Berea police announce unexpected death of 'valued' officer
Police cruisers from Cleveland, Strongsville, Fairview Park and Berea were seen pulling into the funeral home off Bagley Rd. Sunday afternoon. Officers were also spotted standing at attention in the parking lot.
The Berea Police Department announced on Facebook that Sergeant Ean Esposito suffered an 'unexpected medical emergency' and passed away early Saturday.
According to the post, Esposito has served the Berea Police Department in many roles since he started in 2011.
'Sgt. Esposito served as a member of the Southwest Enforcement Bureau; he was a field training officer, community engagement officer, school resource officer, defensive tactics instructor, and department range officer,' the post said. 'Sgt. Esposito was instrumental in updating the department's emergency operation plan and took pride in emergency preparedness for both the department and community.'

Esposito's family asks that donations be directed to the West Tactical Officer Foundation.

Someone fired a shot into the office of Chiefs head coach Andy Reid in 2024 while the Chiefs coach was inside, The Kansas City Star reports. Neither Reid nor anyone else was injured, but he now sits behind bulletproof glass in his office window, according to the report. Citing "several sources," including a spokesperson for the Kansas City Police Department, the Star reported Wednesday that the shooting took place in May of last year. Per the report, Reid was working alone in his office at the Chiefs practice facility after midnight on May 4 when someone from outside the building fired a shot through a window in his office. The bullet then lodged into the wall between the door to Reid's office and his bathroom, roughly 15 feet away from Reid's desk, per the report. Investigation is ongoing KCPD spokesperson Capt. Jacob Becchina told The Star that no arrests have been made or charges filed, and that an investigation is ongoing. The Chiefs declined to comment to the Star about the incident. The motive for the shooting is unclear. 'There is no indication this was a targeted incident at any person or organization," Becchina told the Star. 'Because the building was occupied at the time of the bullet coming through the window, the case is being investigated as an aggravated assault." Per the report, two other bullets were fired at the building during the shooting. One hit the third floor, one floor above Reid's second-story office. The other hit an outdoor air-conditioning unit. Kansas City's practice facilities reside at the Harry S. Truman Sports Complex, which sits between the Chiefs' home field at Arrowhead Stadium and Kaufmann Stadium, home of the Kansas City Royals. The facility also houses the Chiefs' front-office staff and corporate offices. Reid, 67, has coached the Chiefs for 12 seasons. He's led the Chiefs to five Super Bowl appearances and three Super Bowl victories in the last six seasons. He was three months removed from leading the Chiefs to a Super Bowl victory over the Philadelphia Eagles at the time of the shooting. The Chiefs are currently preparing for their third and final preseason game against the Chicago Bears on Friday. The Chiefs will open their regular season at home against the Los Angeles Chargers on Sept. 5.

49ers WR Demarcus Robinson suspended 3 games following DUI charge, team trades for Chiefs WR Skyy Moore
San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Demarcus Robinson will miss the first three games of the season. The NFL suspended Robinson for three games on Wednesday following his DUI arrest last November, head coach Kyle Shanahan confirmed. Robinson is expected to appeal the suspension. 'You can always appeal it, so we'll hope for the best on that, but that's what we are planning for.' Robinson was arrested in November on a DUI charge when he was still playing with the Los Angeles Rams. He was pulled over hours following a loss to the Philadelphia Eagles after officers said they saw him driving more than 100 miles per hour on a Los Angeles-area freeway. He was cited and then released. The Rams did not suspend him for his actions. Robinson later pleaded no contest to misdemeanor DUI. He signed a two-year, $9.5 million deal to join the 49ers in free agency. With the plea deal behind him and the case now closed, the punishment is something that many had expected to be coming down before the start of the 2025 campaign. "[I'm] pretty anxious," Robinson said earlier this month about the impending suspension. "Just waiting on the outcome to see what happens with that. I really don't know the timeframe. Waiting to hear from them, obviously. It's all up to whatever the league says.' Robinson had a career-high 505 yards and seven touchdowns on 31 catches last season with the Rams. The former Florida standout was first selected by the Kansas City Chiefs in the fourth round of the 2016 NFL Draft. He spent six seasons there, and then played one year with the Baltimore Ravens before joining the Rams in 2023. Assuming the three-game suspension is upheld, Robinson will be eligible to return and make his debut with the 49ers on Sept. 28 when they host the Jacksonville Jaguars. 49ers trade for Chiefs WR Skyy Moore With Robinson out for the start of the season and other big injuries at the position, the 49ers made a move to bolster their wide receivers room on Wednesday afternoon. The franchise struck a deal to land Chiefs wide receiver Skyy Moore, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. In exchange, the teams will swap late-round draft picks in 2027. Moore had 244 yards and a touchdown on 21 catches during the 2023 season, his second with the Chiefs after they took him out of Western Michigan the year prior. Moore appeared in just six games last season and didn't make a catch, however, while being extremely limited with a long core muscle injury. Moore should provide some much needed depth for the 49ers, who are very limited at wide receiver to start the year. Star Brandon Aiyuk is still recovering from a torn ACL and MCL injury in his right knee, though he's hopeful to be back on the field around Week 6. Car bursts into flames as suspects flee Ohio police in high-speed chase
A police chase in Sharonville, Ohio, ended when a suspect's vehicle caught fire after weaving through rush-hour traffic at speeds of up to 90 mph. Three suspects were taken into custody following the dramatic pursuit on August 14. The vehicle was wanted in connection with two Cincinnati shootings. Officers are continuing to investigate the case.
