Kuwait U-23 set for Oman and Malaysia friendlies in Thailand
BANGKOK, Aug 14: Kuwait's Olympic soccer team will face Malaysia on August 14 and Oman on August 21 in friendly matches during its training camp in Thailand, which kicked off earlier this week. The squad is also seeking to arrange a third friendly early next week. The camp, based in Bangkok and running until August 26, is part of preparations for the AFC U-23 Asian Cup qualifiers (Saudi Arabia 2026). Kuwait will compete in Group B alongside hosts Myanmar, Japan, and Afghanistan, with the qualifiers scheduled from September 1 to 9. Before traveling to Bangkok, the Olympic team notched local friendly wins over Yarmouk, Fahaheel, and Kazma. Head coach Dario Besic of Croatia and his staff are working to ensure the squad is fully prepared and to finalize the best possible lineup for the upcoming qualifiers.

Kuwait U-23 dominates Yarmouk before heading to Thailand for training camp
KUWAIT CITY, Aug 11: Kuwait's Olympic soccer team recorded a 3-0 victory over Yarmouk in a friendly match at Abdullah Al-Khalifa Stadium. Goals came from Adel Al-Shammari, Moaz Al-Osaimea, and Abdulrahman Al-Rashidi. The squad departs today for Thailand to begin an overseas training camp in preparation for the AFC U-23 Asian Cup qualifiers. Kuwait will compete in Group B, which features Japan, Afghanistan, and host nation Myanmar, with matches scheduled from September 1 to 9. The tournament finals will take place in Saudi Arabia in January next year. Al-Tadamon to play multiple friendlies as part of season build-up
KUWAIT CITY, Aug 9: Al-Tadamon has scheduled two friendly matches against Yarmouk and Burqan on August 14 and 18 as part of its preparations for the upcoming Zain Premier League season, which kicks off against Kuwait Club on September 12. Following the match against Burgan, the team will embark on a training camp abroad, where they will play several additional friendly matches. The team has reinforced its squad with key signings, including Nigerian professional Folabi, French players Jonathan Bamba and Zakaria Slimani, Portuguese Pedro, and Syrian Ahmed Al-Dali. Al-Tadamon aims to deliver strong and convincing performances throughout the new season. Training sessions began last week on the subsidiary field at Jaber Al-Ahmad International Stadium, as the club's main stadium undergoes maintenance. The sessions are led by Portuguese coach Miguel Leal in preparation for the season ahead. The club has also added local talents such as Abdul Mohsen Al-Ajmi, Salman Al-Ajmi, Turki Al-Mutairi, and Ali Fadel to its roster. Negotiations are ongoing to sign additional local players to further strengthen the squad and achieve the team's goals.

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 9: The Kuwait Olympic soccer team will play its third friendly match tonight against Yarmouk at 7:00 pm at Abdullah Al-Khalifa Stadium, before departing for a training camp in Thailand as part of preparations for the U-23 Asian Cup finals to be hosted by Saudi Arabia next January. Kuwait is drawn in Group B of the U-23 Asian Cup qualifiers alongside Japan, Afghanistan, and Myanmar, which will host the group matches from September 1 to 9. Tonight's game follows two earlier friendlies, in which the team defeated Kazma 3-1 and overcame Fahaheel 1-0 last Thursday, thanks to a goal from Jarrah Al-Hulaileh. Croatian head coach Dario Basic aims to use the match to evaluate player readiness and strengthen team cohesion, especially with several new additions to the squad, as the team targets strong results in the upcoming competition. Exiled Syrian family returns home to ruins of Yarmouk refugee camp after fall of Assad
16:18 South of the Syrian capital Damascus, Yarmouk refugee camp was the scene of violent clashes between Bashar al-Assad's regime and rebel militias, and later the Islamic State group, during the almost 14-year-long Syrian war. Ahmed and Jihane Tameem were among those who fled the bombs at the end of 2012. Three years later, they left Syria and found refuge in Sweden with their two children. Now, after the fall of Assad, they have returned home to reunite with their loved ones. FRANCE 24's Claire Billet and Olivier Jobard report.
