Drake Replaces Kendrick Lamar At No. 1 On Several Billboard Charts
Drake's 'What Did I Miss?' debuts at No. 1 on seven Billboard charts, dethroning Kendrick Lamar and ... More SZA's 'Luther' after a record-setting run. LONDON, ENGLAND - JULY 12: (EDITORIAL USE ONLY) Drake performs live on stage during day two of Wireless Festival 2025 at Finsbury Park on July 12, 2025 in London, England. Drake is headlining an unprecedented all three nights of Wireless Festival. (Photo byfor ABA) Drake demonstrates his immense popularity in the United States yet again this week as his new single 'What Did I Miss?' arrives. The tune debuts at No. 1 on several Billboard charts, including many of the company's top hip-hop and rap tallies. In several instances, the Canadian superstar manages to unseat his rival Kendrick Lamar, who has been ruling some of the most important hip-hop and rap lists for months with what has turned out to be a historic win. Drake Replaces Kendrick Lamar at No. 1 'What Did I Miss?' opens at No. 1 on both the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and Hot Rap Songs charts. Those tallies use a methodology that blends sales, streams, and radio airplay to rank the most consumed tracks in those genres throughout the country. This week, that honor belongs to the latest from Drake. Last frame, Kendrick Lamar ruled both the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and Hot Rap Songs rankings with 'Luther,' one of his collaborations with friend SZA. The tune extended its reign as the longest-running leader on both tallies, earning a twenty-eighth stay in the penthouse. Drake, who publicly feuded with Lamar in 2024, beats the record-setting tune as 'What Did I Miss?' conquers the two rosters. Drake Makes Up for His Recent Near-Miss The arrival of 'What Did I Miss?' at No. 1 must be exciting for Drake. He has reached the summit many times before, but only recently he failed to best Lamar and SZA's 'Luther' with 'Nokia,' the standout smash from Drake's recent album Some Sexy Songs for You. The single stalled in the runner-up spot on both the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and Hot Rap Songs rankings, as well as the Hot 100. Dozens of No. 1 Singles Drake scores his thirty-first No. 1 on both of the general consumption lists. He's now reached the top 10 a staggering 139 times on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs tally and 142 times on the Hot Rap Songs list. In its first frame on the Billboard rosters, 'What Did I Miss?' also opens at No. 1 on all of the following charts: Streaming Songs, Digital Song Sales, R&B/Hip-Hop Streaming Songs, R&B/Hip-Hop Digital Song Sales, Rap Streaming Songs, and Rap Digital Song Sales lists.

Drake's New Single Debuts At No. 1 — But Not On The Most Important Chart
Drake's 'What Did I Miss?' debuts at No. 1 on eight Billboard charts but narrowly misses topping the ... More Hot 100, landing at No. 2 behind Alex Warren's "Ordinary." LONDON, ENGLAND - JULY 12: (EDITORIAL USE ONLY) Drake performs live on stage during day two of Wireless Festival 2025 at Finsbury Park on July 12, 2025 in London, England. Drake is headlining an unprecedented all three nights of Wireless Festival. (Photo byfor ABA) Drake is used to hitting No. 1 whenever he releases new music. The Canadian superstar typically scores a huge launch with either an exciting single or a full-length project, and his latest tune "What Did I Miss?" is no exception to this trend. The track brings the rapper back to the highest reaches on many Billboard rankings as it arrives. While it doesn't debut atop every list, including the Hot 100 — the most important of them all — it does manage to begin its run at No. 1 on multiple rosters, earning Drake even more leaders in the U.S. "What Did I Miss?" Launches at No. 1 "What Did I Miss?" debuts at No. 1 on eight different Billboard charts. The tune performs well enough to lead tallies focused on streaming activity, pure purchases, and overall consumption, but only when looking specifically at genre-focused rosters. Drake commands both the Streaming Songs and Digital Song Sales charts with 'What Did I Miss?' The same cut also manages to lead all of the following half-dozen genre-specific lists: Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, R&B/Hip-Hop Streaming Songs, R&B/Hip-Hop Digital Song Sales, Hot Rap Songs, Rap Streaming Songs, and the Rap Digital Song Sales rankings. Drake Extends His No. 1 Collection Drake is already familiar with the top spot on every tally he reaches with "What Did I Miss?" This week, the Grammy winner racks up his fifteenth leader on the Digital Song Sales chart, which is an impressive figure, but still the lowest number among all the rankings where he leads this frame. The same single becomes his thirty-first No. 1 on both the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and Hot Rap Songs charts simultaneously. "What Did I Miss?" Narrowly Misses the Hot 100's Top Spot Drake almost conquers the Hot 100 again this week, but "What Did I Miss?," appropriately, just misses the summit. The single kicks off its time in the runner-up spot, coming in behind "Ordinary" by Alex Warren, which is turning out to be one of the biggest songs of the year in the U.S. The track gives Drake his eighty-first top 10 smash on the Hot 100, and he extends his lead for the most placements inside that region among all artists. The same cut also becomes a top 40 hit on the Billboard Global 200, Rap Airplay, and Rhythmic Airplay tallies, debuting at Nos. 9, 21, and 36, respectively.

