Rebecca Romijn says "wasn't sure" if she completed shoot for 'Avengers: Doomsday' - 'The script hasn't ...'
(Picture Courtesy: Facebook) Actress and former model Rebecca Romijn shared an update about her return as 'Mystique' in the highly anticipated 'Avengers: Doomsday', according to The Hollywood Reporter. The script hasn't -- they haven't finished writing it Rebecca Romijn shared that she wasn't sure if she had finished filming for the forthcoming Marvel film because the script wasn't fully complete. "I'm not quite sure," she said when asked if she was done shooting her scenes. "The script hasn't -- they haven't finished writing it. It's been very, very fun, and we don't know yet. They keep everything very close to the vest themselves in an effort to keep everything under wraps," as per The Hollywood Reporter. When asked if she had read the script, she didn't open up much about it, saying, "I cannot confirm nor deny that I have read the entire script." She also admitted she "can't say" who she's filmed scenes alongside, but it was a "surreal" experience shooting with some of her original X-Men co-stars with a new, blended cast, as per the outlet. "It was very surreal to be with my old cast as well as a new cast. I had crazy dreams while I was there for a large chunk of the shooting. Like, really kind of regressive dreams," she shared. "It was very strange, my brain was really trying to organise. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Treatment That Might Help You Against Knee Pain Knee pain | search ads Find Now Undo Like, wow, this is a character I played 25 years ago, 20 years ago. The actress also shared what it was like revisiting the role of Mystique, nearly 20 years after she last portrayed the character in 2006's X-Men: The Last Stand. "Oh, I know her very well. I went back in with full ownership of her. It was very nice to go back and play that character, 'cause I had imposter syndrome in the very beginning," she said. Marvel revealed the Avengers: Doomsday cast in late March, which notably includes a string of actors from 20th Century Fox's X-Men universe. Joining Romijn from the inaugural 2000 film are Patrick Stewart as Professor X, Ian McKellen as Magneto and James Marsden as Cyclops. The Traitors host Alan Cumming also returns as Nightcrawler, whom he played in 'X2: X-Men United', and Kelsey Grammer as Beast, from X-Men: The Last Stand, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Nicholas Hoult speaks out on Kelsey Grammer's Beast return for Avengers: Doomsday
Nicholas Hoult is 'excited' to see what Marvel does with Kelsey Grammer's Beast in Avengers: Doomsday. The 70-year-old actor portrayed the mutant superhero in 2006's X-Men: The Last Stand and X-Men: Days of Future Past in 2014, and with Grammer set to reprise his role for Marvel's upcoming team-up blockbuster, Hoult - who played a younger Beast from 2011's X-Men: First Class to Dark Phoenix in 2019 - has now opened up on getting the chance to see Grammer back in action as the character for Avengers: Doomsday. Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, the 35-year-old actor said: 'Kelsey was a great Beast. He was the Beast I saw when I was a kid.' The Superman star added he was also glad to see Grammer's fellow X-Men stars Sir Patrick Stewart (Professor X), Sir Ian McKellen (Magneto) and James Marsden (Cyclops) get the chance to suit up once again for the 2026 Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) film. Hoult said: 'Those were the characters that I got to watch in X-Men movies. I'm excited to see what they do with it. 'It'll be fun to see how they incorporate those characters into that world.' Even so, the Nosferatu actor insisted he would not appear in Avengers: Doomsday as a younger Beast, and bluntly replied, 'no' when asked if he had been approached by Marvel to reprise his role. As well as Grammer, Stewart, McKellen and Marsden, other X-Men alums set to reprise their repective roles for Avengers: Doomsday include Alan Cumming (Nightcrawler), Rebecca Romijn (Mystique) and Channing Tatum - who portrayed Gambit in last year's Deadpool and Wolverine. Cumming recently teased he could be fighting Pedro Pascal's Mr. Fantastic in the upcoming movie. During a video interview with Buzzfeed UK, Cumming said: 'I was learning stunts yesterday for some fight scene and I just think, I'm 60 years old. 23 years ago, I played that superhero. 'I was kind of old for a superhero even then. And now I'm back doing it. And that, to me, is hilarious. 'I'm sort of learning these fights and I'm like, 'What? Who am I fighting with?' And they said, 'You're hitting Pedro Pascal against the head,' or something.' The actor - who played Nightcrawler in 2003's X2: X-Men United - added he was 'amazed and excited' to be returning as the mutant for Avengers: Doomsday. Speaking with fellow X-Men alum Olivia Munn for Collider, Cumming said: 'Isn't it nuts? I'm excited and amazed. It's been 23 years since I was a superhero.' Cumming also revealed the makeup process for Nightcrawler had been drastically cut down since his last appearance in X2: X-Men United. He continued: 'I've had some makeup tests already for the role, but what's great about it was that before it was about four and a half hours to apply it, but now it's only 90 minutes. 'Before, all of the tattoos were done by hand. They hadn't decided on them before we started filming. Now, they just stick onto my face. It's a game changer. 'I'm going back to being a 60-year-old superhero, and everyone seems really lovely.' Avengers: Doomsday will likely see the X-Men, the New Avengers and the Fantastic Four join forces to try to stop the dreaded Doctor Doom (Robert Downey Jr.), who has cataclysmic plans for the Multiverse.

