Burger King debuts new sandwich, created by Whopper fanatics

Burger King has released a new menu item that was created by fans of the famous Whopper burger. As of Tuesday, July 15, customers can order the 'BBQ Brisket Whopper, a smoky, savory twist on the flame-grilled classic, inspired by what Whopper fanatics across the country have been asking for,' the fast-food chain announced. The Whopper features a slow-cooked BBQ brisket, onions, American cheese and a sweet and golden BBQ sauce on a quarter pound beef patty with lettuce, tomato and mayo. The burger is also on the menu as a Whopper Jr. for those who wish to have 'all the same mouthwatering ingredients' but are looking for a smaller size. 'As the brand known for 'Have It Your Way,' we want to continue letting our Guests tell us what they want – and when it comes to our iconic Whopper sandwich, they have a lot of ideas,' Joel Yashinsky, Chief Marketing Officer, Burger King US&C said in a statement. 'We're excited to kick off the 'Whopper by You' platform with the BBQ Brisket Whopper, a flavor profile that our Guests requested and we are very excited to answer with an overwhelming 'You Rule'!' The 'Whopper By You' platform allows customers to help shape the Burger King menu by submitting their dream Whopper creations. 'Whether it's a spicy twist, a crave able remix, a cheese-loaded mashup or anything in between, all creative culinary dreams are encouraged and welcome,' Burger King wrote. Burger King fans rejoice after fast food chain announces the return of beloved summer menu item

Burger King fans are excited to get their hands on its famous Frozen Cotton Candy Cloud beverages. The burger chain's fan-favorite drink is returning to participating locations nationwide on Monday, July 14, due to popular demand. The icy blue drink made its debut last year and instantly became 'the most popular frozen beverage' on the menu in years. Burger King's announcement on Instagram was flooded with comments from eager fans who are glad the drink is 'finally' coming back. 'OMG!!! Finally!!! Dreams do come true!!,' an Instagram user wrote, adding they hope it will cost $1.99. 'They need to make these permanent they're the best drink burger king ever had,' an Instagrammer wrote on a post created by Snackolator. With approximately 19,000 restaurants worldwide, the drink's return is one of many offers restaurant chains are competing against in the 2025 summer fast food war. Prices for small, medium and large sized Clouds start at $1.49, $1.79 and $2.29, with the option to added a cold foam cloud topping for an additional 70 to 80 cents. Frozen Cotton Candy Cloud beverages debuted at Burger King in April 2024 The cotton candy-flavored treat is not the only offering dropping at participating Burger King restaurants next week. The restaurant chain is also bringing back its classic iced coffee and debuting its all-new Mango Peach Lemonade. Fans can also enjoy Burger King's new BBQ Brisket Whopper, the offering to kick off its new 'Whopper by You' platform. The platform is designed for fans looking to dream up and submit ideas for Whopper creations. 'As the brand known for "Have It Your Way," we want to continue letting our Guests tell us what they want – and when it comes to our iconic Whopper sandwich, they have a lot of ideas,' said Joel Yashinsky, Chief Marketing Officer, Burger King US&C. The platform could potentially lure in fans who aren't afraid to get in touch and express their creative sides. Burger King also threw shots at McDonald's earlier this year after the chain announced it would extend operating hours at restaurants. It comes as the chain has been fighting to boost dwindling sales. Burger King has suffered financial difficulties since 2008 and mass closures Burger King's fall began in the 2000s, as franchisees started closing underperforming restaurants. Sales declined after the recession in 2008, and its profits have yet to return to its prime. Franchisee TOMS King filed for bankruptcy in January 2023 and received bids from companies wanting to purchase 82 of 90 restaurants. Meridian Restaurants Unlimited quietly closed and sold 70 Burger Kings after filing for bankruptcy protection two months after TOMS King. This year appears to be no different for Burger King, which suffered a 1.3 percent sales decline in this year's first quarter. Its financial difficulties also come while facing a lawsuit alleging its ads exaggerated the size of Whoppers. McDonald's, a prime competitor and the world's largest fast food chain, has also been struggling for many quarters, including a 3.6 percent sales dive in the first quarter of this year.

Burger King's Next Whopper Could Be Your Idea

Burger King is launching a BBQ Brisket Whopper and has a second customer-suggested take on the sandwich planned, the company said. The burger chain wants customers to suggest other iterations for its Whopper. Crowd-sourcing is having a moment in dining, with McDonald's and Arby's also changing their menus in response to consumer seem to have more cred with fast-food chains these days. Burger King will start serving customer-suggested remakes of the Whopper—beginning with a BBQ brisket version—on July 15, the company said Wednesday. The chain, owned by Restaurant Brands International (QSR), plans to keep the collaborations coming, launching a 'Whopper By You' platform through which customers can suggest new iterations of the sandwich that may make it on to the menu. Multiple diners urged Burger King to bring back a smoky BBQ flavor, which inspired the BBQ Brisket Whopper, spokeswoman Chelsea Buda said in an email. The next 'Whopper by You' sandwich is already lined up, she said, and additional suggestions will be welcome at "We want to continue letting our Guests tell us what they want,' Joel Yashinsky, chief marketing officer of Burger King U.S. and Canada, said in a statement. Fast-food chains have sought to bring back inflation-weary diners, largely by offering value meals and other price promotions. But dining operations are also in a crowd-sourcing phase: McDonald's (MCD), for example, credited consumer demand for the return of the Snack Wrap, a chicken strip wrapped in a tortilla with lettuce and cheese. 'Fans never gave up on the Snack Wrap, inspiring the ultimate comeback,' the company said last month. In the pizza world, Papa John's (PZZA) executives acknowledged a drumbeat of demand for a stuffed-crust pie when it launched them in March. And Arby's in February said that it would permanently bring back Potato Cakes, citing its customers' "excitement" and "disappointment" at their past comings and goings and inviting fans to sign on to a "pre-class action lawsuit"—under which Arby's agrees to distribute $1 million in food to signees—if it discontinues the hashbrown-esque wedges before the end of 2026. 'We listened to their pleas on social media, and we aren't going to let Arby's get away with removing Potato Cakes from the menu again,' Jeff Baker, chief marketing officer at Arby's, said in a statement.
