Mortada Mansour: "Ramez Galal insults egyptians and Harms Egyptian-Saudi relations"
ALBAWABA—Mortada Mansour, the former president of the Zamalek Club, has publicly said that he plans to prosecute Egyptian comic Ramez Galal when Ramadan concludes, alleging that Galal committed "detainment crimes" via his contentious prank program "Ramez Elon Masr." Mansour said that Galal's presentation involved illegal imprisonment in a video that went viral on social media, citing a statute that requires people to report crimes. Mansour claims that the prank format, which involves visitors being physically confined to a hospital bed by their hands and feet, violates their right to personal freedom. Celebrities are tricked into thinking they are serving as judges on a fictitious talent competition named "Golden Talent" by the hoax program, which is now broadcast during the Ramadan season. Ramez Galal, musician Nawal El Zoghbi, Saudi football icon Mohamed Noor, and TV anchor Basant Shams, who serves as the program's presenter, are on the panel of judges. شكراً معالي المستشار تصريح واقعي للأسف 🇸🇦 — edom 🇸🇦 (@xwehere) March 23, 2025 When the visitor is asked to test a purported medical innovation—an AI-powered robot that can do a complete medical scan in 10 minutes—the joke becomes more intense. Mansour's allegations of wrongful detention stem from the fact that the visitor is confined throughout this staged rally. Stars from the entertainment and sports industries, like Fifi Abdo, Ahmed Fahmy, Mohamed Ragab, Nour El Nabawy, Ahmed El Awady, Hossam Habib, Zeina, and others, are among the high-profile guests on the program. Galal's prank programs are well-known for their shock value and large audience, but this most recent one has rekindled discussion about the moral and legal limits of Egyptian television entertainment.

Mortada Mansour sentenced to 6 months in prison for slandering Khatib
The Economic Court in Cairo on Monday ruled to imprison the former president of Zamalek Club, Mortada Mansour, for six months, after he was convicted of slandering the president of Al-Ahly Club, Mahmoud al-Khatib, and the club's legal advisor, Mohamed Othman. The court also ruled to fine Mansour LE40,000 and oblige him to pay LE 20,000 as temporary compensation to those he slandered. Background of the dispute The dispute between Mansour and Khatib has resulted in numerous legal cases, the most prominent of which was the ruling issued in February 2023, when the Court of Cassation rejected Mansour's appeal against a previous ruling to imprison him for a month over insulting and defaming Khatib. The ruling was then implemented and Mansour was deported to the Wadi al-Natrun prison, which led to his dismissal from the presidency of Zamalek Club by virtue of a court ruling. In November 2024, the Economic Court then issued two separate rulings obligating Mansour to pay financial compensation to Khatib, one in the amount of LE 500,000, and the other in the amount of one million Egyptian pounds, due to the cases of slander and defamation filed against him by the president of Ahly Club. Other pending cases Courts are still considering other cases between the two parties. Earlier this March, the Economic Court considered six new lawsuits filed by Khatib and others against Mansour, accusing him of defamation and slander. Ten other cases filed by Al-Ahly Club's legal advisor, Othman, regarding offensive statements attributed to Mansour were also adjourned. Edited translation from Al-Masry Al-Youm
