In line with the Royal directives, Royal Court Chief Yousef Issawi on Saturday inaugurates several Royal Initiative projects across different areas in Irbid Governorate and inspects progress on other projects under implementation (Petra photo) AMMAN — In line with the Royal directives, Royal Court Chief Yousef Issawi on Saturday inaugurated several Royal Initiative projects across different areas in Irbid Governorate and inspected progress on other projects under implementation. These projects are part of a series of Royal initiatives aimed at improving the quality of services provided to citizens and promoting sustainable development in various regions of the Kingdom, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported. In Ramtha District, Issawi, accompanied by minister of social development, Irbid governor, and Sahel Houran mayor, inaugurated the new expansion of the disability centre affiliated with the Sahel Houran Association. Issawi toured various facilities of the project, which includes the construction of an additional floor comprising five classrooms and administrative and health facilities. As part of ongoing Royal efforts to expand social, educational, and rehabilitation care for people with disabilities, seven Royal initiative projects have been carried out in Irbid. These include the establishment and development of specialised disability centres across the governorate through annual funding provided on the occasion of His Majesty King Abdullah's birthday. In the districts of North Mazar and Bani Kinanah, Issawi, accompanied by several officials, inaugurated two public parks, where each park includes a five-a-side football field, safe and equipped play units for children, including those with disabilities, green areas planted with trees, paved walkways, and seating areas. These public parks and fields offer open urban spaces that enhance quality of life, particularly for children and youth in these areas. Nine public parks have been established across Irbid Governorate under the Royal initiatives. In Umm Qais in Bani Kinanah District, Issawi checked on the progress of the eco-lodge project in the Yarmouk Nature Reserve. Issawi toured the project facilities, which will include 20 chalets, 10 hotel rooms, a visitor centre, various tourist amenities including a restaurant and additional services, as well as open areas with panoramic views and eco-tourism trails within the reserve. The eco-lodge is expected to boost eco-tourism and local tourism in Jordan and attract local and foreign tourists. In the Northern Jordan Valley District, Issawi inaugurated two five-a-side football fields. As part of the Royal initiative, integrated buildings were constructed for clubs, fully equipped with necessary supplies and a transportation service to support the players. Irbid has also witnessed the construction of 20 diverse sports fields under the Royal initiatives, including 14 five-a-side fields distributed across the governorate's districts, three standard football fields, in addition to the renovation and grassing of existing fields. In a statement to the press, Issawi said that the projects inaugurated and inspected in Irbid on Saturday were established upon directives from His Majesty. Issawi added that King Abdullah is always keen, through his visits and meetings with the people of the governorate, to personally assess their needs, listen to their demands, and direct the implementation of priority projects that improve service quality and provide job opportunities for local communities.

Jordan: Royal court chief inspects progress on Royal development projects in Zarqa
AMMAN — Royal Court Chief Yousef Issawi, who also heads the committee overseeing the implementation of Royal Initiatives, on Saturday inspected progress on development projects in the Tilaal Al Phosphate area (Phase II) and Wadi Al Ash in Zarqa Governorate. Issawi was accompanied by several senior officials, including Minister of Local Administration Walid Masri, Minister of Agriculture Khaled Hneifat, Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply Yousef Qudah, Minister of Environment Muawieh Radaideh, Zarqa Governor Firas Abu Qaoud, Director of the Royal Department for Environmental Protection Brig. Gen. Tembi Hamkari, Chairman of the Zarqa Chamber of Industry (ZCI) Fares Hammoudeh, Ruseifa Mayor Shadi Zeinati and Deputy Zarqa Mayor Fathi Khalayleh, according to a Royal Court statment. Two ministerial committees, led by the Minister of Local Administration and comprising representatives of all relevant bodies, were overseeing the rehabilitation of the two sites. Their objective was to address environmental and infrastructure challenges and transform the areas into economic hubs through integrated planning, infrastructure development, and the allocation of land for investment, all in line with Royal directives. In Ruseifa District, the delegation visited lands rehabilitated in Phase I, spanning around 134 dunums. These lands are earmarked for parks, recreational spaces, and investment projects that will serve residents of Ruseifa and nearby communities. Masri presented scenarios for future development, with the Ministry of Local Administration set to commission a specialised consulting firm to prepare studies and plans, guided by committee proposals and local community needs. The government will provide public services and infrastructure, while inviting private sector investment. The tour also included a visit to state-owned factories established on part of the Tilaal Al Phosphate lands, where Issawi was briefed on their operations. He also