Avengers: Doomsday may have started filming 15 days ago, but one of its stars still hasn't seen a script: "I've had a preliminary introduction to the idea"

Such is the secrecy surrounding Marvel Studios' big projects, it's little wonder that we know next to nothing about Avengers: Doomsday. Still, it should come as a surprise that – over two weeks into filming – one of its stars says they haven't seen a script yet. "I've had a preliminary introduction to the idea," Grammer said of his Avengers: Doomsday return during an appearance on Literally! With Rob Lowe. "They are still very secretive about the script." Admittedly, Grammer may only need to know a small part of Avengers: Doomsday for his return as Beast – and he may not yet have stepped on set at all in London. But it does echo recent comments from fellow cast mate and Thunderbolts star David Harbour when he spoke to GamesRadar+. "I don't know if you were in the same position, but I kind of knew I was gonna be in it, but I didn't know anybody else was gonna be in it, I don't have a story, I don't have a script, anything like that," Harbour said to John Walker actor Wyatt Russell. Russell added, "I know it changed about a thousand times, and it's still changing. So you're kept on your toes. It's like, I don't know what is happening, but, you know, you get a call, and it's like 'The eagle flies north tonight'. And you're like, 'Okay, I have to get on an airplane.'" Grammer portrayed Beast in X-Men: The Last Stand and X-Men: Days of Future Past. He later reprised his role in the MCU as part of The Marvels post-credits scene which saw Monica Rambeau wake up in another universe to be greeted by Beast and an alternate version of her mother, Maria. Now, the project is gaining momentum with Brett Ratner and bystanders are going into meltdown mode. Live Events The $40 million dollar deal tossed around is no doubt bewildering. But the most shocking part is that Melania chose Brett to take the lead on this project even though he was kicked out of Hollywood some eight years ago. He was under fire following accusations of sexual misconduct by six actesses, but apparently the Trumps "don't care," an insider told The Mirror. An insider said: "Everyone in liberal Hollywood is melting down about it. They can't believe Melania got $40m." The insider continued: "Most people would be concerned about the fact Brett was "cancelled" but the Trumps don't care." Reports also suggest that Brett is the one who brokered the big payment for Melania, so that may help the Trumps take a blind eye when it comes to any alleged past misdoings. It does make one think if the project is really worth $40 million dollars and if Amazon is going to see a return on its investment with Puck co-founder Matthew Belloni answering those questions, that there is more to the story. Brett Ratner sexual assault allegations Brett Ratner, best known for directing X-Men: The Last Stand, is set to helm the upcoming documentary. Ratner, whose most recent directorial work was in 2018, faced multiple allegations of sexual misconduct during the Me Too movement. According to the Los Angeles Times, actresses Olivia Munn and Natasha Henstridge were among those who accused the 55-year-old director of harassment on November 1, 2017—allegations Ratner has denied. An Amazon spokesperson expressed their excitement, stating: "We are excited to share this truly unique story with our millions of customers around the world,". According to The Daily Beast, the documentary promises an "unprecedented, behind-the-scenes look at First Lady Melania Trump." Amazon founder and chairman Jeff Bezos , accompanied by his fiancée Lauren Sanchez, recently visited Mar-a-Lago, the Florida estate of Donald Trump. Their relationship appears to have grown closer, with speculation that Amazon may contribute $1 million to Trump's inaugural fund. The Daily Beast also reports that Bezos is one of several prominent corporate leaders who have recently met with Trump, as Wall Street figures seek to align themselves with the incoming Trump administration.

