Cyrus co-directs with Jacob Bixenman and Brendan Walter. 'Something Beautiful' will feature 13 original songs from Cyrus' ninth studio album of the same name. The film is mixed by Alan Meyerson ('Dune Part One,' 'The Dark Knight') for a theatrical release. 'My co-creators are all geniuses in their own right: from the masters of sound, Shawn Everett and Alan Meyerson, to one of cinema's most unique directors, Panos Cosmatos serving as a producer. Each collaborator has used their expertise to make this fantasy a reality.' 'Something Beautiful' will have its world premiere June 6 at the Tribeca Festival. The film follows the trend of visual albums with feature accompaniments: The Weeknd recently debuted 'Hurry Up Tomorrow' starring Jenna Ortega and Barry Keoghan to coincide with his album as well. As for the 'Something Beautiful' team, producer Cosmatos has his own feature in the works starring another first-time female director, Kristen Stewart, whose 'The Chronology of Water' wowed at Cannes. Stewart will star alongside Oscar Isaac in Cosmatos' '80s-set vampire rave drama 'Flesh of the Gods,' written by 'Se7en' screenwriter Andrew Kevin Walker. The film centers on married couple Raoul (Isaac) and Alex (Stewart) who descend each evening from their luxury skyscraper condo and head into an electric nighttime realm of '80s Los Angeles, per the official synopsis. When they cross paths with a mysterious and enigmatic woman and her hard-partying cabal, Raoul and Alex are seduced into a glamorous, surrealistic world of hedonism, thrills, and violence. 'Flesh of the Gods' will be the fourth collaboration between Cosmatos and XYZ, including 'Something Beautiful.' 'Something Beautiful' will be released in theaters for one night only on June 12 from Trafalgar Releasing and Sony Music Vision. Check out the trailer below. The Ritual is one of the most intriguing horror movies of the year. No other American possession film has ever had a backstory like this one because the real. Not all horror is fiction. As the film's opening suggests, the story is based on Joseph Steiger's transcribed events, making this one of the most well-documented exorcisms in American history. Here are the film's actors and the real-life people behind the main characters: Legendary actor Al Pacino portrays Father Theophilus Riesinger in "The Ritual." BYOHW (Bring Your Own Holy Water). The real-life Father Theophilus Riesinger was a German-American exorcist. It may seem odd that he isn't wearing the white collar like so many other famous priests and exorcists, but that's because, along with being a Roman Catholic priest, he was also a Capuchin friar. Pacino may have lacked that mighty beard, but he still brought the duds. Here they are side-by-side: XYZ Films, The Occult Museum / Via Actor Dan Stevens portrays Reverand Joesph Steiger. The real Reverand Joesph Steiger transcribed the events The Ritual is based on, so it only made sense that the narrative moved through him in the film. Stevens wears many hats in horror, but this was his first time donning a white collar. Here they are side-by-side: XYZ Films, The Occult Museum / Via Every possession film has the "possessed" character, a role played by Abigail Cowen. She portrays Emma Schmidt The real Emma Schmidt was known under the pseudonym Anna Ecklund. Her possession was alleged to have lasted for decades. Her case was so well-documented that it received a profile in the 1936 edition of TIME Magazine. The documented claims of what happened to this girl are truly the stuff that inspires every possession horror movie. Cowen's performance in The Ritual brings the terror to life on the big screen. Read my lips: AI-dubbed films are debuting in cinemas
Foreign language cinephiles can be split into two distinct categories – subtitle-lovers and those who swear by the dubbed version. Dubbing critics have long grumbled about the pitfalls of mismatched audio and awkward lip-syncing, but new technology is quietly changing the face (and mouths) of international cinema. Last week, Swedish sci-fi film Watch The Skies opened in US theatres – marketed as the world's first full-length theatrical feature to use AI for an immersive dubbing – a process that makes the characters look as though they are speaking English. XYZ Films partnered with AI start-up Flawless, which uses TrueSync, a visual tool which alters the character's mouth movements and speech to appear perfectly synced for an English-speaking audience. 'For the movie industry, this is a game changer,' producer Albin Pettersson declared in a behind-the-scenes trailer for the film. 'The Swedish language is a barrier when you want to reach out around the world.' It's important to note the AI tool has not replaced the actors – the original cast of Watch The Skies, having shot the film in Swedish, then recorded their English lines in a studio. This kept them compliant with SAG-AFTRA guidelines. 'I think a lot of filmmakers and a lot of actors will be afraid of this new technology at first,' added writer and director Victor Danell. 'But we have creative control and to act out the film in English was a real exciting experience.' Watch The Skies is the start of a long list of AI-dubbed international film collaborations between XYZ Films and Flawless set to be released in the US. They include French film The Book of Solutions, Korean flick Smugglers, Persian-language film Tatami, and German film The Light.