inspected the site of the former livestock market, which was relocated due to environmental and public health concerns. At the entrance to Ruseifa along the Amman-Zarqa highway, Issawi toured the remaining phosphate hills that are slated for landscaping and rehabilitation. Plans include levelling, laying red soil, planting trees, and beautification efforts to improve the area's visual appeal. The delegation also reviewed the status of Ruseifa National Park. Discussions focused on the park's rehabilitation and the enhancement of its agricultural and recreational facilities. As one of the city's oldest parks and once its only major public outlet, the site will be managed and redeveloped by Ruseifa Municipality. The Central State Properties Committee has officially approved allocating the park land to the Ministry of Local Administration. In the Wadi Al Ash industrial zone, Issawi reviewed redevelopment efforts aimed at establishing a hub for light industry. The area will benefit from improved infrastructure, road networks, upgraded entrances and exits, and updated regulatory frameworks. The tour included inspection of a new 1,200-metre internal road connecting the industrial zone to the Amman-Zarqa highway. The road, part of the Royal Initiatives, features four lanes, a central median, a redesigned roundabout, and a monument donated by the Zarqa Chamber of Industry to commemorate the Jordanian state's centennial. Issawi also followed up on efforts to link the area with the Amman Development Corridor. The two connecting roads are around 42 per cent complete and are expected to be finalised by the end of July. Further stops included visits to 49 brick and stone-cutting factories, 28 of which are built on 48 dunums of state land, with the rest on private plots. Authorities are currently assessing options to integrate these facilities into the broader master plan, with attention to environmental standards, health regulations, and optimal land use. Issawi was briefed on infrastructure upgrades and the challenges facing industrial and service development in the area, including road networks and utility provision. He emphasised the importance of removing obstacles, streamlining procedures, and ensuring quick, tangible outcomes, in accordance with Royal directives. He also urged full coordination and immediate action by all concerned agencies within their respective mandates. © Copyright The Jordan Times. All rights reserved. Provided by SyndiGate Media Inc. Second phase of Royal food cart initiative kicks off to support youth entrepreneurship
Royal Court Chief Yousef Issawi presids over the signing ceremony of several agreements and a memorandum of understanding to launch the initiative's second phase (Photo courtesy of the Royal Court) AMMAN — The Royal Court on Thursday launched the second phase of the Royal Food Cart Initiative, in line with His Majesty King Abdullah's directives to support youth economic empowerment and foster a culture of entrepreneurship across the Kingdom. Royal Court Chief Yousef Issawi, who also heads the follow-up committee for the implementation of Royal Initiatives, presided over the signing ceremony of several agreements and a memorandum of understanding to launch the initiative's second phase. The Royal Food Cart Initiative seeks to empower young Jordanians by enabling them to establish and manage mobile food businesses in key tourism and development areas throughout the country, according to a Royal Court statement. This phase will involve the deployment of 25 food carts in strategic locations across various governorates. It specifically targets unemployed culinary arts graduates from the Royal Academy of Culinary Arts, the Vocational Training Corporation, and Ammon Applied University College. Eligible participants will fall within a defined age range to ensure their integration into the labour market. Speaking at the ceremony, Issawi said the initiative reflects the vision of His Majesty King Abdullah and HRH Crown Prince Hussein to guide young people toward productive careers and entrepreneurship, in line with Jordan's economic modernisation efforts. The programme is administered by the King Abdullah II Fund for Development (KAFD), in cooperation with multiple public and private sector institutions, including the Ministry of Labour, the Greater Amman Municipality, local municipalities, the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority, the Petra Development and Tourism Region Authority, the Development Zones Commission, and the King Hussein Business Park. The signed agreements outline the legal and operational framework for the programme's expansion, including provisions for training, logistics, and cart placement. Operational support will be provided by a newly established logistics company formed through a partnership between KAFD and the National Microfinance Bank. The company will offer technical and administrative assistance to ensure quality, sustainability, and adherence to food safety standards. Minister of Labour Khaled Bakkar commended the initiative as a practical step toward reshaping youth attitudes toward employment. 'This initiative marks a shift from job-seeking to self-employment. It empowers youth to take control of their economic future,' he said. KAFD Director General Abdul Fattah Kayed stressed the importance of creating innovative, youth-driven economic opportunities. 'The food cart model enables young entrepreneurs to build sustainable businesses with real market potential,' he said, reaffirming KAFD's commitment to overcoming any challenges during implementation.
