Food Network Star Anne Burrell's Cause Of Death Revealed
The 55-year-old died on June 17 by suicide, the New York City medical examiner's office said in a statement to HuffPost on Thursday following an autopsy investigation.
The co-host of 'Worst Cooks in America' died from 'acute intoxication due to the combined effects of diphenhydramine, ethanol, cetirizine, and amphetamine,' the office said.
Paramedics were called to Burrell's Brooklyn home on the morning of June 17 after she was found unresponsive, and she was declared dead at the scene. The 911 caller reported that she had gone into cardiac arrest, TMZ previously reported.
Burrell's family released a statement at the time of her death that described her as a light that touched millions.
'Anne was a beloved wife, sister, daughter, stepmother, and friend — her smile lit up every room she entered,' they said. 'Anne's light radiated far beyond those she knew, touching millions across the world. Though she is no longer with us, her warmth, spirit, and boundless love remain eternal.'
The Food Network also memorialized her as a gift to the culinary world.
'Anne was a remarkable person and culinary talent – teaching, competing and always sharing the importance of food in her life and the joy that a delicious meal can bring. Our thoughts are with Anne's family, friends and fans during this time of tremendous loss,' the network said.
Burrell is survived by her husband, Stuart Claxton, her stepson, Javier, her mother, Marlene, and two siblings, People reported.
Burrell had served as the original host and judge of 'Worst Cooks in America' since its inception in 2010, but she had been absent from the program for a few months before her death. When fans on social media asked why she wasn't on the show back in January, she replied that she didn't know and said she hoped to return, according to Page Six.
Her final appearance on 'Worst Cooks' will premiere on the Food Network on Monday, July 28.

Sacramento-area chain Chando's Tacos abruptly shuts all remaining locations
A popular Mexican food restaurant with locations around Sacramento has abruptly shut its doors. All Chando's Tacos locations were closed as of the lunch hour on Tuesday. Doors were locked at the West Sacramento location, and the North Sacramento location on Arden Way was dark. The chain's social media presence was scrubbed as of Tuesday, with Chando's website also redirecting to the Google front page -- a sign that the site had been taken offline. Owned by Lisandro "Chando" Madrigal, the chain once had locations all around the Sacramento region. Madrigal even got some national exposure when he competed on an episode of the Food Network TV show "Chopped" in 2021. Madrigal confirmed to CBS Sacramento that he will be holding a press conference on the matter at 9 a.m. on Monday at his restaurant chain's Arden location. Chando's popularity saw it expand beyond California at one point, with a brick-and-mortar location opening in Decatur, Georgia, near Atlanta in 2023. The Georgia location closed in 2024, however. Only three locations were still in operation as recently as this past weekend: the original restaurant along Arden Way in Sacramento, one near Fruitridge and Power Inn roads, and the West Sacramento location.

Brooke Hogan asked out of Hulk Hogan's will before his death
Brooke Hogan is avoiding any potential issues surrounding Hulk Hogan's large estate. The daughter of the wrestling legend removed herself from Hogan's will in 2023 to avoid a financial battle following his death because she didn't trust the people around Hogan, TMZ reported on Tuesday. Brooke's biggest concern at the time was trying to protect her dad from those she felt were attempting to take advantage of him; however, the two disagreed over the subject and she eventually reached out to Hogan's financial manager to have herself taken out of the will, according to the report. Robert Bell/INSTARimages Hogan, whose real name is Terry Bollea, died at the age of 71 last week after a cardiac arrest in Clearwater, Florida. Brooke, 37, will still receive some money from a life insurance policy that she was a beneficiary on and that she will put toward her kids' college funds. The eldest of Hogan's two children opened up for the first time about her father's passing and her estrangement from him in an Instagram post on Tuesday. Advertisement 'My dad's blood runs through my veins. His eyes shine through my children. And our blood has never broken, not even in his final moments,' Brooke wrote. 'We never had a 'big fight.' My father and I never 'fought.' It was a series of private phone calls no one will ever hear, know, or understand. My father was confiding in me about issues weighing on his heart, both personal and business. I offered to be a life raft in whatever capacity he needed. I told him he had my support.' Advertisement Brooke later detailed how she and her husband, Steven Olesky, moved to Florida in order to be closer to her father as he got older and she had been there with him for nearly 25 surgeries before he 'all of a sudden he didn't want me at surgeries.' Brooke was not in attendance for Hogan's September 2023 wedding to his third wife, Sky Daily, and the two had their last conversation two weeks before the wedding, TMZ reported. 3 Hulk Hogan with daugther Brooke in 2006.
