Area police departments escort body of Berea officer to funeral home
MIDDLEBURG HEIGHTS, Ohio (WJW) — Several area police departments escorted the body of a Berea police officer to a Middleburg Heights funeral home after his unexpected death Saturday morning. Sunday afternoon. Officers were also spotted standing at attention in the parking lot. The Berea Police Department announced on Facebook that Sergeant Ean Esposito suffered an 'unexpected medical emergency' and passed away early Saturday. According to the post, Esposito has served the Berea Police Department in many roles since he started in 2011. 'Sgt. Esposito served as a member of the Southwest Enforcement Bureau; he was a field training officer, community engagement officer, school resource officer, defensive tactics instructor, and department range officer,' the post said. 'Sgt. Esposito was instrumental in updating the department's emergency operation plan and took pride in emergency preparedness for both the department and community.' 2 dead after separate crashes in Akron Esposito's family asks that donations be directed to the West Tactical Officer Foundation. Berea police announce unexpected death of ‘valued' officer
BEREA, Ohio (WJW) – The Berea Police Department announced that one of its officers unexpectedly lost his life early Saturday morning. According to the Berea Police Department Facebook page, Sergeant Ean Esposito suffered an 'unexpected medical emergency' and passed away early on Saturday. According to the Facebook post, Esposito has served the Berea Police Department in many roles since he started in 2011. 'Sgt. Esposito served as a member of the Southwest Enforcement Bureau; he was a field training officer, community engagement officer, school resource officer, defensive tactics instructor, and department range officer,' the post said. 'Sgt. Esposito was instrumental in updating the department's emergency operation plan and took pride in emergency preparedness for both the department and community.' According to the police department, Esposito is also a veteran of the United States Army. 'Sgt. Esposito will be missed by all who knew and were touched by his engaging spirit,' the post said. 'Please keep his family, friends, and fellow officers in your thoughts and prayers.' Esposito's family asks that donations be directed to the West Tactical Officer Foundation.
