'Dance Moms' Abby Lee Miller Slams L.A. Hospital For Leaving Object In Her After 2020 Surgery
Abby Lee Miller has sued a prominent Los Angeles-area hospital for malpractice, accusing them of failing to honor a proper duty of care. The former "Dance Moms" star filed a legal complaint against Cedars-Sinai Marina Hospital and two of the facility's doctors for leaving a foreign object inside her body during a 2020 operation. According to Abby Lee Miller, she felt that following the surgery, the hospital and its medical practitioners did not listen to her concerns. Her issues with the famous facility come years after battling a long list of health problems. In her legal complaint against Cedars-Sinai Marina Hospital, Miller revealed she underwent a spine surgery five years ago. She noted two doctors were in charge of the operation, and everything seemed fine until she noticed concerning symptoms. Miller claimed she experienced abdominal pain and discomfort, but her complaints were allegedly brushed off by multiple doctors, including the two responsible for her surgery. She continued to endure the intense symptoms until one of her medical reps decided to perform a CT scan. The scan, per Miller, revealed a "retained catheter" had been left inside her body after the spine operation. On that note, she sued the hospital and the two doctors involved for medical negligence, professional negligence, medical battery, and more. She also asked for at least $1.4 million in damages, per TMZ. A spokesperson for Cedars-Sinai Marina Hospital addressed the lawsuit in a statement to the outlet, claiming the medical facility could not comment on pending legal matters or share details about a patient's medical treatment. Although the facility could not address Miller's lawsuit, the representative claimed that the hospital has always prioritized its patients' wellbeing and never dabbled in malpractice. "We are dedicated to ensuring that we meet the highest standards of care for all those we serve," the spokesperson said. The legal drama between the hospital and Miller follows various medical issues. Woman's Day covered the media personality's health struggles, reporting that she underwent a gastric bypass surgery in 2017 to increase the results of her weight loss journey. Miller became focused on shedding the extra pounds in 2015 after a diabetes diagnosis. A month after the gastric bypass surgery, Miller was found guilty of bankruptcy fraud and was sentenced to one year in prison. However, her failing health allowed her to be released eight months later, and she regained her freedom with a new body. Miller reportedly lost 100 pounds during her time in prison, and she declared that she was no longer diabetic after prison doctors discontinued her diabetes medication. In April 2018, she was rushed to the hospital for an unknown thyroid condition that later left her paralyzed from the neck down. Doctors initially performed an emergency surgery, believing she had a spinal infection, but she was eventually diagnosed with Burkitt Lymphoma. The rare but aggressive type of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma needed 10 rounds of chemotherapy and months of rehabilitation before Miller was declared cancer-free in 2019. However, she needed to use an electric wheelchair to move. Although her health problems were significant, Miller was more disheartened by her time behind bars for bankruptcy fraud. In 2022, The Blast covered her reaction to those who abandoned her in her time of need. The media personality slammed her former co-stars from "Dance Moms," claiming the parents of the children she coached did not support her throughout her incarceration. She condemned their actions as ingratitude, saying: "Shame on you after what I did for you, for your children…helped make you a lot of money. You couldn't come to visit me for eight and a half months?" According to Miller, she received tons of letters from children in other countries, yet not a single message came from the families she helped rise to fame. She slammed them for using her as a stepping stone, claiming they wouldn't have made it without her. Miller's medical negligence lawsuit against Cedars-Sinai Marina Hospital isn't the first time she has sued a Los Angeles-area facility for improper care. In 2022, she filed a legal complaint against a hotel in L.A. called Hampton Inn and Suites and requested that they pay over $20 million in damages. The choreographer claimed she suffered emotional and physical injuries during her stay at the hotel in March 2020. She noted her room's sliding bathroom door crashed on her head while attempting to free her wheelchair, which got caught under it. Miller alleged the "300+ pound door" pinned her down for six to twelve minutes before the hotel's staff heard her cries for help. She was rushed to the hospital for treatment and blamed the hotel for delaying her healing from a previous cancer surgery. Will Abby Lee Miller emerge victorious in her lawsuit against Cedars-Sinai Marina Hospital?

