My Chemical Romance fans are 'freaking out' after they tease UK tour

Fans of the American rock band My Chemical Romance are definitely 'not okay' after the emo legends appeared to tease an upcoming UK tour. Considered one of the most influential bands of their era and genre, 'My Chem' released four full studio albums and a string of Platinum-selling singles between 2003 and 2010. The band – comprising singer Gerard Way, guitarists Frank Iero and Ray Toro, bassist Mikey Way, and drummer Bob Bryar for their classic lineup – called it a day in 2013 after more than a decade in the spotlight. My Chemical Romance built a loyal, dedicated fanbase, and their split is believed to have brought the curtain down on a wave of emo music and fashion that rose to prominence in the 2000s. After six years away, the band reunited for a one-off show in 2019 before announcing tour dates across the world in 2020 – these shows were postponed until 2022 as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. At this time, the band released their first new song in eight years – The Foundations of Decay – but a new album never arrived, and the reunion tour concluded in 2023. In tragic news, drummer Bryar was found dead at his home in November 2024, and the band played only two shows that year. My Chemical Romance returned to regular live shows in July 2025 on the Long Live The Black Parade Tour and have more shows planned for 2026, and now a new video on social media has teased a return to the UK for the first time in four years. In the video, which features a parody quiz show called Quizzo, the host asks says: 'Our two fine contestants will help us learn who will be the next lucky country to win the grand prize of one nuclear winter?' After one of the contestants presses a big button, the host shouts, 'Congratulations, United Kingdom!' indicating that the Teenagers hitmakers will be heading here soon. Naturally, My Chem's fans have taken this news calmly. @KofidereVT said: 'My Chemical Romance may have just teased UK dates. I swear to god, I will scream to get an opportunity to see them live again. Gerard Way, don't break my heart.' @Cryophantasm jumped the gun: 'My Chemical Romance has just announced a UK tour, this is not a drill, I am going to die,' while @ArtsTinyHat said they would 'not be calm' about the news. Meanwhile, @RoozNotDead said that My Chemical Romance touring the UK would mean that their money is 'not safe', indicating that they were willing to spend hundreds on tickets. More Trending During their heyday, My Chemical Romance scored nine top 40 singles in the UK and released two top 10 studio albums, with 2006's The Black Parade reaching number two on the album charts. Their biggest win came in October 2006 when their song Welcome to the Black Parade unexpectedly spent two weeks at number one, beating competition from the likes of Nicole Scherzinger, Girls Aloud, and Meat Loaf. Ever since My Chemical Romance (MCR) reunited to headline the When We Were Young music festival in Las Vegas last year, Malaysian fans have been manifesting the band's return to Kuala Lumpur. The last time they performed here was back in 2007 at Stadium Merdeka, where over 10,000 fans sang along to their songs at the top of their lungs. Previously, there have been hints that local concert organisers were working to bring the Grammy-nominated band back to our shores, but until now, nothing had been confirmed. That is, until fans recently began noticing something unusual projected onto billboards around the city. Here's what they saw: Over the weekend, a fan posted on both his TikTok and Twitter accounts about something he encountered while out in Bukit Bintang. In the video, he captured a large digital billboard above the McDonald's outlet briefly displaying the words 'Malaysia, are you okay?' alongside an image of a rose, before switching back to the regular advertisements. Another internet user spotted the same mysterious display on a digital billboard at the side of the road in Bangsar. For context, the rose is strongly associated with MCR, having appeared in the band's merchandise and music videos. With this in mind, the cryptic billboard ads have led many to believe that the 'Welcome to the Black Parade' artists could be performing in Malaysia later this year or in 2026. Many MCR fans reacted to the videos with hopeful excitement, saying they've been waiting nearly two decades for the band's return. Others remain sceptical, speculating that it might be a tribute concert rather than the real thing. A few have suggested that the ads may have nothing to do with MCR at all, noting that the rose alone isn't definitive proof. However, some of the biggest hints pointing to a potential concert include the fact that the band will be embarking on their North American tour, raising the possibility of dates being added in other regions. Warner Music Malaysia have also been sharing nostalgic throwbacks to MCR's music on its Instagram account, drawing more interest. Do you think the group will be coming to Malaysia? In a major throwback to 2006, Jack Black returned to host Saturday Night Live this weekend, and he brought a My Chemical Romance tribute with him. The 3x Golden Globe nominee channeled Gerard Way in the sketch 'Goth Kid on Vacation', which parodied the '06 single 'Welcome to the Black Parade' with a Jamaican reggae medley featuring Kenan Thompson and Ego Nwodim.
