When money's no object, this is the architect to design your next home
When architect William Smart got a phone call from Judith Neilson to design her a new house, he knew it had the potential to dramatically alter the course of his career. He had already worked for the billionaire philanthropist once, overseeing the transformation of a World War II-era Rolls-Royce service depot in the inner-Sydney suburb of Chippendale into White Rabbit Gallery. But to Neilson's mind that was 'just a building'. She wanted a legacy. Her brief for the house was remarkably succinct; just one page long. She wanted brick floors, a waxed finish on the plasterwork for the walls and the whole building had to be manually operated rather than relying on home technology. It needed to last a century and it should also be the best house in Sydney. 'Then I thought that's pretty limited so I said the best house in Australia,' says Neilson. 'Then I thought, no, it should be the best house in the world.'

Father's Day 2025 Date: International Father's Day, observed on the third Sunday of June each year since 1966, honours the men who helped shape our lives, i.e., our dads. Father's Day, celebrated as a tribute to fathers worldwide, holds special meaning for many children in and around India, as they tend to be the foundation of a family; from advice to protection and fun, children often discover their greatest friends in their fathers. However, this day honours not just biological dads but also father figures who are as significant in everyone's life, as they play different roles in our lives. Interestingly, the idea of Father's Day began almost a century ago in the United States in honour of William Smart, with his daughter, Sonora Smart Dodd, seeking to designate his birthday, June 5, as Father's Day after being inspired by Anna Jarvis's introduction of Mother's Day. However, because her initial requests to the church and her pastor were refused, the date was changed to the third Sunday in June. considerable thought and local church support, Dodd was able to establish Father's Day in 1910 in honour of her Civil War veteran father, who raised six children on his own. The observance became so popular in just six years that US President Woodrow Wilson declared it official in 1916 when visiting Dodd's hometown of Spokane, Washington. Father's Day is a public holiday in several countries, including Spain and Lithuania. Handmade presents and cards, as well as other unique activities held on this day, reflect children's affection for their fathers.