This marks the second health update from Patti in 2025, following her battle with Covid earlier in the year. In January, she was forced to temporarily step back from her role in Grease: The Musical during its Sydney run due to illness. "So sorry to be missing the previews for Grease," she shared on Instagram at the time. "Unfortunately Covid has hit me again. Looking forward to being back next week." The update came with a photo of Patti dressed in costume as Miss Lynch, the role she has played in both the Melbourne and Sydney seasons of the production. Patti has thrown herself back into performing in recent years following the 2021 death of her beloved husband, legendary Australian entertainer Bert Newton. The couple were married for 47 years before Bert died at the age of 83. Shortly after his passing, Patti returned to the stage in a national tour of Mary Poppins, later joining Grease as a tribute to the couple's lifelong connection to show business. Her grandson Monty, nine, appears to be following in her footsteps, recently starring in the film Magic Beach, adapted from Alison Lester's beloved children's book. Speaking to Woman's Day in October, Patti said Bert would have been thrilled to see Monty on screen. "Bert would be extremely proud of him. I feel a bit sad that he's not here to see Monty," she said. "Bert always felt that he had something special about him. He'll always have a little part of Poppy with him." Monty and Alby are two of six children shared by Patti's daughter Lauren Newton, 46, and former Olympic swimmer Matt Welsh, 48. The family live close to Patti in Melbourne's eastern suburbs. Meanwhile, Patti's son Matthew Newton, 48, resides in Austin, Texas, with his wife Catherine Schneiderman. It's understood that the couple do not have any children.

Jelena Dokic cuddles up to mystery man at Melbourne Airport after revealing she feared 'being alone forever' following the breakdown of her 19-year relationship
Former Australian tennis champ Jelena Dokic has been spotted with a mystery man. While no romantic link has been confirmed between the pair, the elegant gent she met at Melbourne airport earlier this month certainly managed to put a smile on Jelena's face as the pair cuddled up together. The 42-year-old sports commentator was seen exiting her flight and grinning broadly as she accepted a warm embrace from the bearded man as she entered the terminal. Jelena, who took up an animated conversation with her companion as she stepped into the terminal, had dressed for comfort for her flight. She wore a knitted white zip-up hoodie she matched with a grey T-shirt, blue pants split at the cuffs and runners. Tying her fair hair up, the tennis legend carried her mobile device in one hand as she walked to her transport and completed her look with a pair of ear studs. Wearing a formal dark suit, business shirt and matching striped tie, and black shoes, Jelena's companion was later seen carrying the athlete's luggage from the airport. He completed his dashing look with wire-rimmed spectacles and appeared to be using a product in his slicked-back black hair which he parted at the side. According to Woman's Day, who shared video of the pair on Tuesday, the man drove Jelena from the airport. Late last year, Jelena revealed that she has been 'closed off' to finding love ever since she split from her long-time Brazilian boyfriend Tin Bikic. The couple were together for almost 19 years before announcing they had ended their relationship in 2021. Despite saying that her walls have been up ever since, Jelena took to Instagram to make the heartbreaking admission that she's 'scared of being alone' for the rest of her life. 'Love. It's been a challenging personal period. We don't talk about this enough but relationship breakdowns are so tough,' she said alongside a selfie. 'And if you have been the one left hurt or abandoned then let's be honest, it's just life shattering. And as you get older, it only gets tougher with more scars, pain and hurt. 'My 19-year relationship ended 4 years ago [sic] and while we will always care for each other especially because we were together since we were 20, that chapter is over.' Jelena went on to say that she was 'built' to love one person 'unconditionally and so fully that it gets me in trouble'. 'It turns into heartbreak and pain,' she bemoaned. 'I put up walls 4 years ago and I said they are never coming down. 'But as life likes to show us, not everything we plan or think will happen actually does. So, of course, someone brought those walls down and I got hurt. Badly. 'So, I guess the question is: Do we keep our walls down and hope love comes along? Or? Do we never give it a chance again and don't allow the walls to come down? 'There are people that will have different answers. I have now been alone and closed off for 4 years and I still don't know what the answer is.' The Australian tennis commentator said she now has 'a lot of abandonment issues' from her past, which make her 'feel like I will be alone forever'. Jelena was referring to the horrendous abuse she suffered at the hands of her father and tennis coach Damir Dokic. 'Am I the only one scared of being alone for the rest of my life?' the media personality candidly asked her fans. 'Bringing walls down has also brought some feelings and triggers I never had before and I don't know how to react or what to do,' Jelena continued in the lengthy missive. 'Bottom line is it's tough and what do we do? Close ourselves off forever or get hurt and feel pain in order to one day maybe feel that unbelievable and crazy love again?'' Thankfully, Jelena ended her morose caption on a hopeful note, saying that she will 'not give up' on her search for love. 