Improve Your Thyroid Function Naturally With Tips Readers Swear By

If you've been feeling more tired than usual—even after a good night's sleep—or can't seem to shed stubborn belly fat, your thyroid may be to blame. This small, butterfly-shaped gland located at the front of your neck plays a big role in energy, metabolism and mood. The good news? Keeping your thyroid healthy and your thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) levels in the normal range (0.5 to 5.0 mIU/L) doesn't have to be exhausting. We asked Woman's World readers to share how they improve their thyroid function naturally. While no single thing will 'fix' an underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism) or overactive thyroid gland (hyperthyroidism), small, consistent changes in diet and lifestyle can make a big difference in how you feel. Personalized care is key, explains Ailis Marrero, MD, double-board certified family and obesity medicine physician at Paloma Health, a women's health clinic. 'What works for one person may not be ideal for another, so working with a provider to tailor your plan can be incredibly helpful.' The first step to improving your thyroid function is learning how to spot the early symptoms of thyroid problems. Your doctor can then check your thyroid hormone levels with a blood test and recommend appropriate hormone therapy to help manage your condition. What else can help? These natural remedies that Woman's World readers use to keep their own thyroids healthy. Consuming too much processed or refined sugar can lead to more health problems than any other food, says Austin Shuxiao, MD, a board-certified internal medicine physician and founder of PeachIV. He explains that refined sugar causes spikes in blood glucose and insulin, which trigger inflammation and may contribute to autoimmune conditions like Hashimoto's thyroiditis. That's why cutting back on sugar doesn't just support thyroid health—it can also aid weight loss and help manage type 2 diabetes. 'Keeping blood sugar stable also promotes more consistent energy levels, something many people with hypothyroidism struggle with,' adds Dr. Marrero. This is the thyroid nourishing tip that most Woman's World readers practice regularly. Around 34 percent of you said so! Many of you (more than 29 percent!) also shared that taking different B vitamins helps prevent thyroid issues. 'B vitamins are crucial for energy, metabolism and nerve health, all of which are affected in thyroid dysfunction,' says Michelle Sands, ND, founder and CEO of GLOW Natural Wellness. She recommends focusing on these three specifically: B12: Many women with hypothyroidism are deficient in vitamin B12. However, Dr. Sands says it's essential for energy, so replenishing your levels can help combat fatigue and brain fog. The RDA is 2.4 micrograms. B2 (riboflavin): This B vitamin helps support thyroid hormone production. Aim for 1.3-1.5 mg per day. B6: Lastly, Dr. Sands says B6 supports thyroid hormones and can reduce inflammation. Experts say 1.1 mg per day is ideal for women. The gut-thyroid connection is real. 'About 70 percent of the immune system resides in the gut, and imbalances in the gut microbiome (called dysbiosis) may contribute to autoimmune activity, including Hashimoto's thyroiditis,' says Dr. Marrero. Probiotics can help maintain a healthy gut lining and microbial balance, which is why more than 21 percent of Woman's World readers said they take probiotics regularly. This can 'reduce inflammation and enhance nutrient absorption—especially of key minerals like selenium, zinc and iron, which are essential for optimal thyroid function,' she adds. You can take probiotic supplements (Dr. Sands recommends looking for a high-quality, multi-strain version) or find these live microorganisms in fermented foods such as yogurt, kefir, kombucha or apple cider vinegar. While a gluten-free diet is necessary for those with Celiac disease, many turn to it for other health benefits, including potentially losing weight and managing thyroid disorders. Gluten tends to trigger immune responses in lymphoid tissue in the gut, which can, in turn, trigger an immune response in the thyroid, explains Dr. Shuxiao. Ultimately, lowering your gluten intake will reduce inflammation in the body and the chance of autoimmune thyroiditis. That said, this is not a one-size-fits-all recommendation and works best when it's guided by symptoms and labs and supervised by a provider. It's important to know that if you're experiencing symptoms like weight gain, fatigue and thinning hair, your thyroid isn't broken—it's responding to dysfunction elsewhere in the body, explains Dr. Sands. It often rebounds well when you remove certain triggers, replenish deficiencies and nourish the system holistically. Dr. Sands recommends a personalized approach that combines nutrition, lifestyle and targeted supplementation changes in addition to any medication your doctor may prescribe. She cautions patients from believing thyroid issues are just a part of getting older. Instead, listen to your body and pay attention to significant shifts in your health. Katy Perry jokes about being 'most hated person on the internet'

Katy Perry has made light of the negativity surrounding her public image at a concert on her Lifetimes tour. While on stage in Chicago, the pop star joked about her public image with the crowd. In a clip taken by a concertgoer, Perry reacted to the audience's thunderous applause by quipping, "Well, I thought I was the most hated person on the internet." As the fans continue to clap and cheer, the Firework singer added, "I think that's false!" The show came a few weeks after Perry kicked off her Lifetimes trek in late April. Earlier that month, she was part of Blue Origin's first all-woman space flight - a highly criticised venture that has led to the musician experiencing an influx of negative comments on social media. Before that, the former American Idol judge drew criticism for working with Dr. Luke on her single Woman's World, despite allegations of sexual assault leveraged against him by Kesha. But she's put on a brave face for fans. "Please know I am OK, I have done a lot of work around knowing who I am, what is real and what is important to me," she commented on Instagram in April. "My therapist said something years ago that has been a game changer: 'No one can make you believe something about yourself that you don't already believe about yourself.'"

