the models apart from stylish guests). The overall effect was cozy: cotton-silk cardigans were layered over sweaters, paired with brown corduroy that could have easily been found on a '70s sofa. In keeping with the theme, the designer worked with heavier fabrics this season, using deadstock silk polyesters and wools—which might otherwise have been turned into curtains—for his tailored outerwear. Elsewhere, lightweight shirts were designed to resemble pajamas that can be worn both inside and outside the home. For Berner Kühl—who grew up with an interiors-obsessed mother—garments should be assigned the same value as the objets d'art that so many of us surround ourselves with. 'These are things we really cherish when used, and then we keep them for ages,' the designer explained. 'Our clothing can be used for as long a time, so it becomes part of your personal collection—you actually start collecting clothing like you would collect objects.'

Sex File: I'm happy in my new relationship, why am I thinking about my ex?

I'm in a happy new relationship, but ever since I saw my ex at a recent event I have found him cropping up in my thoughts, occasionally sexually. Things ended messily and I definitely don't want to get back with him. How do I stop the past from impinging on my future? It was an unexpected encounter that brought back memories of your relationship, the sex you had together and the messy way the whole thing ended. Because those unsettling recollections contrast so starkly with your present feelings of happiness, immediately you tried to put those thoughts to the back of your mind. The problem is that they refuse to stay there. It's ironic that trying not to think about something or someone almost guarantees that you will do precisely the opposite. In 1987 Daniel Wegner, a psychology professor at Harvard University, published a groundbreaking paper called Paradoxical Effects of Thought Suppression in the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology. Wegner's paper described a relatively simple experiment in which 14 male and 20 female psychology students were asked to talk about anything at all for five minutes. The only specific instruction was not to think about a white bear, and they were given a bell to ring if they did. The results showed that participants thought about the bear more than once a minute. Wegner's work highlighted how hard it is not to think about a traumatic event, for example, and explains how going on a diet can make people become hyper-focused on food. For you, trying to suppress unwanted thoughts about sex with your ex is doubly complicated by the fact it feels as if it is a psychological betrayal of your partner. When we try not to think of something, one part of our mind avoids the forbidden thought but another part "checks in" every so often to make sure the thought is not coming up, therefore bringing it to mind. Thought suppression is the most obvious explanation for your intrusive sexual memories, but the fact the relationship ended badly may also be making you feel anxious about the prospects for your present relationship. You don't say how long you and your ex were together, but presumably you were happy with him and your sexual connection at the beginning. Yet that didn't stop the relationship from breaking down. We can't predict the future, and so to some degree all relationships exist in a state of uncertainty. Some sexual relationships start brilliantly and end up a complete disaster. It's scary, but the not knowing can be dynamic; it can be what stops us from taking each other for granted and makes us all raise our game. Wegner's later research explored how best to get rid of intrusive thoughts. He found evidence in favour of strategies such as distraction and mindfulness, but ultimately found that the best thing to do is to get comfortable with them. The more you think about it, the more you will release its power over you. Reflecting on what went wrong in the past may also help you to figure out what to avoid in the future.

Japan's Largest Hans Wegner Retrospective to Exhibit 100+ Chairs From a Storied Collector

While late Danish designerHans Wegner's mid-century chairs continue to enjoy appeal globally, one of his most dedicated archivists lives thousands of miles away from Denmark in Noritsugu, recipient of the 2015 'The 1st Hans J. Wegner Award,' holds what is believed to be the 'largest private chair collection in the world' with a specialization in Scandinavian Modernism. Now, the famed collector is slated to exhibit Wegner's largest Japanese retrospective at Shubuya's Hikarie Hall at the end of the year. The chair researcher'sODA Collection, now held by the Higashikawa Township, will contribute more than 160 authentic Hans Wegner chairs in Japan's largest-ever retrospective for the Danish design master. Having created more than 500 chairs in his life, from the Wishbone Chair (1950) to the curved Shell Chair (1963), Wegner lived to become one of the most influential visionaries of the mid-century design movement. While the full scope of the exhibition has yet to be revealed, exhibition organizer Bunkamara shares that it will showcase four variations of 'The Chair,' including Wegner's prototypes of 'The Chair,' and an old edition with a rattan-wrapped top rail. The ODA Collection Hans Wegner Exhibition will be open from December 2, 2025, to January 18, 202,6 at Hikarie Hall (Shibuya Hikarie 9F), 2-21-1 Shibuya, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo. Further details on tickets and admission will be posted at theBunkamura websiteas the exhibition nears.

Berlin presents bid to rehost Olympics with 100th anniversary of 1936 Games looming

Associated Press BERLIN (AP) — Berlin formally presented its bid to rehost the Olympics on Tuesday in the same stadium where Jesse Owens starred during the 1936 Games under the Nazis. Berlin sports minister Iris Spranger said the city wants to put on a sustainable Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2036, 2040 or 2044, making use of existing sports venues. But her announced plans to include the former airport Tempelhof are likely to be resisted by locals who already opposed any development of the popular city park in a 2014 referendum. Spranger envisaged beach volleyball at the Brandenburg Gate, and water sports in Grünau, a riverside locality which also staged water sports in 1936. Otherwise, Spranger gave few details during the presentation, saying the bid was still at concept phase. 'You'll have to be patient,' she told a journalist. Berlin's bid — titled 'Berlin+' with support from the states of Brandenburg, Saxony, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, and Schleswig-Holstein — is to be presented to the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB) before an end-of-month deadline. It will be up to the DOSB to decide which Games to bid for. Los Angeles is hosting the 2028 Olympics and Brisbane the 2032 Olympics, so the next available edition will be 2036, the 100th anniversary of the Berlin Games. The DOSB previously said a German bid for 2040 was also possible. 'I believe that the 2036 Games, regardless of where they take place, will also focus on the Nazi Games of 1936. That's part of history and attention will be paid to it,' Berlin Mayor Kai Wegner said. 'I have to tell you, I'm proud to be the governing mayor of a city that has changed in the last 100 years, that we no longer stand for dictatorship, exclusion, and mass violence, but that Berlin is now a cosmopolitan, international metropolis, a colorful, diverse city.' Wegner said it was 'important for Germany to make a bid. We're making an offer here today.' Wegner, Spranger, and the governors from the other four states made their presentation in the same battle-scarred stadium, Berlin's Olympiastadion, where Adolf Hitler watched Owens, the Black American athlete, win four gold medals in the 1936 Games, dealing a blow to Hitler's notions of racial superiority. Hitler was personally involved in the design and construction of the 100,000-seat track-and-field stadium after the Nazis assumed power in 1933, two years after the Games were awarded to the city. ___ AP sports: in this topic