'I will never give up and one day those walls will come down again and hopefully the wait, pain, hurt and disappointment will be worth it and I will find that amazing love,' she said. Jelena was left 'shattered' in the aftermath of her split from her long-time boyfriend Tin Bikic in 2021, revealing last year just how heartbroken she was. She took to Instagram in August last year to mark the anniversary of their break up with some reflective words. 'Break ups of any kind are tough. They are heartbreaking, crushing, shattering and can change you forever,' she wrote. Wearing a formal dark suit, business shirt and matching striped tie, and black shoes, Jelena's companion was later seen carrying the athlete's luggage from the airport 'It's important not to become angry and bitter and instead know those scars and wounds will heal one day and you will become a wiser, better and stronger person. 'My breakup left me crushed and changed me to my core. While I was shattered and it changed me forever, I handled it with kindness, understanding, grace and dignity. 'No screaming, anger or bitterness. And for that I am so proud of myself. Stay kind and positive.' Jelena confirmed the news she and her Brazilian-born boyfriend had parted in a heartbreaking Instagram post back in January 2022. Alongside a photo of the pair together with a rip graphic down the middle, she wrote: 'After almost 19 years together, Tin and I have decided to go our separate ways. 'Sometimes these things happen, people grow apart and it's for the best.' At the time, Jelena admitted she was struggling emotionally and mentally with the split. 'Love. It's been a challenging personal period. We don't talk about this enough but relationship breakdowns are so tough,' she said 'I would be lying if I said I was doing well but I will give it my absolute all to heal and recover and process this pain and trauma,' she wrote. She then thanked her fans, friends and loved ones for their support and said she hopes to soon 'be back hopefully stronger than ever and in a much better place'. The former world No. 4 was born in what was once Yugoslavia and her family moved to Australia when she was 11 years old. Her tennis career peaked when she made the Wimbledon quarter finals in 1999 and semi finals in 2000, followed by the 2002 French Open quarter finals.

Forgotten Australian Idol winner's son, 17, is following in his musician footsteps
It appears the apple doesn't fall far from the tree when it comes to Damien Leith's musically talented family. The 49-year-old singer rose to fame back in 2006 when he took out the honours in Channel Ten singing juggernaut Australian Idol. Although his stardom has somewhat faded in recent years, his son Jagger is certainly following in his footsteps to the stage. The 17-year-old, who possesses quite a marketable face and chiselled form, has already released a string of singles, with his latest track titled I Miss You dropping back in January. He's now joining his dad on the road for a string of shows as part of Damien's Ireland Orchestrated tour. 'He wasn't even born when I was on Idol, so it's a pretty amazing thing to be on stage with him,' Damien told Woman's Day magazine. Damien added that while Jagger's pop sensibilities might differ markedly from his love of traditional folk and rock, he is always a font of advice for his son. 'Jagger will come to me all the time when he might be stuck on a lyric, or he might want ideas for a chorus and I always help him,' Damien added. 'He'll take my ideas on board but he's a pretty independent guy. Even though I'm his dad, if he doesn't like my ideas, he'll tell me.' And Jagger's not the only one taking after their talented father. Damien, who also shares son Jarvis, 19, and daughter Kikki, 14 with wife Eileen Stapleton, said all three children are quite musical. The Idol winner added he hoped that his experiences in the music industry will help hold his children in good stead in their musical pursuits. 'I'm so proud of all three of my kids, they're obsessed with singing and acting,' he said. 'I tell them it's an amazing industry, but you need a tough skin and you've got to be prepared.' Speaking about his musical brood to the Illawarra Mercury in 2023, Damien said his was the loudest house in the street. 'It is so noisy that any particular time there could be someone singing a song from a musical, while someone else is pounding on the piano while somebody else is playing electric guitar downstairs,' he said. 'I hear the things that they're [my children are] talking about and things that they're planning and it reminds me of when I was about 17 and I'm going "wow, I can't believe that they're so taken by it all"." Damien sprung to national attention when he was crowned winner of the 2006 iteration of Australian Idol. He was in good company too, beating the likes of runner-up Jessica Mauboy, Lisa Mitchell, Bobby Flynn and Dean Geyer for the title. Damien parlayed his idol success into a career that has seen him release nine studio albums, including two number ones. Damien also picked up an ARIA for his post-Idol album The Winner's Journey as well as a Golden Guitar in 2017 for his track Call me Cray. When he is not on stage, Damien has also worked as a radio announcer in the Hunter Valley and Wollongong. The multi-talent is also quite the accomplished author, having penned three tomes - One More Time (2007), Remember June (2007), and The Extraordinary Misadventures of Lake and Birdy (2025)