Katy Perry confesses that she thought she was ‘the most hated person' on the internet

Katy Perry has revealed that she does pay attention to the fierce criticism she's faced on social media in recent months. Perry has become somewhat of a laughing stock online since the release of her latest album, 143, failed spectacularly on the charts alongside the critically derided lead single Woman's World. The backlash then intensified due to her bizarre antics surrounding her trip to space that culminated in the infamous picture of her kissing the ground after less than a handful of minutes in the air. During the latest show of her Lifetimes Tour in Chicago, Perry seemingly addressed the all the controversy that she appears to be a magnet for in recent months. 'I thought I was the most hated person on the internet … but I think that's false,' she said, referencing the crowd's rapturous applause. It's not the first time Perry had publicly discussed the hate she has received from trolls on social media. Describing herself as a 'human piñata' and the internet as 'a dumping ground for unhinged and unhealed' people, Perry recently posted a message on Instagram in response to fans who had booked a celebratory billboard for her. 'Please know I am OK, I have done a lot [of] work around knowing who I am, what is real and what is important to me,' she wrote. 'My therapist said something years ago that has been a gamechanger, 'no one can make you believe something about yourself that you don't already believe about yourself' and if I ever do have any feelings about it then it's an opportunity to investigate the feeling underneath it. When the 'online' world tries to make me a human piñata, I take it with grace and send them love, cause I know so many people are hurting in so many ways and the internet is very much so a dumping ground for unhinged and unhealed.' While other legs of Perry's tour have been plagued by reports of poor ticket sales (something that's certainly not affecting her alone – even Beyonce is struggling to sell out her Cowboy Carter stadium tour), Perry's Aussie visit has been a popular seller, with 15 near-sold-out dates across five Australian cities.

Katy Perry Reacts To Viral Lifetimes Tour TikToks

Alas, it seems one person keeping up with TikToks about Katy Perry is Katy herself. It hasn't been the smoothest time in recent memory for the singer. Last year, her female empowerment single "Woman's World" was criticized for its use of producer Dr. Luke, who has been accused of sexual assault by Kesha (he has denied the claims). Her ensuing album, 143, was both a commercial and critical flop. The 40-year-old caught further heat for her participation in the all-female Blue Origin space flight, funded by Jeff Bezos. Since then, she's been on her "Lifetimes" tour, clips of which have inevitably made their way to social media. Amid all of this, some TikTok videos went viral that made fun of the way Katy over-enunciates words in the second chorus of her 2008 song "Thinking Of You." When a crowd in Texas began singing the song earlier this week at her tour, Katy took a surprise detour from the setlist began to sing the second verse with a guitar. As you can see in videos from the event, Katy then cut herself off and said, "I don't sing like that." Confusingly, her voice does sound pretty much exactly like the recorded version of the song. In further response to comments that her dancing is low-energy, Katy also took a break in her song "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)" to say, "Show them this when they say I can't dance!" Again, as in fan-captured videos, she then did a number of energetic jumping jacks before flashing her underwear to the audience. For what it's worth, Rolling Stone has remarked that some moments of the tour hit differently in person, writing, "Online, some detractors poked fun at Perry after clips circulated of her battling creatures with a lightsaber-like wand during 'E.T.,' calling the moment cringey and awkward. But in person, the fighting scenes unfold naturally as part of a choreography designed to fit the rhythm of the music and advance her video game storyline. The slightly exaggerated movements are intentional." Katy further addressed online criticism last month, writing on Instagram, "When the 'online' world tries to make me a human Piñata, I take it with grace and send them love, cause I know so many people are hurting in so many ways and the internet is very much so a dumping ground for unhinged and unhealed." Aaaand now I have "Thinking Of You" stuck in my head...

Donny Osmond celebrates 47th proposal anniversary with a sweet picture of wife Debbie

Donny Osmond and his wife Debbie Osmond are celebrating a special relationship milestone. After meeting each other more than five decades ago, while still in high school, the couple is now celebrating the 47th anniversary of when Donny Osmond proposed to Debbie Osmond. In a 2016 Facebook post, Donny Osmond revealed that he first met Debbie Osmond when 'she was 15 years old.' The legendary performer continued, saying Debbie Osmond 'was the hot babe cheerleader in town and she dated my brother Jay before she dated me.' Donny Osmond said it took him 'three whole years to win her heart and convince her to marry me.' As Debbie Osmond played 'hard to get,' Donny Osmond attempted to win her over shortly before her 17th birthday in 1976. 'I wanted to plan something really, really special for our first kiss,' so he mapped out a scavenger hunt that led her to Utah Lake, he explained in an interview with Woman's World. After returning to the limo where Donny Osmond was, the only way Debbie Osmond could receive the final clue was if she gave him a kiss. 'And it was fireworks, let me tell you!' Two years later, in 1978, Donny and Debbie Osmond exchanged their vows. Now, they share five kids and 14 grandchildren. On Thursday, May 8, Donny Osmond took to Instagram to share a photo of himself and Debbie Osmond in 1982 in honor of their 47th proposal anniversary. 'Thank you, Debbie, for saying yes to my proposal 47 years ago and for sharing this incredible and crazy adventure through show business with me,' he wrote in the caption. 'You've been more than I could have ever hoped for—my partner, my anchor, my inspiration, and my dear wife,' Donny Osmond concluded. 'Happy 47 years!! You both have been blessed with the best partner to go thru life with,' one commenter wrote. 'Wow, it's an amazing picture! You both looked fabulous back when and fabulous together today happy anniversary!' another added. Over Easter, Donny Osmond shared a photo of himself, his wife, and their ever growing family all together. In another post in February, shared on Debbie Osmond's birthday, he referred to her as his 'teenage crush,' the 'best decision he ever made,' and his 'eternal love.'
