Standards Authority destroys expired goods in Hodeida, Sa'ada
Sana'a - Saba: The Yemeni Authority for Standardization, Metrology and Quality Control destroyed expired and non-compliant goods in Hodeida and Sa'ada Governorates. In a statement issued today, a copy of which was received by the Yemeni News Agency (Saba), the Authority explained that it destroyed globes depicting a world map bearing the name of the Zionist entity, as well as used car spare parts in Hodeida Governorate, as these are prohibited products under Ministerial Resolution No. (481) of 2009. In Hodeida, women's second hand trousers were destroyed. They were worn and torn, and are among the products prohibited from import under the Authority's Circular No. 11 of 1444 AH and Cabinet Resolution No. 63 of 2018. The statement noted that industrial drinking powders were destroyed in Sa'ada Governorate, as they did not conform to approved standard specifications. These products are prohibited from import. It noted that these goods were destroyed in cooperation with customs, security agencies, and relevant authorities, in accordance with legal procedures and the Authority's mandate to protect consumer health and safety and prevent the entry of any goods that do not meet specifications. The Authority urged all importers to adhere to the requirements and not import prohibited products, stressing that it will not tolerate any products that do not meet specifications and standards, in order to preserve consumer safety as the first line of defense. YASMQC carries out field survey for markets in Capital, provinces
Sana'a - Saba: The Yemeni Authority for Standardization, Metrology and Quality Control (YASMQC) on Wednesday carried out a field campaign to survey the markets in the Yemeni capital and governorates. The campaign aimed to ensure that goods and products in the markets are subject to the supervision of the organization, especially juices, beverages and vegetable oils. YASMQC Executive Director General, Sam Al-Bashiri, told the Yemeni News Agency (Saba) that the campaign came within the framework of strengthening the organization's supervisory and awareness role and preserving the health and safety of the consumer and protecting the environment and the public safety of society. He explained that during the campaign, the extent to which stores selling targeted goods and products adhered to the requirements and conditions of the standard specifications and approved technical regulations related to display and storage was verified. Al-Bashiri stated that the campaign included providing technical instructions and instructions and distributing awareness posters to raise awareness among store owners and the local community, stressing that the violating products were withdrawn and seized and the necessary legal measures were taken against them. Standards Authority launches market, gas station monitoring campaigns
Sana'a - Saba: The Yemeni Authority for Standardization, Metrology and Quality Control has initiated field operations to monitor markets in Taiz province and gas stations in Dhamar province. In Taiz, the Authority has commenced a 10-day campaign targeting markets and shops to inspect food products, ensure accurate weights and measurements of packaged goods, and educate vendors on proper product display and trading requirements, especially with the approach of Ramadan. Director of the Authority's Taiz branch Eng. Riyadh Al-Bukhaiti urged consumers to scrutinize product labels and validity dates, and to avoid non-compliant goods. The campaign includes distributing informational brochures to shop owners about trading standards. Simultaneously, in Dhamar, the Authority concluded a periodic monitoring and calibration program for domestic gas filling stations and industrial facility measuring tools. Director of the Authority's Dhamar branch Dr. Yahya al-Dabai emphasized the importance of verifying that measuring and weighing tools have the Authority's verification sticker to prevent commercial fraud.
