Preserve tribal traditions while driving development: Tirupati Collector
Tirupati: Tirupati district Collector Dr S Venkateswar stressed that education is the only means to reach the highest peaks in society. He was speaking at the World Adivasi Day celebrations held at the local Tribal Welfare Building on Saturday. Addressing the gathering, the Collector noted that tribals across the world hold a distinct identity, with unique customs, traditions, and practices that must be preserved and promoted. He pointed out that the tribal diet is highly nutritious, and many doctors today recommend the consumption of naturally grown millets, traditionally eaten by tribals, to combat lifestyle diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, and other chronic ailments. Dr Venkateswar announced that Rs 20 lakh will be sanctioned for repairs to the Tribal Welfare Building, and efforts would be made to secure an additional Rs 10 lakh through discussions with the TUDA Chairman and the Corporation. He also mentioned that while ROFR (Recognition of Forest Rights) pattas have been distributed in some mandals, the process is pending in others and will be expedited within the next three to four months. Special measures will be taken to organise a dedicated job fair for Scheduled Tribes, he said. Basic amenities will be provided in tribal areas, and housing will be sanctioned under government schemes. The district is home to approximately 1.7 lakh tribals, including 1.42 lakh Yanadis, 11,000 Sugalis, 11,000 Erukala, and 6,000 Nakkala communities. Andhra Pradesh Handicrafts Development Corporation Chairman Dr Pasupuleti Hariprasad stated that the government's primary goal is to bring tribals into the path of development. He assured that steps are being taken to ensure fair pricing for the products crafted by tribal communities. TUDA Chairman G Narasimha Yadav, Tribal Welfare Department Officer Raja Somu and several tribal leaders attended the programme.

Rs 75 cr infrastructure boost for SC/ST colonies in Chittoor
Chittoor: Chittoor district Collector Sumit Kumar has called on tribal families to ensure that all children receive proper education. He participated as the chief guest in the World Adivasi Day celebrations on Saturday. Speaking after paying floral tributes to freedom fighter Alluri Sitarama Raju, the Collector said that tribal communities still face multiple challenges, including poor road and electricity access, low literacy rates, and lack of digital facilities. He said the district has about 60,000 tribals in nearly 600 habitations, and Rs 75 crore is being spent on improving infrastructure in SC/ST colonies. For the first time in Chittoor, under the Recognition of Forest Rights Act (ROFR) Act 2006, 50 beneficiaries in Thumbapalyam village, Bangarupalem mandal, were granted fishing rights in forest ponds, benefiting tribal fisher families. He urged tribals to directly approach his office with grievances and make full use of educational and hostel facilities. In Somala mandal's Mucchu Kalva, 22 Yanadi families received land title passbooks for 20 acres. Joint Collector G Vidyadhari urged tribals to utilise all state and central schemes and apply for housing titles through village secretariats. Padel praised the historic role of tribals in Alluri's fight against the British and encouraged sending children to school. Mayor S Amuda highlighted Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu's welfare and infrastructure projects in tribal areas. During the event, the SC Corporation provided Rs 2,20,292 to three beneficiaries for farm borewell electrification. The Tribal Welfare Department also distributed land ownership documents for 19.99 acres to 22 beneficiaries under the ROFR Act. Cultural performances by girls from the tribal gurukul school enthralled the audience. District officials including tribal welfare and empowerment officer S Murthy, tribal leaders, teachers, and students attended the celebrations.

Adivasi Day celebrated on grand scale
Parvatipuram: World Adivasi Day was celebrated on a grand scale in Parvatipuram Manyam district on Saturday. The district has two ITDAs at Parvatipuram and Seethampeta and under their jurisdiction the day was celebrated separately. The programme was organised depicting the tribal culture and heritage. Several stalls were arranged to showcase the developmental activities in the tribal areas. Earlier the public representatives and officials participated in rallies organised on the occasion and garlanded Adivasi Thalli. The tribal leaders - Alluri Seetharama Raju, Gam Gantam Dora, Mallu Dora, Birsa Munda etc were paid tributes. Flag was hoisted on the occasion. School children had performed cultural programmes which attracted the audience. The public representatives and officials spoke on the occasion. They said that the culture and heritage of the tribals was very rich and they should be preserved. Government has been implementing several schemes with an intention to develop the tribal areas, they said. They urged the tribals to stay away from liquor, drugs and also not to involve in any form of irregularity. Commendation certificates were issued to the Tenth, Intermediate children and best served employees. Laptops were distributed to the disabled persons. The tribal leaders, officials and non-officials attended the programmes.

Mahua flower-based nutrient-rich traditional snacks launched on the occasion of World Adivasi Day
Launch of Mahua (Ippa) flower-based laddus, chocolates and other nutrient-rich traditional snacks made by Adivasi women self-help groups of Charla mandal marked the celebration of the International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples (World Adivasi Day) in Bhadrachalam town of Bhadradri Kothagudem district on Saturday. A coffee table book on the renovated tribal museum at the Integrated Tribal Development Agency headquarters in Bhadrachalam was released at the main function held in the temple town. Bhadrachalam MLA Tellam Venkat Rao, Bhadradri Kothagudem Collector Jitesh V. Patil, ITDA, Bhadrachalam, and Project Officer B. Rahul, addressed the gathering. The members of Bhadradri Seetharama tribal women SHGs were felicitated for excelling in production of millet-based biscuits and bringing national recognition to Bhadrachalam Agency. Earlier in the day, a rally was taken out in Bhadrachalam to mark the mega annual event. The participants garlanded the statues of legendary Adivasi leaders at Ambedkar Centre.

Overall development of tribal people important for A.P.'s growth: NTR Collector
Overall development of tribal people is important for the development of the State and for the realisation of a prosperous, healthy and happy Andhra Pradesh, said NTR District Collector G. Lakshmisha. Speaking at the World Adivasi Day celebrations, organised by the District Tribal Welfare department at a government school in A. Konduru mandal, NTR district, on Saturday, Mr. Lakshmisha said that while 86,000 'Bangaaru Kutumbaalu' have been identified in the district under the P4 programme, 20 per cent of it falls in tribal areas. The Collector said that the focus is on development of infrastructure in tribal areas, and ashram schools are being set up to provide quality education to tribal students. He promised the public that Krishna water will be supplied soon through the Jal Jeevan Mission to the mandal which has seen many kidney diseases among people. He said that a study is also under way to analyse the causes of these diseases. Mr. Lakshmisha said that efforts are under way to make the district illicit-liquor free as part of the 'Navodayam 2.0' programme of the State government. Later, Kolikapudi Srinivasa Rao, representing the Tiruvuru Assembly constituency, urged the tribal youth to focus on education for a bright future. He said that the tribals should make use of government welfare schemes chalked out for their development. He added that a mega job fair would be held in Tiruvuru on August 22, and urged people to take part in it. The programme began with a cultural performance by children. District Tribal Welfare Officer A. Vijayasanthi and other officials took part.
