"We are appalled by the unspeakable horrors currently unfolding in Gaza," the NBC host says Seth Meyers set aside his typical jokes for a few moments on Monday night to make a solemn call for U.S. aid to those suffering in Gaza — and to call out the Trump Administration for being 'complicit' in that suffering. During his 'A Closer Look' segment, Meyers noted that the 'horror of what is happening in Gaza' is 'so obvious' that even Trump himself was made to acknowledge it earlier on Monday. Indeed, the president was asked by members of the press if he agrees with Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu that there's no starvation in Gaza. In another press event, the president added, 'Some of those kids are — that's real starvation stuff. I see it, and you can't fake that.' 'If even Trump is forced to acknowledge the reality of the crisis, that means it is long past time to act and end the suffering,' Meyers said. 'Unfortunately, we have an administration that seems concerned mainly with golf, cover-ups and windmills.' The 'Late Night' host was quick to point out Trump's comments just a day prior, when the president was asked if Israel should be doing more to allow food into Gaza. In response, Trump immediately complained that Gazans aren't being grateful enough to the U.S. as is. 'Well, you know, we gave $60 million two weeks ago and nobody even acknowledged it, for food,' he said. 'And it's terrible. You know, you really at least want to have somebody say thank you.' 'So many responses you could go with first,' Meyers scoffed. 'We need to feed the children, we need to end the killing, we need a cease-fire and to free the hostages. But only Trump could respond with 'Ahem! Does anyone have anything to say to me?' like a DoorDash driver looking for a rating.' The comedian then pushed back at any critics who might argue that 'Late Night' is a comedy show and thus should only make jokes, rather than get serious on matters such as this. 'We try, every day. We try,' he said seriously. 'But we're also human beings, and we are appalled by the unspeakable horrors currently unfolding in Gaza. And our government is complicit, which is why we have a duty as Americans to speak out on a horrific crisis that has been foreseeable for a long time.' Food Network Star Anne Burrell's Cause Of Death Revealed
Food Network star Anne Burrell's cause of death has been determined five weeks after the celebrity chef was found dead in her New York home. The 55-year-old died on June 17 by suicide, the New York City medical examiner's office said in a statement to HuffPost on Thursday following an autopsy investigation. The co-host of 'Worst Cooks in America' died from 'acute intoxication due to the combined effects of diphenhydramine, ethanol, cetirizine, and amphetamine,' the office said. Paramedics were called to Burrell's Brooklyn home on the morning of June 17 after she was found unresponsive, and she was declared dead at the scene. The 911 caller reported that she had gone into cardiac arrest, TMZ previously reported. Burrell's family released a statement at the time of her death that described her as a light that touched millions. 'Anne was a beloved wife, sister, daughter, stepmother, and friend — her smile lit up every room she entered,' they said. 'Anne's light radiated far beyond those she knew, touching millions across the world. Though she is no longer with us, her warmth, spirit, and boundless love remain eternal.' The Food Network also memorialized her as a gift to the culinary world. 'Anne was a remarkable person and culinary talent – teaching, competing and always sharing the importance of food in her life and the joy that a delicious meal can bring. Our thoughts are with Anne's family, friends and fans during this time of tremendous loss,' the network said. Burrell is survived by her husband, Stuart Claxton, her stepson, Javier, her mother, Marlene, and two siblings, People reported. Burrell had served as the original host and judge of 'Worst Cooks in America' since its inception in 2010, but she had been absent from the program for a few months before her death. When fans on social media asked why she wasn't on the show back in January, she replied that she didn't know and said she hoped to return, according to Page Six. Food Network star Anne Burrell died by suicide