Halle Berry comments on reprising Storm role in Avengers: Doomsday
Halle Berry has officially shut down any hopes of returning as Storm in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday, leaving fans disappointed. Despite speculation and hopes of seeing her return alongside her X-Men co-stars, Berry made it clear that her name would not appear in the film's cast list. In an interview with Black Girl Nerds, Berry addressed the question of reprising her iconic role, stating, 'Keep waiting. It's not going to be there.' The actress, who first portrayed Storm in 2000's X-Men and reprised the role in X2 (2003) and X-Men: The Last Stand (2006), last appeared as the weather-controlling mutant in 2014's X-Men: Days of Future Past. Avengers: Doomsday, slated for release on May 1, 2026, will feature several actors from the X-Men franchise returning to their iconic roles. The confirmed cast includes Patrick Stewart as Charles Xavier (Professor X), Ian McKellen as Magneto, Alan Cumming as Nightcrawler, Rebecca Romijn as Mystique, James Marsden as Cyclops, and Kelsey Grammer as Beast. Oklahoma native James Marsden joins cast of ‘Avengers: Doomsday.' What to know
Marvel fans have been burning a hole into their screens since 10 a.m. Wednesday as the franchise slowly revealed the cast for the upcoming "Avengers: Doomsday' movie through a five-and-a-half hour long livestream. Around 3 p.m., fans saw a familiar name to Oklahoma and the Marvel universe pop up: 'James Marsden' the chairback read. Marsden, an Oklahoma native, was joined by other castmates from the original trilogy, including Patrick Stewart (as Professor X), Ian McKellen (as Magneto), and Rebecca Romijn (as Mystique). Marsden was the debut actor portraying Scott Summers, better known by his superhero name Cyclops, in the 2000 film 'X-Men.' He would later return in 'X2: X-Men United' (2003) and 'X-Men: The Last Stand' (2006). Though it had been nearly a decade between his appearances, Marsden did make a cameo appearance in the 2014 film 'X-Men: Days of Future Past.' His announcement was made on the live stream, during which Marvel Studios slowly panned through a line of chairs with each actor's name on the back panel. At the end of the live announcement, Marvel officially announced that "Avengers: Doomsday" is in production. Other names in the film include Pedro Pascal ('Fantastic Four: First Steps'), Letitia Wright ('Black Panther: Wakanda Forever'), Florence Pugh ('Thunderbolts') and Robert Downey Jr. ("Avengers: Endgame"). The film has a current release planned for May 1, 2026. It will be followed by "Avengers: Secret Wars" on May 7, 2027. That won't be the only Marvel reunion in "Avengers: Doomsday," as the film also brings the X-Men gang back together. "X-Men" stars Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen have both been added to the cast, presumably playing Charles Xavier and Magneto, respectively. Stewart last played the role of Professor X in 2022's "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness," in which a version of the character was murdered by Scarlet Witch. But this would be McKellen's first time back as Magneto since 2014's "X-Men: Days of Future Past." "Avengers: Doomsday" marks a reunion for the original "X-Men" stars Alan Cumming, who played Nightcrawler; Rebecca Romijn, who played Mystique; James Marsden, who played Cyclops; and Kelsey Grammer, who played Beast and had a surprise cameo in the credits of "The Marvels" in 2023. X-Men's Kelsey Grammer & Patrick Stewart to Return in Avengers: Doomsday Cast
Update 3/26: Patrick Stewart's Charles Xavier will return in Avengers: Doomsday. will return to the MCU in Avengers: Doomsday. On Wednesday, March 26, 2025, the official Marvel Entertainment YouTube page started a live video announcing the cast of Avengers: Doomsday. So far, at the time of this article's publication, the cast announced in the video includes Chris Hemsworth, Vanessa Kirby, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Letitia Wright, Paul Rudd, Wyatt Russell, Tenoch Huerta, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Simu Liu, Florence Pugh, Grammer, Lewis Pullman, and Danny Ramirez. Watch the live video here: Grammer originally played Dr. Hank McCoy/Beast in 2006's X-Men: The Last Stand, while he also had an uncredited cameo in 2014's X-Men: Days of Future Past. His character then reappeared during the mid-credit scene of 2023's The Marvels, with that being Beast's official introduction to the MCU. It's unclear how big of a role that Grammer will have in Avengers: Doomsday. His inclusion does suggest that Teyonah Parris' Monica Rambeau may also be part of the Doomsday cast, as she woke up in a parallel universe only to be greeted by Beast during The Marvels' mid-credit scene. Grammer's casting also begs the question of how large of a role the X-Men will have in Doomsday, as both of the forthcoming Avengers movies are expected to formally kick off new mutant-focused stories for the MCU. Whether or not any other former X-Men actors will show up in Doomsday and Secret Wars remains to be seen. Avengers: Doomsday is being directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, also known as the Russo Brothers. That movie is scheduled to hit United States theaters on May 1, 2026, from Marvel Studios. Avengers: Secret Wars, which is also being helmed by the Russo, then arrives on May 7, 2027. Spider-Man 4 with Tom Holland will be released in-between those two movies on July 31, 2026.