'Thunderbolts' Filmmaker Confirmed as 'X-Men' director
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Entertainment gossip and news from Newsweek's network of contributors Variety has seemingly confirmed that "Thunderbolts*" director Jake Schreier will be helming Marvel's next stab at an "X-Men" film. In a story about Marvel's 2028 release dates, it was speculated that the "X-Men" reboot could be one of the features scheduled for the year. It was mentioned that Jake Schreier had been chosen as the director for the film, though this is the first time that's been confirmed. Read More: New Spider-Man Series Resolves Decades-Old Cliffhanger There were reports in May that Schreier was in early talks to possibly direct "X-Men", including speculation that the reason the director had been turning down work from other studios was to make room for the Marvel feature. But it had yet to be reported that the director/film match was a lock. Promotional material for "X2: X-Men United". Promotional material for "X2: X-Men United". 20th Century Studios The script for the film has been written by Michael Lesslie, with Kevin Feige producing. From one point of view, it's a surprising confirmation considering the "Thunderbolts*" theatrical run didn't end on a high note. In spite of high critical praise and a promising opening weekend, the Marvel film only amassed $380 million against a production budget of $180 million, officially flopping. Of course, the X-Men are a much different animal than the Thunderbolts. On the comic book stands and to movie audiences, the X-Men are a much better-known and proven property. Marvel fans have been waiting for years to see what Marvel Studios would do with beloved characters like Wolverine, Professor X, and Magneto. Few fans, on the other hand, were on the edge of their seat to see the next movie with Red Guardian. Now that we know who will be helming the first MCU "X-Men" film, we still need to wait to learn exactly who will be in the film. We know many of the stars from the Fox X-Men films will be appearing in "Avengers: Doomsday", including Kelsey Grammer, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Alan Cumming, Rebecca Romijn and James Marsden. Add to that Channing Tatum, whose version of Gambit finally got its chance to shine in last year's "Deadpool & Wolverine," but has never been shown as part of an X-Men team on the big screen. There is also continuing speculation that Hugh Jackman will appear in either "Doomsday" and/or the follow-up "Avengers: Secret Wars". But will Schreier use X-Men we already know and love, or will he introduce us to a brand new batch of mutant heroes? Marvel Eyeing 'Thunderbolts' Director for 'X-Men'
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Entertainment gossip and news from Newsweek's network of contributors After a long wait, Marvel may have finally found the director who will bring the X-Men into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Deadline reports that Jake Schreier, director of "Thunderbolts*" (or "*The New Avengers"), is in early talks to helm "X-Men". The script for the film has already been written by Michael Lesslie with Kevin Feige producing. Read More: Fan-Favorite Star From 'The Bear' Cast in 'Spider-Man 4' Deadline reports that things have been looking in favor of Schreier directing "X-Men" ever since positive early reactions to "Thunderbolts*" began pouring in. They also say that while other studios have come knocking, the director has been turning down other work, possibly to make room for "X-Men". Promotional material for "X2: X-Men United". Promotional material for "X2: X-Men United". 20th Century Studios It isn't exactly a shock that Marvel would consider Schreier a top contender to bring the X-Men back into the fold. "Thunderbolts*" not only earned overwhelmingly positive reviews from critics, but pulled in $162 million globally on its first weekend. Marvel has taken its time bringing the X-Men into the MCU and has slowly been introducing the very notion of mutants into the narrative while at the same time teasing fans with clever cameos. As early as the 2021 series "WandaVision" the appearance of Evan Peters as Quicksilver had fans speculating the series would open the doors for the X-Men. Fans have since been treated to the return of "X-Men" actors such as Patrick Stewart in "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness" and Kelsey Grammer in "The Marvels". In the meantime characters such as Iman Vellani's Ms. Marvel and Namor of "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever" have been teased as early examples of mutants in the MCU. Last year's "Deadpool & Wolverine" brought Hugh Jackman back to his signature role and connected the world of the cinematic X-Men to that of the larger MCU, but without bringing them into Earth-616, the prime Marvel timeline. "Avengers: Doomsday" promises to do even more with the X-Men. During Marvel's epic 5-hour cast announcement, it was revealed "X-Men" actors Stewart, Grammer, Ian McKellen, Rebecca Romijn, James Marsden, and Alan Cumming would all be appearing, presumably as their famous mutant personas. "Thunderbolts*" is playing in theaters now. The film is directed by Jake Schreier and stars Florence Pugh, Sebastian Stan, David Harbour, Wyatt Russell, Olga Kurylenko, Lewis Pullman, Geraldine Viswanathan, Chris Bauer, Wendell Edward Price, Hannah John-Kamen, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus.