Beloved Food Network star Anne Burrell died by suicide, according to the New York City Office of Chief Medical Examiner. On Thursday morning, the chief medical examiner listed the cause of death as 'acute intoxication due to the combined effects of diphenhydramine, ethanol, cetirizine, and amphetamine.' The celebrity chef and host of 'Worst Cooks in America' died June 17 at her home in New York. She was 55. The Food Network honored Burrell's legacy with a night of curated episodes of 'Worst Cooks' on June 25. Her final season on 'Worst Cooks,' co-hosted with Gabe Bertaccini, is scheduled to premiere July 28. Following the news of Burrell's sudden death, her co-stars and colleagues paid tribute on social media. 'A very special person who shared her love of cooking with a generation,' Tyler Florence, Burrell's longtime 'Worst Cooks' co-host, wrote on Instagram following her death. 'I was lucky to have a front row seat to watch her gift. She was an incredible Chef and I learned a lot from her, as we all do with one another.' Burrell 'owned New York City' and could often be found at Rangers games, Florence continued. While filming 'Worst Cooks,' Burrell would join Florence's family for dinner once a week and the two would stay out late drinking red wine if they didn't have work the next day. 'Anne had a collage of star tattoos on her left arm. I asked her what they meant and she said she loved the night sky. And, how lucky she felt to be a star,' Florence wrote. 'She was one of the brightest. There's a new star in the sky tonight. I see you Anne. With all your sparkle, looking down.' Fellow Food Network star Bobby Flay, who co-hosted 'Worst Cooks' for four seasons, posted on his Instagram story a photo of Burrell holding two Maine Coon cats, noting that the chef was the one who introduced him to the breed. Flay's late cat Nacho is a Maine Coon and the inspiration behind his cat food brand 'Made by Nacho.' 'Worst Cooks in America was the funnest show on TV,' Flay wrote. 'All of your co-hosts (me included) were just along for the Anne Burrell ride.' Model Gigi Hadid, who appeared alongside Burrell on an episode of 'Beat Bobby Flay' in 2020, also took to Instagram to express her grief. 'As a longtime fan, getting to share this day with her was a dream come true,' Hadid wrote in a story. 'I wish we could have done it again. She was awesome. Rest in Peace Legend.' Other Food Network regulars who honored Burrell include chefs Alex Guarnaschelli, Giada De Laurentiis and Maneet Chauhan; 'Worst Cooks' co-hosts Beau MacMillan, Robert Irvine and Carla Hall; 'The Next Food Network Star' winner Aarti Sequeira; and 'Cake Boss' star Buddy Valastro. 'Anne, your passion, energy, and love for food lit up every kitchen,' Valastro wrote on Instagram. 'You were a true force and a beautiful soul. Rest in peace, Chef.'

Chef Duff Goldman reveals ‘complex relationship' with Anne Burrell after her death at 55
Chef Duff Goldman is honoring the late Anne Burrell. The pastry chef, 50, penned a touching tribute to the cook after she was found dead at her home on Tuesday at age 55. 'I've written and re-written this post so many times in the past 24 hours and I just don't know what to say. Anne and I became friends in probably 2006,' Goldman wrote via Instagram on Thursday. 'She was going through some stuff and I had heard that she was feeling it so on a trip to NYC from Baltimore I had made her a cake that said 'Don't let the bastards win.' 'We had a complex relationship and I remember the last conversation we had before our paths drifted was a pretty feisty debate about the merits of catfish. I believe the words 'trash fish,' 'tastes like mud,' and 'cake boy' were used, haha,' Goldman continued. 'Anne and I always had a spirited and somewhat acerbic back and forth. Although Goldman didn't disclose what he and Burrell talked about, he did write that 'that conversation left my heart lifted and full of light, for it truly seemed to me that Anne really had found a measure of happiness and love. Life is tough, and we have to be tough to get through it.' Goldman added, 'Anne was as tough as they come, but when you got past the armor there was a depth of compassion and kindness that was absolutely beautiful. The TV star continued to share glimpses into her personal life on social media over the years and also started doing improv in New York City. Goldman concluded his heartfelt post, 'Anne, wherever you are I hope they have slow moving rivers because when I get there, we'll get a couple of rods, a pint of chicken livers, and a sixer and I'll teach you how to catch and cook the best catfish you ever had.
