Bicyclist killed after hit-and-run in Bellflower; police search for driver

A bicyclist was killed after a hit-and-run in Bellflower Friday morning and now police are searching for the driver who was responsible. The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department received a call around 1:55 a.m. about a bicyclist who was in the middle of the road on Clark Avenue and Somerset Boulevard. When deputies arrived, they found a woman who had been struck by a car while she was riding her bike. They believe the driver fled the scene, going northbound on Clark Avenue. Deputies do not have a driver description and are hoping someone saw something that may help identify them.

Bicyclist killed by hit-and-run driver in Sun Valley

A 52-year-old bicyclist was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver in the Sun Valley area on Monday night, and police say that they're still searching for the suspect. It happened at around 10:50 p.m. on Lankershim Boulevard south of Arminta Street, according to a news release from the Los Angeles Police Department. Investigators say that a white pickup truck was traveling south on Lankershim when it struck the bicyclist as he crossed the same street outside of a marked crosswalk. "The driver of the pickup truck continued southbound on Lankershim Boulevard without stopping to identify themselves or render aid as required by law," police said. The bicyclist was taken to a nearby hospital where he later died. He has not yet been identified pending notification of next of kin. Neighbors told CBS News Los Angeles that the man was on his way home from the grocery store, evidenced by the merchandise scattered around the scene of the collision. One man said that the victim was a caregiver for his wife. As with all fatal hit-and-run collision in Los Angeles, the Hit-and-Run Reward Program Trust Fund allows up to a $50,000 reward for anyone who provides information leading to the identification, arrest and conviction of the alleged suspect.

Arrest made in West Hollywood hit-and-run that left bicyclist dead

Authorities say they've located and arrested a driver suspected of hitting and killing a bicyclist in West Hollywood before fleeing the scene. According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, Douglas Morton Adams was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of hit and run causing death. Authorities credited witnesses and community tipsters for identifying Adams' vehicle, leading to his arrest. Adams is accused of hitting a bicyclist, later identified as Blake Ackerman, around 9:47 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of Fountain Avenue and Gardner Street. LASD said Ackerman was transported to a local hospital following the collision, where he later died. Adams allegedly fled the scene by driving westbound on Fountain. Blake Ackerman was an associate at Morgan Lewis, according to the law firm's website. The firm said he was a graduate of the University of Southern California and earned his JD from Loyola Law School. "Blake was an exceptional person with a contagious smile and personality—a bright rising star, full of life and positivity," the firm said. "Our entire Morgan Lewis community is holding Blake and his loved ones in our thoughts and hearts during this incredibly difficult time. We will miss and remember him."

Police search for hit-and-run driver that fatally struck bicyclist in South LA

Police are searching for the hit-and-run driver who fatally struck a bicyclist in South Los Angeles in early July. The crash happened at around 10:10 p.m. on July 1, when investigators say a speeding Tesla Model X was traveling east on 67th Street from Flower Street when they crashed into a bicyclist who was heading int he same direction, according to a release from the Los Angeles Police Department. Instead of stopping, the driver continued driving east towards Broadway. The bicyclist, only identified as a 30-year-old man, was pronounced dead after he was taken to a nearby hospital. As their investigation continues, LAPD detectives have released a photo of the Tesla involved in the collision. As with all deadly hit-and-run crashes in Los Angeles, a standing reward of up to $50,000 is offered for anyone with information leading to the identification, arrest and conviction on the suspect.

Victim dies after hit-and-run crash in Englewood as search for driver continues

A man has died following a hit-and-run crash in the Englewood neighborhood earlier this month. Chicago police said the victim was hit around 2:47 on July 5, in the 6300 block of South Halsted Street by a gray 2014 Audi Q5 four-door sedan with Illinois Plate EP16347 heading northbound on Halsted Street. The driver did not stop to render aid. The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office identified the victim as 56-year-old Fareed Muhammed. The office determined that the cause of death was a result of complications due to a motor vehicle hitting a bicyclist. Police are searching for the driver of the vehicle involved in the crash. They said the vehicle may have front-end damage and a newly replaced windshield.
