Jonathan Scott and Zooey Deschanel having 'too much fun' planning wedding

Jonathan Scott and Zooey Deschanel have been having "too much fun" to plan their wedding. The couple got engaged in August 2023 after four years together but the Celebrity IOU host admitted he and the former New Girl star - who has Elsie, 10, and eight-year-old Charlie with ex-husband Jacob Pechenik - have yet to find the time to set a date for their big day. Speaking about his new show Chasing the West, Jonathan, 47, told People magazine: 'We've just been having so much fun travelling with the kids and filming this show and stuff. 'So no, we have not actually made any plans yet, which, it's been two years now since I proposed.' When they do get round to planning their wedding, Jonathan and Zooey, 45, want to keep things "intimate". He said: 'Whatever we do, it has to be meaningful to us and we want to gather our friends and family and have a good time. "We want to keep it very, very intimate.' While making Chasing the West with his brother Drew Scott made Jonathan miss his own upbringing on a 160-acre property in Canada, he doesn't think Zooey would be particularly keen to uproot their lives from Los Angeles, because of the "dirty work" involved, even if it meant she could spend more time around horses. He said: 'She's an equestrian. She used to jump. So she loves having horses, loves having space. 'I think she's not so much into the dirty work of the ranch, but she definitely is into having the space and room to run.' At the beginning of this year, Jonathan pledged to find the time to "figure out" his wedding plans. Asked if they've made any progress with their wedding plans, he told People: "I can guarantee you we have done absolutely zero percent more work. We've just had a lot of things going on. He shared: "Maybe that'll be my New Year's resolution - we've got to get this wedding figured out." The couple were "very different people" during their younger years but the building expert has suggested that their interests and ambitions have become more closely aligned over recent times. He said: "I mean, we've both been married before, but even when we were younger, you're looking for different things, and who knows what we were looking for at that time?"

KPop Demon Hunters to get sequels, expanded universe to include musical, live-action remake

SEOUL – As the Huntrix sing in the song Golden, it is their moment and they are only 'going up, up, up'. The fictional girl group from Netflix's record-shattering animation KPop Demon Hunters will get more screen time, according to US entertainment site The Wrap. Netflix is reportedly planning to turn KPop Demon Hunters into a film trilogy, with sequels on the way. The Wrap also said the streaming platform plans to expand the universe further, turning it into a franchise that includes a stage musical and a live-action remake. A short film to 'bridge content' between the movies is also in the pipeline. While Netflix has yet to make any official announcements, it will be a missed opportunity if it does not capitalise on the animation's massive success. The animated film about Huntrix – comprising Rumi, Zooey and Mira (voiced by actresses Arden Cho, Yoo Ji-young and May Hong respectively) – who protect the world against Saja Boys, demons disguised as K-pop idols, has taken down all competition to become Netflix's most-watched original animated film. It reached its peak viewership six weeks after its launch on June 20, a feat that has never happened before. The movie also received a whopping 26.3 million views for the week of July 21 to 27. The film's soundtrack, produced by K-pop label Black Label and featuring lyricists behind BTS hits, also saw a meteoric rise. The album amassed more than 41 million monthly listeners on Spotify, with all eight tracks breaking into Billboard's Hot 100 charts and Golden at No. 2. On Aug 1, Golden also topped the UK Official Singles Chart, marking the first K-pop song to reach No. 1 in over a decade. Golden reached the peak in its sixth week on the chart, rising three spots from the previous week. The UK Official Charts Company highlighted that this is the first K-pop No. 1 on the British chart since Psy's record-breaking Gangnam Style in 2012. KPop Demon Hunters' co-directors Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans told US entertainment portal The Ankler on July 30 that 'it would be a missed opportunity not to pursue expanding the film'. 'Most movies end with a possibility because you always want to keep that door open. There are a lot of backstories that we haven't fleshed out,' Kang told The Ankler. Netflix hopes the movie will score gold at the 2026 Oscars. The Ankler reported that the film had a one-week, three-theatre run in Los Angeles, New York and San Francisco, qualifying it for an Oscar nomination, with Golden having a chance to be considered in the Best Original Song category. Netflix co-chief executive Ted Sarandos hailed the film as a 'phenomenal success' at a recent second-quarter earnings call. He said: 'People are in love with this film and in love with the music from this film, and that will keep it going for a long time. Now the next beat is, where does it go from here?'

Watch: Zooey Deschanel's Hunger Games Audition Clip Is Hilarious

Last Updated: Sharing the video on her Instagram account, Zooey wrote, 'Give me an axe and you won't be disappointed.' With The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping in the making, the makers announced an official casting call for a role in the upcoming film through their official social media accounts. They asked the fans to post their videos, act out a scene, perform a song or surprise them with something completely different. And guess who just did that? Actress and musician Zooey Deschanel. Zooey, best known for her roles in 500 Days of Summer and The Good Girl, shared a hilarious video on her Instagram account, auditioning for the said role. Wearing a red striped shirt with black pants, the 45-year-old actress was seen cradling her cat. At the beginning of the clip, she said, 'Hi, I'm Zooey Deschanel. My height is between 5'4 and 6'4. You guess which side I'm on." She continued, 'I am auditioning for the role. I don't know the name of the role, but I'm also offer-only." Zooey then went on to list her skills like running, jumping and walking, hilariously enacting each one of those at her home. 'I have a lot of different skills. Running, jumping, walking, having long hair, having blue eyes, having three cats," she mentioned. In the video, the actress enacted being attacked by her cat, only to add that she was 'kidding." 'That's called acting," she said while facing the camera. Furthermore, the New Girl actress shared details on all the things she would be carrying to the arena. 'Some things I would pack for the arena. Like a change of clothes, like a concealer and a little lip gloss, just in case. Some cosy blanket, a cat, some electrolytes like maybe like a protein bar." Zooey then playfully admitted having an advantage over others because she was 'on television before." She added, 'But, like, I'm just the same as everyone else." After giving her fans a glimpse at how she would react if her name got called for the 'Reaping", she jokingly said, 'I'm not going to do it because I'm offer-only, of course. I'm only doing it if I'm being paid." In the caption of the post, Zooey wrote, 'Give me an axe and you won't be disappointed." Fans immediately started reacting to her hilarious audition clip, with one even saying, 'I'm literally like, where can we suggest that they put her? Haymitch's mom? She has a great story arc. Let's get this to casting. They haven't let us down yet…" Another added, 'Wow, this is so good. Have you ever thought about becoming an actress?" ICYDK, The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping will revisit the world of Panem 24 years before the events of the OG Hunger Games, which will begin on the morning of the reaping of the 50th Hunger Games. Directed by Francis Lawrence, the film is scheduled to be released on November 20, 2026. First Published: June 09, 2025, 17:26 IST
