Mahindra XUV700 Sunroof Leaks After Heavy Rain In Viral Video
Last Updated: A Mahindra XUV700 owner shared a video showing rainwater leaking through the panoramic sunroof during heavy showers. Mahindra is one of the top SUV makers in India, and their XUV700 has gained a lot of popularity thanks to its modern features, including the panoramic sunroof. But while a sunroof adds style and excitement, it can sometimes cause trouble if not maintained properly. Recently, a video shared by Chandigarh News on Instagram shows a Mahindra XUV700 owner facing a big issue with his sunroof during heavy rains. The man, assumed to be from Chandigarh, can be seen sitting in the driver's seat with a towel on his lap, trying to soak up the water dripping from the roof. Water Leaking Inside the SUV The video shows rainwater leaking into the cabin through the roof-mounted speakers, which are placed near the panoramic sunroof. The man can be heard complaining about the car's quality, saying that while most cars are made to keep rainwater out, this one lets you 'enjoy the rain from inside." As per Cartoq, this isn't the first time something like this has happened. There have been other videos online showing similar leaks in vehicles with panoramic sunroofs, including the XUV700. Shared on July 23, the video has garnered over 1.5 million views so far. Why Does This Happen? Panoramic sunroofs are designed to be water-resistant, not completely waterproof. If you have noticed, there is a rubber lining (called beading) around the sunroof glass. Beneath that, there is a small drainage system, or channels and pipes that carry away any water that seeps in. However, if these drain pipes get blocked, usually by dust, dry leaves, or debris, the water has nowhere to go and starts leaking into the car's cabin, as per Cartoq. This is more common in cars parked outdoors or not regularly cleaned. How to Avoid This Problem Just like you service your car before the rainy season, it is important to get your sunroof inspected too. Make sure the drain pipes are clear and clean. A small bit of dirt or a single leaf can clog the system and cause leaks. Regular cleaning and maintenance can prevent this issue altogether. The Mahindra XUV700 comes with two engine options, one diesel and one petrol. The diesel engine is 2198 cc, while the petrol engine is 1999 cc. You can choose between a manual and an automatic transmission, depending on the variant. In terms of fuel efficiency, the XUV700 offers a mileage between 13 kmpl and 17 kmpl, depending on the fuel type and model. This SUV is designed to seat up to 7 people and runs on a 4-cylinder engine. As for its size, the XUV700 is 4695 mm long, 1890 mm wide, and has a wheelbase of 2750 mm, giving it a spacious and solid presence on the road. view comments Location : Delhi, India, India First Published: July 29, 2025, 10:26 IST News auto Mahindra XUV700 Sunroof Leaks After Heavy Rain In Viral Video Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Mahindra Scorpio N Pickup Truck Spied Testing: Watch Video
Mahindra & Mahindra is working on the development of multiple new products. The test mules of these products are being spotted on Indian roads. Until now, the automotive enthusiasts have spotted the facelift version of Thar, XUV700, BE Rall-e, and others. Extending the list further, the Scorpio N-based pickup truck has been spied testing in Maharashtra. Although it was covered in camouflage with headlights and taillights meant for trial, it still revealed quite a few details. The one in the video is the double-cab version of the pickup truck. Previous spy shots confirmed that the model will have two iterations: a single-cab and a double-cab version. This means that the brand will have various iterations of the vehicle to serve consumers with various needs. The one in this case is the double-cab version. It seems to have a new grille and a shark fin antenna. Based on the video, the Scorpio N pickup truck's double-cab version is equipped with basic steel wheels. Both models come with a roll bar that rises above the roof of the cabin, a feature likely designed for structural safety in rollover scenarios. At the back, the production test units appear to utilize halogen taillamps, which seem to have replaced the LED lights showcased in the original concept. These halogen lights resemble those found on the previous Scorpio Getaway. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Amarjeet Singh | Journalist (@autotubeindia) The previously revealed concept version boasted an impressive array of modern technologies, including Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), 5G connectivity, trailer sway control, several airbags, driver fatigue detection, and Mahindra's 4Xplore four-wheel-drive system. It remains to be seen how many of these features will be incorporated into the final production model. In terms of mechanics, the forthcoming pickup is anticipated to share its powertrain with current Mahindra SUVs. This likely means it will include a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine and a 2.2-litre diesel engine. Expected transmission options are a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard, along with the choice of a 6-speed torque converter automatic.

The XUV700 is one of the most successful products that Mahindra has launched in India. Check Offers Mahindra and Mahindra has announced that the XUV700 has clocked 3 lakh sales in the Indian market. The SUV was first launched in India back in 2021, and it still garners a strong demand, which is quite impressive as the brand has not yet launched any sort of facelift for it. Back in March, the brand crossed the 2.5 lakh sales mark and announced a few offers, but that has not happened this time. Mahindra XUV700 facelift under works Mahindra's popular XUV700 is getting its first facelift, and spy shots show prototypes testing on India's roads for the first time. The revamped SUV, expected in early 2026, focuses on style updates and enhanced features, with no major mechanical changes anticipated. The grille has been reimagined with slanted vertical slats, and the front bumper gets refreshed styling. While the current camo doesn't fully reveal rear styling, it's likely to include subtle bumper refinements and a sleek LED light bar. Camouflaged wheels hide any changes there, though updates in alloy design are probable. As seen above, the XUV700 will boast a new front fascia. Interior & Tech Upgrades Inside, the facelift is expected to bring in a triple-screen layout—comprising a driver display, central infotainment, and passenger touchscreen—borrowed from Mahindra's electric XEV 9e. Transmission options will remain a 6‑speed manual or torque-converter automatic. AWD configurations are likely to continue, and although rumours suggest a plug-in hybrid may be on the horizon, it's probably not part of this update Testing mules surfaced in June 2025, hinting at a debut later this year or in early 2026. Some suggest Mahindra might even rebrand the model as "XUV7XO" upon launch. However, given the cosmetic-only scope of this update, substantial increases in price aren't expected—more a mid-cycle revamp than a full redesign.