Everything We Know About Drake's ‘Iceman' Album
Like many years of the past, Drake is looking to make the summer his once again. The 6 God returned on July 4 with the cinematic livestream premiere of his introspective 'What Did I Miss' single, which essentially served as the kick-off to his highly anticipated Iceman album. More from Billboard Olivia Rodrigo Guitarist Says Singer Paid For Therapy For Crew On Guts Tour: 'One of the Coolest Things That Has Ever Happened' Kesha Postpones Dallas Show Due to Weather, Asks Fans To Come Back Next Night: 'Let's Party Tomorrow' Spiritbox to Embark on Fall 2025 U.S. Tour Following 'Tsunami Sea' Drake addresses heartbreak and those who have betrayed him in the last year since the explosive battle that took rap by storm with Kendrick Lamar. 'It's love for my brothers and death to a traitor, let's go,' he raps. 'What Did I Miss' hit streaming services on July 5 and topped Spotify's Daily Top Songs USA chart for two consecutive days (July 5-6). Even nearly two decades in and after all of the accolades, it feels like another pivotal point in Drake's career once again with his first solo LP on the horizon since clashing with Lamar in 2024. He'll look to make another statement setting off the summer when he headlines Wireless Fest 2025 in the U.K. for all three nights this weekend. The Friday night (July 4) livestream that accompanied 'What Did I Miss' found Drake also driving through Toronto while tailing the Iceman Toronto-based ice company truck. He scolded a hater and previewed another unreleased track that's tentatively titled 'Supermax.' When Iceman does inevitably arrive, Drake will more than likely break a tie with Jay-Z and Taylor Swift for the most Billboard 200 No. 1 albums of all time with his 15th chart-topper. While there isn't plenty of information out there regarding Iceman (look for more possible streams on the way), here's everything we know so far about Drake's ninth solo studio album. Drake hasn't put a firm release date on Iceman outside of teasing that it's 'coming soon' during Friday night's live-stream and writing 'Iceman 2025″ while leaving an autograph. It doesn't appear as if the project will arrive in time for Drizzy's three nights of headlining at Wireless Festival 2025 this weekend. However, Drake will be staying in the U.K. as he kicks off his $ome $pecial $hows 4 U European tour run with PARTYNEXTDOOR on July 20. There's a break for the first week of August, which is when Drake has traditionally hosted OVO Fest over the years, so that's another possible key date to keep an eye on. If Iceman still hasn't been defrosted by the end of Drake's tour with PND, all eyes will go toward October. After all, he is October's Very Own. After releasing $ome $exy $ongs 4 U in February, which generated long-lasting hits like 'Nokia' and 'Somebody Loves Me,' there probably isn't too much urgency from Drake's side. Drake has been dropping subtle hints about Iceman for months. He's posted photos to IG of his icy jewelry, NBA legend George Gervin, UFC fighter Chuck Liddell, who are both nicknamed the Iceman, and Canada's snowy winters. Of course, Iceman is a Marvel superhero and a founding member of the X-Men. Comic book writer Mike Carey described the Iceman as 'devastatingly honest. He is very up-front with his emotions and his thoughts all the time.' Perhaps this is another alter-ego in the Drake matrix. Drizzy aligned with the Toronto commercial ice packaging company of the same name, which saw him tailing an Iceman promo truck while driving throughout the 6 on Friday night, and he donned Iceman merchandise during the live-stream at the company's warehouse. 'During the actual live-stream, it was pretty crazy… People from all over North America started calling us,' Iceman's Jake Silva told CP24. 'My father's phone started blowing up from a lot of our customers.' 'What Did I Miss' arrived as part of Friday's livestream and then landed on streaming services hours later at midnight on Saturday (July 5). The menacing tune finds Drake examining themes of betrayal while also still passive-aggressively flexing on the competition. The track is littered with subliminals. Some believe there's jabs at Rick Ross and The Weeknd. At one point, he appears to take a shot at either NBA star LeBron James or DeMar DeRozan, who both showed support for Kendrick Lamar when making appearances at K. Dot's Pop Out show. 'I saw bro went to Pop Out with them, but been d—k riding gang since 'Headlines,'' he raps about a friend-turned-adversary. Drizzy uses a mid-beat switch like a valve relieving pressure to change the temperature of 'What Did I Miss.' He enlists a phalanx of producers behind the boards, including frequent collaborators Tay Keith and OZ along with FNZ, DJ Lewis, Patron, Elyas, GYZ, London Cyr and O Lil Angel. 