Cricketer Jasprit Bumrah once wanted to run away with his now wife Sanjana Ganesan but got a hilarious reply
Cricketer Jasprit Bumrah is known for rattling stumps with precision. But off the field, he almost made a move so audacious it caught even his wife off guard. In a recent episode trailer of Harbhajan Singh and Geeta Basra's YouTube chat show, Sanjana Ganesan revealed that Bumrah once suggested eloping—an idea she instantly shot down with a cheeky jab about his famously short run-up. Her amusing account of Bumrah's romantic proposal has quickly sparked interest among fans, especially since the couple had famously kept their relationship private before their 2021 wedding. The proposal that didn't get off the ground In the Who's The Boss? Episode 2 trailer, Sanjana shared a hilarious exchange she had with Bumrah before their marriage. She says he had floated the idea of running away to get married instead of organizing a formal wedding, saying 'Let's run, let's elope' in Hindi. Her witty response came immediately after: 'Tum run-up pe bhi nahi bhagte ho. Tum mere sath kya bhagoge?' (You don't even run during your run-up. So how will you run with me?). The 52 second trailer has since gone viral, letting fans in on a rather light-hearted chapter from the couple's otherwise low-profile romance. Before tying the knot, Bumrah and Ganesan had kept their relationship quiet. The two got married in a private ceremony in Goa in 2021, attended only by close friends and family. Most Indian teammates missed the wedding due to bio-bubble restrictions during a T20I series in Ahmedabad. Life after marriage and a growing family Since their wedding, both have juggled prolific careers: Bumrah as India's pace spearhead, and Ganesan as a sports broadcaster. They were blessed with their son, Angad, in September 2023. Currently, the couple is in England for professional duties. While Bumrah recently claimed a five-wicket haul in Leeds, Ganesan continues her broadcast work during the Test series. Despite his demanding schedule, Bumrah still manages to surprise—though perhaps not with runaway plans anymore.

Harbhajan Singh and Rohit Sharma call out Shikhar Dhawan's shagun prank: ‘It was totally empty'
At the launch of Who's The Boss?, a new YouTube talk show hosted by Harbhajan Singh and his wife Geeta Basra, the veteran off-spinner took a humorous dig at former teammate Shikhar Dhawan, sharing an anecdote from his 2015 wedding. Rohit Sharma soon pitched in, sharing how the cricketer had come to his and Sajdeh's wedding empty-handed. He states that Dhawan simply 'did a little dance and left.' Keep reading to find out what exactly they said. Dhawan's shagun prank leaves Harbhajan stunned According to Harbhajan Singh, Dhawan came to the celebration in Jalandhar, indulged in the food and festivities, and danced to his heart's content, stating, 'He danced loads, ate, drank, had an absolute blast.' Dhawan then slyly slipped a seemingly generous envelope into Harbhajan's pocket. 'When I opened it later,' Harbhajan said, 'not even 101 rupees, it didn't even have one rupee. It was totally empty!' This comes as a part of 'shagun,' an Indian wedding custom where guests gift money as a way to bless the couple. This is given in an envelope with cash and a symbolic one-rupee coin. Dhawan's envelope, however, was purely decorative. The tale left everyone laughing, especially after Harbhajan turned to Rohit Sharma and asked if he had received an empty envelope too. Rohit's response was equally blunt and comical: 'Kuch nahi. Naachke, khaake, aur peeke gaya tha,' which translates to 'Nothing. He danced, ate, drank, and just left.' Long-time teammates share their unforgettable memories While the story offered a laugh at Dhawan's expense, both Harbhajan and Rohit were quick to clarify that the good-natured ribbing came from a place of affection. Rohit, who married Ritika Sajdeh just weeks after Harbhajan, praised Dhawan as a 'class' individual and a dear friend. Rohit and Dhawan's friendship has always extended beyond just wedding halls, as Rohit recalled their childhood years playing together. He reminisced about how they had also toured with India A before even earning their national caps. As one of India's most successful opening pairs, the two cricketers have accumulated 5,148 runs in ODIs. They are the fourth-highest in history and the second-best for an Indian duo, according to New18. Though Dhawan retired in 2024, his antics—and absence of shagun—have left memories that Rohit and Harbhajan will laugh about for years.

'Ate And Left': Rohit, Harbhajan Reveal India Star Came To Their Weddings Empty-Handed
Last Updated: Harbhajan Singh and Rohit Sharma humorously recalled ex-India teammate attending their weddings, enjoying himself, but leaving empty-handed. Harbhajan Singh and Rohit Sharma have called out former teammate Shikhar Dhawan for coming empty-handed to their weddings and leaving after eating, drinking, and having an 'absolute blast'. Former spinner Harbhajan married his longtime girlfriend, actress Geeta Basra, on 29 October 2015 in Jalandhar. Rohit and Ritika Sajdeh got married on December 13 in the same year in Mumbai. Dhawan was Rohit's opening partner at that time, and the duo was considered one of the most feared in white-ball cricket, having found success in an overall disappointing 2015 World Cup. 'Shikhar Dhawan came to our wedding," Harbhajan recalled on his a YouTube show with Geeta called, Who's The Boss? 'He danced a lot, ate, drank, had an absolute blast. And while leaving, he slipped in an envelope in my pocket. Maine kaha, 'ye kya kar raha hai?'. Maine woh khola na, 101 chorh, ek rupiya nahi tha. Khaali. (I said there was no need. When I opened it, forget 101 rupees, it didn't even have one rupee. It was totally empty!) In Indian culture, shagun envelopes are given as a symbol of blessings. They are generally filled with cash, accompanied by a one-rupee coin. After narrating the story, Harbhajan asked Rohit and Ritika if Dhawan gave them anything. 'Kuch nahi. Naachke, khaake, aur peeke gaya tha (Nothing. He danced, ate, drank, and just left)," Rohit replied, prompting all four of them to break into laughter. But Rohit made sure to praise Dhawan, too, calling him a 'class' person. They scored 5,148 runs together in 115 innings, making them the fourth-highest opening partnership in terms of runs in ODI history 'Woh bhi kya banda hai, class! (What a guy he his, class) From childhood, we have been playing together, and we have done a lot of tours together. Before playing for India, we had done a tour to Australia for India A," Rohit said. Dhawan retired from all forms of competitive cricket in August last year. Rohit has also hung up his T20I and Test boots but continues to be available in ODI cricket, where he's also the team captain. He's said to be hoping to remain fit for the 2027 World Cup.
