I Want My Funeral To Be Fun
An unfortunate fact about my life: I have spent a lot of time planning funerals. I was 21 when my mom died of stage four colon cancer. She requested a traditional Methodist service where Cat Stevens/Yusuf Islam's songs were to be played. Both of my American grandparents wanted smaller to-dos in a chapel connected to the funeral home and asked for open caskets (something I still think about to this day). And then there was my dad, who died of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) last year; he had a remarkable-for-the-disease four years to meticulously plan his funeral. The memorandum was full of staunch requests (my fiancé was to read this exact passage from the Bible by memory, there would be a slideshow of approved photos at the country club reception), which made the planning almost too easy for somebody who was larger than life. These experiences helped me learn something important about myself: I want people to have fun at my funeral. After all, the word does have 'fun' in it. Wear an outfit you think I'd like, but please remember I hate high-low dresses, skinny jeans, and khaki pants—the inspiration is Naomi Campbell at Andre Leon Talley's funeral. A movie theater-sized slideshow should be only hot photos of me—if I've ever texted you a tasteful nude, go ahead and throw it in there to remind everybody how good I looked. Let's hire Caffè Panna to hand out ice cream cones while a champagne tower overflows (each glass finished off with a crunched-up antidepressant adorning the rim). Maybe Sephora can do beauty touch-ups on-site, giving everybody a dab of Victoria Beckham lip gloss and a pop of Westman Atelier blush? Book the venue for the entire night, even though we all know if I was there, I would have snuck out at 9:15 p.m. sharp to be home with my cat. But I want my funeral to be a capital P party. Last month, transgender Filipino-American drag performer Bianca Castro-Arabejo (also known as Jiggly Caliente) passed away. Instead of a traditional funeral, 'Slaybill' (a play on Broadway Playbill) was hosted in her honor. The event took the idea of a celebration of life to heart—guests wore pastel colors and the run of show included eulogy-turned-comedy acts all about Caliente, as well as roasts that walked the line between dark humor and just plain dark. Fellow drag queen Karl Westerberg, known as Manila Luzon, embodied it all in his laughing-and-crying-at-the-same-time eulogy. When recalling filming Caliente's Drag Race tryout video in an Apple store, he said 'it was giving a glamorous Augustus Gloop going up the chocolate tube in Willy Wonka,' but also 'I'm so sad we can't keep doing and dreaming bigger and bigger things together.'

Makeup artist reveals how to disguise a 'chubby bunny face' and double chin
For women who worry that they aren't doing their makeup correctly for their face shape, one makeup artist has come to their rescue. Content creator Ask Ellen Beauty shared a video detailing exactly how to disguise a 'chubby face.' The Sydney-based makeup artist announced: 'Before you come for me, I am not telling you to lose weight, to gain weight, or to change yourself in any way.' She told her 700,000 followers, 'People spend thousands on fillers and fat transfers to make their face appear fuller.' The viral makeup artist said that 'some of us, feel full enough and we want a little snatch.' 'My chins, my choice,' she joked, before launching the viral beauty tutorial, which received 145,000 likes. First, Ellen creates the illusion of a 'slimmer neck and a reduced chin.' Instead of contouring under the chin, which she said is 'really obvious,' she makes the face a whole shade lighter than the body. The Aussie beauty expert tans her body and makes the face lighter, highlighting her forehead and below her eyes so it stands out and the fuller parts fall away. 'It's about bringing forward what you do want to see,' she advised. Then, she said if you have 'jowls' or are a 'chubby bunny' it's best to place the Westman Atelier contour from where the ear meets the head to just above the mouth. Ellen under paints the jaw with aggressive, structural shaping since it's going underneath the makeup. She pulls down the shape from underneath her ear using the brush. She then uses Mac Radiance Foundation to blend everything out, including her ears so they match the rest of her face. 'It's actually wild how natural this turns out in person,' she promised. She follows it up with blush, which should be in the same line as the contour but slightly above. At the end of the tutorial, Ellen uses Huda brightening powder to shape the face and does her eyebrows to finish the self-proclaimed 'chubby bunny' look. Commenters loved the tutorial, calling it 'technical and accessible.' Some said they loved their 'chubby' faces since it helped prevent them from aging. Others said that even though they had slim faces, they still watched the entire video to learn her dramatic contouring techniques.

