Fire crews attend Bradford street's second fire in three days
Fire crews have attended a second house fire on the same street in Bradford within three days. Emergency services were called to Kesteven Road just before 09:00 BST on Friday.A man and woman were treated for smoke inhalation at the scene and taken to hospital as a precaution, West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service (WYFRS) fire service confirmed smoke alarms were fitted and working, and said an investigation into the cause was underway. On Wednesday firefighters had been called to a nearby property after a shed fire spread to a house, with footage of the blaze showing huge flames and clouds of black smoke coming from the said no-one was believed to have been hurt. Four crews remain at scene of moorland fire
Four fire crews remain at the scene of a large moorland blaze in West Yorkshire. The blaze broke out near Oldham Road in Ripponden at about 12:15 BST on Thursday, with smoke billowing across the M62. West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service said: "Four crews and supporting units are at the scene this morning to monitor the land and watch for any hotspots." The A672 remains closed in both directions. The fire service said at its height the blaze stretched for 1.2 miles (2km) with 18 crews in attendance. In an update, it said: "Dropping temperatures, a moister ground overnight and morning dew is positive for the ongoing situation. "Our drone team will also be attending later today to help crews assess the full scene." The cause of the blaze is not known but it comes after a series of moorland fires in West Yorkshire in recent weeks and follows a long spell of dry weather. Firefighters tackle moorland blaze near M62
Firefighters are tackling a 2km (1.2 mile) long moorland blaze in West Yorkshire. The blaze broke out near Oldham Road in Ripponden at about 12:15 BST, West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service (WYFRS) said. The cause of the blaze is not currently known and smoke has been seen billowing across the M62. A WYFRS spokesperson said 18 crews were at the scene to tackle the fire, which at 17:00 GMT was burning in two directions stretching "approximately 2km each". They added that there were no reports of any people involved. National Highways said the A672 north Oldham Road heading towards Rishworth had been closed due to the fire, but the M62 remained open. The public have been asked to avoid the area. The fire is the latest in a series of moorland blazes in West Yorkshire in recent weeks. Earlier, the Met Office confirmed Thursday was the warmest start to May on record, with temperatures reaching 28C in London. Fourteen fire crews tackle Marsden moorland blaze
More than a dozen fire crews are tackling a large moorland blaze that broke out in the Marsden area of West were called at 13:30 GMT to reports of a fire near March Haigh Reservoir, West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service (WYFRS) an update at 17:00, the service said 14 crews and support units were on the moor, using blowers, beaters and moorland said the blaze covered an area of 6 miles (10km) by 3 miles (5km), and was progressing in the direction of Greater Manchester in the Denholme area. A spokesperson said: "The fire is continuing to burn, with some areas of a flame height of over 1.5m."The public are being reminded to please avoid the area."Crews from Meltham, Slaithwaite, Holmfirth, Skelmanthorpe, Todmorden and Halifax are among those at the scene.
