Telangana CM Revanth launches scheme to provide solar pumpsets to all tribal farmers
Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy launched the 'Indira Saura Giri Jala Vikasam' scheme at Macharam in Amrabad Mandal in Nagarkurnool district on Monday (May 19, 2025) and asked the officials to provide solar pump sets to all eligible farmers within a month.
The Chief Minister, accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, said this was a unique scheme aimed at empowering the tribal farmers. He urged Mr. Vikramarka to appoint a special officer to oversee the smooth functioning of the scheme.
Mr. Reddy said the pilot project was being launched in 45 acres in Macharam for the benefit of 45 tribals whose lands were allegedly snatched away during the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) regime, and cases were filed for protesting. He suggested to the officials to involve the Women's Self Help Groups in setting up solar power plants for them so that they too could get revenue from it.
Under the Forest Rights Act, the government has sanctioned pattas for 6.69 lakh acres, benefiting about 2.3 lakh farmers of Scheduled Tribes in the State. The new scheme aims to provide irrigation facilities using solar-powered borewells across six lakh acres of tribal land that don't have power connections.
Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka said Congress has to be in power for the next 20 years if the slogans like 'Jal, Jungle, Zameen, Bhoomi Kosam, Bhukti Kosam Poratam' (struggles for water, forest, land, and livelihood) have to be truly realized. He said the new scheme was born from the heart of 'dynamic Chief Minister' whom he described as a 'diamond.'
Nallamala Declaration
He spoke emotionally about generations of tribals who struggled and shed blood in the forests without reaping any benefits. He said the Nallamala Declaration, released by the Chief Minister Revanth Reddy on Monday, would now benefit all tribal areas in the State. Later, the Chief Minister went to his native village Kondareddypalle where he performed special poojas at the Anjaneya Swamy temple.