Get The Beauty Look: Gucci Westman's Naturally Sculpted Glow
Westman Atelier campaign Westman Atelier is the clean makeup and skincare brand founded by editorial makeup artist Gucci Westman, and since launching in 2018, the New York-based label has championed a skin-first approach with a minimalist aesthetic. For Westman, the pillars of modern beauty are luxury, efficacy, and clean, consciously-crafted ingredients, and she applies these principles to her product line that include blush sticks and duos, tinted highlight, suede matte lipsticks, and hyper-potent serums that give an oh-so-soft 'second skin' look. Westman Atelier campaign Loved for its clean ingredients and effortless finish, it's no surprise that the brand has earned a loyal following, from Gwyneth Paltrow and Jennifer Aniston to Anne Hathaway, and Reese Witherspoon, with whom Gucci has worked her magic for their red carpet moments. In this guide, Westman shares her three-step routine for achieving a naturally sculpted glow that's designed to enhance all your natural features. Westman Atelier campaign It's important to begin with prepping the skin as it's the base for everything you are applying on top. I like to start with our Skin Activator, which helps to make lines look softer, skin look lifted and pores appear smaller - it really is the perfect base for make-up to sit on. From here, if I'm looking for a natural look I'll use a dab of our Vital Skincare Concealer, for places where more coverage is needed, like under the eyes, over blemishes or redness. If I am after something more full coverage, like an evening or red carpet event, I like to go in with our Vital Skincare Foundation stick as it blurs and conceals any imperfections and photographs really well, whilst still maintaining a skin-like finish. To finish, a few swipes of Vital Pressed Skincare Powder - only where it's needed - it cuts T-zone shine and sets everything into place. Gucci Westman For sculpting there are two options - either a cream or powder contour. I love powder contour just as much as cream. Once you're feeling comfortable with your cream formula, like you've got it down, it can be fun to try a powder version. I like to place it around the cheekbones, bridge of the nose and eyelids to create depth and dimension to the face - it's all about playing with the natural shadows of your face. The trick is to add a little and build - especially with a cream formula, you almost can't go wrong - it's completely blendable and moveable. Another trick I like to use is setting the cream contour with the powder contour for a snatched and sculpted look that will last for hours. Westman Atelier campaign Adding blush breathes life into skin and really completes your base. Our new Baby Cheeks Powder Blush Duos include two different shades of blush, as I like having options and often use both shades together. Using two tones allows you to see the cheekbone in a new way and can really open up the face. Two colors are always more impactful than one in bringing dimension, and in some cases it can give an authenticity of tone that doesn't feel like makeup. I like to use the deeper shade around the hairline and the tops of the cheekbones, and blend the lighter shade into the apples of the cheeks - I've always found subtle contrast interesting.

Everything you need to know about freckles – and the beauty hacks to try
The actor Julianne Moore is in 'great shock' after her first children's book, Freckleface Strawberry, has been suspended in schools run by the Department of Defense in the United States following a presidential executive order. The book, a semi-autobiographical story about a seven-year-old girl who dislikes her freckles but eventually learns to live with them, is 'a book I wrote for my children and for other kids to remind them that we all struggle, but are united by our humanity and our community,' Moore said in an Instagram post on Monday. Moore is a style icon for women with freckles, and at 64 years old has perfected the art of enhancing her skin with make-up without covering her natural marks. Lindsay Lohan, Emma Stone and Sienna Miller are known for their freckles, too. In fact, they have inspired many beauty brands to create specific products to either enhance natural freckles or apply 'faux' freckles to give the appearance of a sunkissed complexion. Here's everything you need to know about freckles. What are freckles? 'Freckles are often used as an umbrella term for what we refer to in dermatology as ephelides and lentigines – brown marks that typically appear on sun-exposed areas,' says the consultant dermatologist Dr Cristina Psomadakis. She agrees they are entirely natural and should not be on a diversity agenda. 'While they can occur in any skin type, they are most common in fair-skinned individuals, particularly those with red hair or Celtic backgrounds.' For people with a high number of freckles, like Julianne Moore, there may also be a genetic link to the MC1R (melanocortin-1 receptor), indicating a hereditary component, adds Dr Psomadakis. Make-up advice if you have freckles 'Don't try to cover up or conceal your freckles,' says the make-up artist Lan Nguyen-Grealis. 'There are lots of brilliant tinted moisturisers on the market that will even out the skin tone naturally while still letting your freckles shine through.' Try Studio Body and Face Foundation by Mac, £38, or the Vital Skincare Complexion Drops, £62, by Westman Atelier. Studio body and face foundation, £38, Mac Vital Skincare Complexion Drops, £62, Westman Atelier Once you've used a tinted moisturiser, a good concealer can work wonders on dark circles or any blemishes. 'Use a stick concealer rather than liquid to not go over the natural freckles,' says Nguyen-Grealis. Try the Pin Point Concealer, £27, by Lisa Eldridge, which is precise and offers a natural finish. Pin Point Concealer, £27, Lisa Eldridge How to create 'faux' freckles Using a product such as The Original Freckle by beauty brand Freck, £18, 'dot the pen across the nose, cheeks and random places allowing space,' says Nguyen-Grealis. 'Work from the outside of your face in, and focus on where the sun naturally hits the face.' To keep your faux freckles in place, spray a setting spray over your make-up for a lasting effect. Try the Airbrush Flawless Setting Spray, £32, by Charlotte Tilbury. Original Freckle, £18, Freck Airbrush Flawless Setting Spray, £32, Charlotte Tilbury If you want a longer-lasting freckle, Nguyen-Grealis suggests using a self tanner with a toothbrush, and 'flick for natural dispersion and leave to dry'. What to wear if you have freckles 'We tend to see more of the warm brown freckles on people with yellow-based undertones,' says the colour consultant Jules Standish. 'Colours that will therefore be flattering are honey and caramel browns, coral reds and pinks, orange, lime green, golden yellow and teal blues.' Julianne Moore falls into this category, and, says Standish, 'looks particularly glowing and gorgeous in gold and ivory, camel, yellow and orange-red.' Gold also suits warmer complexions better than silver. For those with light, cool-brown freckles that appear on blue-based skin tones, such as actress Claire Foy, there are some colours in clothing that will suit you better. 'Icy/pastel blues, raspberry reds, magenta pinks, lavender and taupe, dove grey and sometimes black look fabulous,' says Standish, 'as well as silver.'
