Indiana Fever's Sophie Cunningham on joining Women of Wrestling: She would 'not not be interested'

INDIANAPOLIS — It's been a massive few weeks for Sophie Cunningham, whose meteoric rise has included new sponsorship deals with Arby's and Ring, and an invite to join Women of Wrestling from Los Angeles Lakers owner Jeannie Buss. Now the Indiana Fever guard is trying her hand at something new: Podcasting. Cunningham is teaming up with longtime friend and reality TV star West Wilson of Bravo's Summer House on a new podcast called Show Me Something, the first episode of which dropped Wednesday. "It's unfiltered and that's something everyone wants to hear about," Cunningham said ahead of Wednesday's game vs. the Phoenix Mercury. "Nowadays you have to be so filtered and so careful about how you say things. People want real. People want positive things to cling onto," she continued. "It's going to talk about anything and everything. It's going to be somewhere for people to go and have a good laugh and relax. It's nothing serious and I think that fits my vibe." Re-live Caitlin Clark's rookie season with this book from IndyStar Cunningham said the show was in the works for "quite some time," it was just a matter of figuring out which company she was going to partner with and who would be her cohost. With respect to the former, Front Office Sports reported Wednesday that the show will be part of Colin Cowherd's The Volume digital media company. The show will cover a range of topics, Cunningham said, like "the W — the real W," pop culture and travel, but she wants to keep it sports-related. "That's where I'm at my best and I think I have a pretty good IQ. I know sports pretty well, so why not talk about it unfiltered?" she added. "And then bringing in West Wilson; we grew up together and he's a star on Summer House. The combo has been a hit so far. It's going to be fun." With regards to the WOW, Cunningham said she hasn't personally talked to anyone with the organization yet, but said (with a smile) she would "not not be interested" in potentially getting involved during the offseason. Cunningham watched wrestling "religiously" growing up, listing off Goldberg, Kane, the late Hulk Hogan and Stone Cold Steve Austin as the grapplers she followed. She didn't have a favorite, but she was "scared (to death)" of Kane. "The older I got, I didn't realize how staged it was. I thought it was real when I was little like everyone does," she laughed. "But I think it's fun. Who knows (what the future holds)."
