MP warns officials over delay in single site approvals

Udupi: Complaints about issues with the single site plan approvals from the Udupi Urban Development Authority (UUDA) are increasingly being reported by the general public, causing difficulties in constructing homes and buildings. After receiving several complaints from people, Udupi-Chikmagalur MP Kota Shrinivas Poojary directed officials of the authority to resolve the issue within 15 days. He spoke while presiding over a meeting held at the Deputy Commissioner's Office in Manipal on Saturday, to discuss the problems related to the single site and Form 9/11. After the distribution of 9/11 was reassigned from gram panchayats to the authority, there were unnecessary delays, causing applicants to become frustrated. Despite govt directives to approve single site plans leaving six metres from the road edge, thousands of files remained pending due to the authority's negligence. Officials must resolve all files within 15 days, the MP said. If local urban bodies propose that road expansions are not possible as per the directive, the govt order to permit only 3.5m must be followed. The interference of middlemen in the authority should be immediately stopped, and the troubles faced by the general public should be alleviated, he suggested. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Trading CFD dengan Teknologi dan Kecepatan Lebih Baik IC Markets Mendaftar Undo Udupi MLA Yashpal Suvarna said that over 11,000 applications for single site approvals are pending with the urban development authority in the district, and immediate action should be taken for their urgent clearance. Opposing anti-constitutional policies duty of legislators: MLA Yashpal Suvarna

Udupi: Udupi MLA Yashpal Suvarna said that the decision taken by assembly speaker UT Khader to suspend MLAs was unconstitutional. "Now, by deciding to retract from his order, the speaker has allowed us to fulfil our responsibilities as legislators. It is our duty as opposition legislators to oppose the ruling govt's anti-constitutional policies in the assembly, such as the reservation for Muslim contractors in govt projects and the honeytrap issue involving Congress ministers. The speaker's unilateral decision to suspend legislators for six months restricts our constitutional rights, which is unfortunate," the MLA said. A petition was already filed in the Supreme Court by the BJP challenging the speaker's order, and the governor also wrote to the speaker to revoke the suspension order. "As an opposition legislator, it is my duty to oppose the govt's anti-people policies and bills. Such suspension orders can never suppress our struggle, and there is no question of compromising on our principles and national issues,'' he said.

MLA Suvarna opposes hike in power bill

Udupi: The state govt decided to increase the electricity bill by 36 paise per unit to fund the pensions of energy department employees, which is opposed by Udupi MLA Yashpal Suvarna. The govt is collecting this additional charge from consumers to cover the pensions and gratuities of various ESCOM and KPTCL staff, leading to consumer outrage. In the May bill, consumers are being charged an extra 36 paise per unit, amounting to hundreds of rupees more per month. This move to recover approximately Rs 2,800 crore annually from electricity users, which was previously funded by the govt, is seen as an additional burden on consumers. This decision exacerbates the difficulties faced by people already struggling with increased electricity rates, stated MLA Suvarna, who wrote to energy minister KJ George. In his letter, the MLA urged the govt to retract this order and continue funding the pensions and gratuities from the govt budget, instead of imposing the cost on consumers.