'What Did I Miss' seemingly builds on the themes Drake previously employed on the Conductor Williams-produced 'Fighting Irish Freestyle,' which was quickly scrubbed from YouTube in January and never appeared on DSPs. In the midst of cruising around Toronto during the innovative live-stream, Drake gave fans an assumed preview of the album when playing an unreleased track that's tentatively titled 'Supermax.' Drizzy looks inward and vulnerably opens up about fractured relationships and keeping his focus. 'It's still heartbreak Drake, but I glued it together,' he raps. At one point, the 6 God reveals he had a conversation with TNT sideline reporter Taylor Rooks about how heavy the crown can be. 'Losin' all these friends really got to me/ I was talking to Taylor over drinks, and it was getting deep/ 'Not everyone can handle this pressure and, in thе city, you're the national treasurе,' that's what she said to me,' he ruminates. Rooks reposted the clip to her Instagram Story, seemingly confirming she's the Taylor Drake is referencing on the track. There's been speculation on social media that Drake is freeing himself from his industry ties and going at Iceman as a one-man band. With plenty of Drizzy's former collaborators turning on him during the Kendrick feud, it could make sense for Drake to attack his next album as the lone star of the show. However, if he does decide to go the feature route — it would be the first time in his solo career that he didn't — fans can possibly expect 21 Savage to make an appearance. Drake showed love to 21 for always having his back on 'Gimme a Hug,' and the Atlanta rapper reposted Drake's latest single. DJ Swamp Izzo also previewed an unreleased Playboi Carti and Drake collaboration during a tour after-party. According to DJ Akademiks, he relayed that Drake told him the track was supposed to appear on For All the Dogs, but never made the cut. We'll see if it remains shelved. As far as the production side, frequent collaborators OZ and Tay Keith were involved with 'What Did I Miss.' Conductor Williams has established a rapport with Drake and could supply some heat on the album. Of course, when it's a Drake project, you can assume his right-hand, Noah '40' Shebib, will play a significant role. Don't count out Boi-1da either. Drake's been known to make questionable choices for his album covers, but the blue Drake ice sculpture that's currently going viral on social media hasn't been verified by the 6 God himself. So don't fall for anything just yet when it comes to Iceman artwork. Drake's new song has a Bitcoin connection
Drake has included a Bitcoin (BTC) reference in his recently released song, 'What Did I Miss?' The popular hip-hop artist's new song directly incorporates Bitcoin, the widely recognised cryptocurrency, into a cultural conversation, 16 years after its creation. "What Did I Miss" premiered during a YouTube stream titled "ICEMAN EPISODE ONE," which features Drake playing a worker on his lunch break. The song explores themes of betrayal, following Drake's 2024 dispute with Kendrick Lamar. Drake likens the shifting loyalties he addresses in the track to the unpredictable nature of Bitcoin, giving the digital asset a prominent reference. The reference to Bitcoin and its volatility appears in the first verse of the song. Drake has previously engaged with Bitcoin, having bet $1 million in the cryptocurrency on the outcome of the 2022 Super Bowl. What Drake said about Bitcoin in his new song In the first verse, Drake directly compares Bitcoin's well-known price volatility to the unpredictable nature of his former friends — supportive one moment, distant the next — mirroring the dramatic ups and downs of Bitcoin's value. In the song, he says: by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like AI is helping small businesses increase productivity. Insider Learn More Undo 'You switched on the guys and supported a hater, let's go. What's the getback for ni**as? It's TBD. I look at this s**t like a BTC. Could be down this week, then I'm up next week.' Drake's connection with Bitcoin has mostly revolved around high-stakes gambling rather than investment. In 2024, he reportedly lost over $1 million in BTC through unsuccessful bets on the NBA and NHL Finals. He placed those bets using the crypto gambling platform Stake, with which he has an endorsement deal. His song 'What Did I Miss?' reflects on loyalty and shifting alliances following a major rap feud. Drake expresses disappointment over collaborators and friends who sided with rivals, using the track as a moment of reflection on fractured relationships and the emotional fallout from the events of that year.
